USS Genesis

Sickbay- Fahr

: : : : Valleea watched the results come over the screen, but to an untrained eye it as just data. From here she had to reconstruct it into something understandable. Her fingers moved over the screen, touching elements that began to render it from chaos into something more closely resembling an answer. This was probably understandable to Fahr, since weeding out variables was a usual practice, but it resulted in a different outcome. “Okay, so please keep in mind that none of this is guaranteed and it’s always just a guess, but based on several different genetic factors it seems you are likely to have a longer lifespan. Probably on the order of a couple centuries.” She smiled at Niniane. “You know some of the Elders on my world are that age.”

: : : Niniane smiled at Valleea with wonder in her blazingly blue Denobulan eyes. “Oh this is wonderful! So… you’re telling me by coincidence you are the one to find out that I live as long as you?” she said and her smile slowly warped into a very happy grin.

: : Vallea shrugged and smiled. “I guess so. Just keep in mind that mixed DNA is always a guess, but the variables do suggest a longer lifespan than, say, an unjoined Trill. So, there you go.” She considered Niniane for a moment. “How do you feel about it now that you know?”

: : Ensign Valleea, Doctor
:
: Niniane eyed Valleea and thought about it for a moment. “Well, I feel good about it. I’m 85 years old now so I kind of guessed I’d live a bit longer, simply because I’m not aging so fast. It means I may be close to reaching my prime. This is good, because I can keep up my belief that every day counts. I’m not sure I could live as intensly if I knew I’d live for minimum five centuries like Denobulans.
: I never really wanted to live that long for that reason.
: On the other hand it makes me… makes me sad I haven’t realy found love yet. Guess I should better get a move on.” she chuckled half-hearatedly.
: “The problem is I just don’t feel it. There are so many handsome men on this ship, even two other Trills, both joined.” she shook her head and lost her smile.
: “But nothing Valleea. No faster heartbeat, no oogling, no butterflies in the belly. I never felt this when looking at a man. Something must be wrong with me.”

Valleea shrugged. “Maybe you’re just not attracted to men,” she remarked simply. “You’d hardly be the first if that was so.” She herself knew she was definitely attracted to men, but definitely had a certain ‘type’ she liked. For her, attraction in general wasn’t the issue, it was connection. That she hadn’t found very much of in any form, especially after Daharren. But the Genesis was changing things for her and it seems connections were building.
Ensign Valleea, Doctor

Niniane looked a bit surprised but then nodded. “Hm, I haven’t thought about it that way yet. Maybe I should start trying out a few things, now that I now I’ll NOT live forever, huh?” she said to Valleea and launched into carefree laughter, while wrapping an arm around Valleea’s shoulders after hopping down off the biobed.

“How much longer until you need to work again?” Niniane asked. “Are you on the evening shift like me?”
