Posted by Lieutenant Junior Grade Marishka (CIO) in Bridge Main SIM Posted by… suppressed (7) by the Post Ghost! 👻 : : : : : : : Despite the excitement before the official launch of the Genesis into her main mission, the entry into the uncharted parts of the Alpha Quadrant was rather anticlimactic. After all, going by the protocol, the ship would move to a region of space and begin scans. Then recording the data before moving to the next region. At the outer part of the galaxy, the number of bodies are fewer than the part nearer the centre of the galaxy. The enthusiasm to explore uncharted space gave way to the boredom of scanning empty space. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 10 light years away from Omicron Ceti, the last charted star in that part of known space, the Genesis began their sweep of their long range sensors. NE Rico yawned. He was bored. It had been a week already and all they had was empty space. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Two hours into the sweep, the sensors detected two unknown ships a whole day away at Warp 9. They were stationary but not ‘dead in water’. : : : : : : : : ____ : : : : : : : : GM : : : : : : : : : : : : : : OOC: Kenson are all the bridge senior officers on the bridge at this time? : : : : : : : : : : : : : : AJ : : : : : : : : : : : : Marishka was in the habit of reviewing everything that happened the previous shift at the beginning of the one she was assigned to. She had finished doing that and was prepared to spend the rest of her shift quietly at her station which was something she was quite unaccustomed to. : : : : : : : : : : : : Marishka, CIO : : : : : : : : : : OOC: I suppose the bridge senior officers are about. :) : : : : : ____ : : : : : Kenson : : : : : : : : OOC: Just a little note to all: Please keep playing the other threads, we’re all more than capable I think to play multiple timelines. We can still play the promotion party and all the others - just be aware that this one takes place after all those have been finished IC. Kenson, how much would you say this is in the future of the currently ongoing side-sims? 2-4 weeks? - Julia : : : : OOC: That would be a good estimate. :) : : : : IC: : : : : : : David was at the main Operations station, his usual spot on the Bridge. An alert popped up from the long range sensors. Ships quite far away but not moving. Curious. : : : : : : As things were relatively quiet at the moment, David slowly made his way over to where Marishka was. He leaned casually against the console, looking at her with a big grin. : : : : : : “I think you’re avoiding me,” He said playfully. “It feels like I haven’t seen you in ages.” He sighed. “So take a look at the long range sensor readings. I’ve got two ships on scans. Think we can dig up any more information?” It was probably nothing, but at least it would be something to do. : : : : : : -David Michaels, CSO Marishka gave David a hurt look. “I would never avoid you. Can I get more information on that ship hmmm? Tell me, are your eyes blue today?” she said flirtatiously before turning back to collect the information he’d requested. She was also curious as to the ship type because it would make communicating with them easier if they decided to do so. Marishka, CIO : : : : The sensor information showed that the ships were very primitive warp drives. However, there was no record of them in the computer records. : : _____ : : GM : : Dagen was watching the ‘ships’. This far out chances are there wouldn’t be anything too ‘familiar’ about these and his heart quickened at the idea of meeting new races. That being said, he said, “Bringing auxiliary power to the sensors. Won’t give us much more range but it will enhance the visuals.” : : Primitive warp drives. Dagen took what information there was and plotted them against similar ‘old’ technology of the races they did know. It wasn’t so much a match up game of race but a match up game of what race it was close to and what era it would be to give them a ballpark of what they were like for tech. : : The second thing he was looking for was whether it looked like the two ships were together aka same people or separate. That was going to be a hard call given the unknown of the peoples involved but it was never a bad thing to look. If the warp design was the same then it was a good call that they were the same. : : Dagen, CE
On closer inspection, the two ships had only one nacelle. The looked very much like the Kelvin-type ships the Federation had, although the saucer section was about only half the Kelvin’s size. There were still energy readings as well as life signs from the two vessels but they were not moving.
GM
“That’s odd, but once you have faster than light travel the prime directive no longer applies…” Marius looked at the screen. “Plot an intercept course… and open hailing frequencies, Lets be friends.”
Marius XO
“Hailing frequencies open Commander.” Marishka said calmly.
She was interested to find out if this was a real mystery or something less fascinating.
-Marishka, CIO
“Bringing their image on the main screen,” Dagen said. It wasn’t a ‘full’ screen image but a kind of window in window on the bottom right of the screen so that any comms would not be affected. “Single nacelle. Similar to the old Kelvins but smaller.” Amazing, he thought. How did they dare to venture out into something that fragile. He couldn’t help but smile. They’d be saying the same thing about them in a century or two.
Dagen, CE
Ben looked up at the screen briefly from his station and then back down to see if there was any energy coming from weapons.

Sensors indicated that their weapons were offline. Further sensor information came in as they drew nearer. There was one ship with life signs and the other had no life signs.
OOC: I need to take an LOA for a few days as RL will keep me occupied. Should be able to post on Saturday latest. (7 July)
- GM
Dagen’s brow furrowed. “Only one has life signs,” he commented and used a virtual ‘highlighter’ to circle the ship that had the life signs on it. “Checking the other ship with no life signs for damage or any kind of internal … accident.” He scanned that ship. So many things could go wrong in early warp vessels. Even later ones. ‘Remember Christopher Pike’ was an engineering proverb that still resonated. When things went wrong on a ship they often could go very wrong. A radiation spill. Loss of life support. Even a momentary fail of the SIF would really mess with one’s day.
Dagen, CE
Sensors showed there was nuclear radiation at part of the ship. Until they were nearer, the details were not clear.
-GM
Marishka adjusted her hail to make certain it was only going to the ship with life signs. Now it was up to Commander Marius to be friendly as he put it.
Marishka, CIO
David had walked back to his own station, pulling up the sensor data.
“It appears there’s nuclear radiation coming from within the ship but we will need to move closer to determine it’s nature.” He reported.-David Michaels, CSO
“Sir, I would advise against that.” Ben said sharply. “We do not know how it would affect the ship or the crew.”
