Kylie Brecker would wake up in a room much like the engineering chief and Bailey were currently occupying somewhere else on the compound. It had a bed and small table but the room had a damp smell as if it were in the basement or cellar. The overhead artificial light was bright enough to get a good look at the room. There were no windows but there was a door.

Instead of Brecker’s uniform, however, she was wearing a pair of gray coveralls with her name sewn on the left breast pocket. Instead of the word engineer it read Brecker, electrical.

GM

Kylie slowly came to. She sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, groaning softly as the grogginess wore off from whatever had been used to induced her to sleep. She swiveled her body to the side, and placed her feet on the floor. Soon after she finished rubbing her eyes and looked about the room a concerned look crossed her face. She looked down and noted the uniform frowning, as it confused her. She shivered slightly in thought of what may have been done to her in her sleep if she had been reclothed. It was a few minutes later she stood up and walked over to where there were a pair of boots. She would grab the boots and then head back to the bed and sit back down.

She took a moment to look the work boots over, her frown never ceasing or going away. She slowly looked them over visually turning the boot in hand seeing if there was anything odd about it. She then felt along the edges and all over each surface. Taking a few moments she inspected the inside of each boot as well a slight scowl formed on her face. She eventually gave up the fruitless search and slid them on. She also inspected her own clothes and uniform she had been changed into, seeing what she could feel and investigate what she could. It took her a little bit longer before she started to look around the room and investigate the room. If there were any drawers in the table, then she would look in them investigating as best she could, flipping up the mattress if able, looking under the bed all of that. Eventually when her curiosity of her situation was sated, though not abated she turned towards the door.

She slowly walked towards the door. Her posture was stiff, she didn’t like any of this going on at all. But she had to try and figure out what was going on and where she was, to try and get back to the Genesis. She stood by the door and waited for it to open, if it was going to open.

The door flew open revealing a person on the other side with a frown. The individual resembled a stern primary teacher more than an armed security guard. She was wearing what looked like a high-end suit but in the same gray color as Kylie’s overalls. “Were you ever getting out of bed,” she shook her head disapprovingly. “Everyone is awake but they can not get the holovision working. You know how persnickety the lady of the house can be if she misses Andorian Arts and Craftsmen Antiques. So get whatever you use to fix the reception and go,” she made a sweeping motion for Kylie ot head down the hall.

Kylie looked at her dumfounded. “Where am I? What in the… that I guess I’ll figure out. But mostly where in the neutronium nightmares am I?” She asked, though she doubted there would be a reply, she would grab anything that would resemble toolkit if one was in the room and head out.

The hall was not dungeon or prison-like. Instead, it was a brightly lit hallway with marble floors and soothing pale yellow walls. Art hung along the path along with some vases and knick-knacks on a few of the tables along the way. As Kylie moved down the space she would hear the sound of voices at the end of the space. The voices were high pitched indicating emotion but it sounded more anxious than threatening and angry.

GM

As Kylie walked she grumbled to herself. “Stupid whatever it is kidnapping me… and doing whatever it wants… I just hope that it’ll let me get back to the Genesis after this.” As she heard the voices she quieted down herself and then started to slowly creep forward, as much as she can anyway.

“You…thank god you are here,” a high-pitched voice said exasperatedly as she locked eyes on Kylie. “It is five minutes until I go live for my one-on-one interview with Desperate Housewives of Betazed and the comm feed is down.” As if to visually add to her whine, the woman bounced about on high heels like a toddler throwing a tantrum waving madly at the large communication wall. “Fix it,” she whined.

The prim teacher-looking woman that opened Kylie’s door moments earlier came up behind Kylie and whispered in her ear. “Your other comrades are here. If you do anything but play your role as the comm repair person they will be killed. Do you understand?”

GM

Kylie gritted her teeth but nodded. “Show me where the communications center or pannel is and I will get to work on diagnosing and working on the problem.” She said before she cut her eyes to the teacher. She gave a glare, worthy of a Klingon warrior gritted her teeth, and gave a low subaudiable growl.

“Over there,” she nodded with her chin slightly, “and know you are not as smart as you think Ensign.” It was the first time the woman indicated she understood Kylie was an officer and not the fantasy holo-repair technician she was claiming. While Kylie did not have the skills of the engineering chief, she was far more competent than what most people would assume an Ensign could be. If she was smart, lucky, and careful, she might be able to send a message to the Genesis crew. It would have to be short and concise but she could send a message since the mass of wires were essentially a way to send and receive messages.

Outgoing GM

Kylie got to work. She sight as she worked to detangle the rats nest of components within, eventually after sorting the transceiver. She quietly worked making sure that she was keeping some of what she was doing covered, She worked on reconfiguring the transceiver to send two signals at once. One set with a loop of pulses that would resemble the oldest call for help in the Earth history, a morse SOS. The other would function like a normal communication signal, though it would forgo any security protocalls. She only hoped she could do this and remain undiscovered as she altered some wire pathings, resaudering a few components along the way.
Kylie Brecker, Electrical

Her actions went undiscovered for the moment. The two messages were sent with a strong and clear signal. The SOS blipped in a visual light flash of three short/three long/three short flashes of light for three successive rounds. While the message clearly went out. The fact that the console blipped so that Kylie could see the message might be somewhat concerning to her. The Prim looking woman had warned her that any attempt at escape would be met with punishment and consequences. There was no reason the entire display panel should have announced visually what she was doing however the man and woman in the room did not at all look like the type that would notice such things. The question that should be rolling through Kylie’s mind was why the console acted this way. Was it a security procedure to show tampering? Was it a way to let Kylie know she had been caught with her hand in the proverbial cookie jar? Was it a fluke? The message had sent out five cycles in the time since she started it and if she kept the panel open, even the two idiots in the room fighting would notice before long.

GM

Kylie gritted her teeth as she saw the flashing. She weighed the options and after making sure that the signal for the confrence call would be fine she quickly closed back up the communications pannel. She tried to hide the blink amonst the mass of wires and connections before closing it up. Once done she took a few steps away and nodded. “There… it should be just fine. Unless you’ve got more problems than just a few loose connections.” She said turning away and to the others in the room. She was taking a risk and she hated it but if it also lead to everyone getting out she was willing to play the devil’s gambit.

“Excellent,” the husband said before walking away as if he had no concern past keeping his wife happy. From where Kylie stood, she would see Dagen and Reia on the patio

GM

Kylie eyed the others and then turned back to the man. “If there is nothing else sir, am I dismissed?” She asked making sure to turn just enough so that she kept her crewmates within her pereferial vision.
