One of Tom’s listening devices suddenly picked up his own name, just as the com came in from Julien.

It was only a few minutes later and Tom stood before the ready room door. Making sure his Black on Black uniform was straight, he knocked and waited for an answer.

After he got in, Julien got up. He was uncharacteristically in civilian clothes. He gave a sad smile to Tom. “I have to tell you something. I’ve resigned from active duty. I need to be with La’kia when she gives birth to my daughter, and that can only happen on Earth. I’ve come to tell you that.” he said, his mismatched green eyes looked happy and sad at the same time.
