Side Sim - Valt Minor - Orr

Posted by Lieutenant Dagen Thor (CE) in Side Sim - Valt Minor - Orr
Orr stepped off the shuttle with his companion Benji. Valt Minor had that feel. The hiss of the aged Klingon cargo shuttle converted for transporting people from the orbital customs station to the surface brought him to the here and now; the scent of the impulse manifold in need of servicing mixed with the damp mix of fog and drizzle didn’t inspire him with a pleasant stay here. But here they were going to begin their search. Already the other two of their team had preceded them by almost a month. They were going to meet them at a nearby Klingon coffee shop called the ‘Rak’. Folding up the collar of their coats, Orr and Benji started along the tarmac and through the main building. All they had was carried with them. Out on the Main Street they hailed a cab and directed them to the shop.
“Nice place,” Benji commented.
Orr peered out into the fog. “Could be London.”
“The beer would be better.”
“But not the coffee.”
They made small talk until they reached their destination. Paying for it after adding a nondescript tip Orr felt that they would be forgotten before the fellow had turned the corner.

“Lets work our plan,” Orr said as he, Benji and Val were sitting around a triangular table. A kind of lava lamp that tripled both as a dim light, holo device that connected to the local web, and comms to gather the attention of the waiters. Fortunately, their ‘waitress’ was Dal, one of those who had preceded them here. Placing a small device on the ‘lamp’ to interfere with any two way listening, he began.

“Daharren seemed to fall off the grid after the last meeting or so with Valleea. Lets go back to there and start there. Benji, Val, you’re best with mining that data. Look for any trace of purchases, taxes, anything like that which you can dig up after this. He had to have had an address.” Val came by and refreshed their coffee.

“Might I interest you in the muffins. They have a Klingon overtone to them in taste but apart from you being real regular for a while, no other harm done.” Dal smiled. “We have to try everything to recommend to the customers.

Benji hugged the coffee. “I’ll stick with this,” he said. Dal winked. “Chicken,” she replied.
Orr said, “I’ll give one a try. When are you off work?”
“Two hours,” she said, “Give or take.”
“Shall we check out the who’s who in science - energy divisions?” he asked.
“You sure know how to give a girl a good time,” Dal quipped.
“Only the best,” he said. “Meet you outside.”
