“You couldn’t handle it if I let my freak flag get to half-mast.” He wasn’t certain that was true. In fact, he suspected her willingness to be overt with whatever she considered freaky was way higher than his public willingness, but it might be interesting to call her bet and see where she would go - he could always fold later.“I have a sneaky suspicion that your freak flag is more of a pennant but I am sure I could handle a full-sized eight by twelve if you got one all furled up somewhere. You have no idea how many sick tickets come strolling through our doors that never make the fleet,” she confessed. It was not like she was breaking any confidentiality. The small concrete path leading from the recruitment center to the main street was nicknamed wash-out row for a reason.
Well, that was both a true and untrue statement. It was not something he was about to explain. He just tilted his head.
As if on cue a twang country song began to play from Vanessa’s personal communicator in her back pocket. The melody was a classic toe-tapping tune with a couple of violins and a steady drumbeat keeping pace with the lyrics that soon filled the small enclosed space.
Hey, they call me the fireman, that’s my name
Makin’ my rounds all over town
Puttin’ out old flames
Hey, well, everybody’d like to have what I’ve got
I can cool ‘em down when they’re smolderin’ hot
I’m the fireman, that’s my name“Classic country....” Marius squinted. “That has to be at least 300 years old.”
“Well there are not a lot of songs about firemen and the vibrate feature just made people wonder what was in my pocket going off all the time,” she replied.
In a single motion, Vanessa handed the tin pail to Marius and fished the communicator out of her pocket answering in immediately.
“Now I’m holding your garbage.” Marius was feeling like the men who sat on the guy bench outside of clothing stores with their wives or girlfriends holding their purses as they shopped un-encumbered.
One second, she held up a finger and mouthed the words before giving him a thumbs up with a smile in response to his comment.
“What do you want. I am wawking.” As typical her accent came through the second she started to talk to her family from back home.
“Sounds like you ah drinking,” the voice broke out in a laugh, “and who wawks at 4 am.” There was a hint of suspicion in the tone as silence fell between them before Vanessa spoke.
“Life of an officah. what do you need?”
“Faw you to call Mah,” Daniel Slade’s thick Bostonian growl seemed to echo in the small space. It was clear he was annoyed and this wasn’t exactly a social call. “She said she has been calling you faw like fouh houhs and you have not picked up. She is going down the rabbit hole that the bawg attacked and you have been assimilated oh some crap like that. She is riding ah asses so if you dawnt want hah showing up on Deneva call hah.”
Vanessa groaned and rubbed her forehead. Other people might have felt a need to explain why a grown woman was getting a call to report to her mother. For Vanessa, it was just a Tuesday night. Hopefully, Marius missed the comment about Daniel thinking she was serving on Deneva instead of millions of light-years from there and on a starship. It was time to end the call before anything else came out. “Okay okay fine. Gawtta go,” she snapped into the communicator and let out a breath she was holding. “Family…if you kill them then you don’t have someone to help hide the bodies so you are stuck with them.”
Vanessa Slade
Marius chuckled, “That’s why you join the marines, all of them will help you hide the bodies. It’s literally in the job description.”
“Well we are technically short one person then. There are typically thirteen in a squad,” she asked?
“There are twelve of us Slades unless you count my Grandma’s which makes it fourteen.”
“Your family’s from Earth? Because whatever language you were speaking kept almost activating the universal translator.” Marius recognized it after the third or fourth back and forth as New England area… probably Boston… that group of people leaned into their accents hard when they wanted to. “Country Music, Boston accent… you’re a little bit of a contradiction aren’t you.”
“If you ask anyone that knows me for more than a week they call me a hot mess, with a side of disaster all covered with a thick sauce of chaos.” She let out a laugh and pulled her hair up into a ponytail. It made her look slightly younger on some level. “However you called me symmetrical earlier so doesn’t that mean I am on some level I am easy to read because symmetrical things tend to be the same pattern on each side.”
He squinted and looked her up and down closely… “You said you were 29 didn’t you. I’m sure you’re a lieutenant, I see the uniform. The rest of you seems mature.” He gestured indiscriminately at her body. He pursed his lips pausing as he now stared at her face. “I’m wondering how many 29 year olds have to answer a call from their mother’s within 4 hours or they start freaking out. This kind of blows up your image as wild party girl if your leash is so short. Or did you mean your ‘wild’” He air quoted lifting the pail as if it were weightless, “parties include a mother chaperone? Does she sit between you and your date at movies, measure the distance between your knee and the hem of your skirt or be sure there is enough room ‘for Jesus’ between you and your partner when you dance?”
“Not that was what my brothers did for fun,” she rolled her eyes but wore a smile. “My family is just…close. Maybe closer than some.” Right now she did not know Marius well enough to explain what the Jamaica Plains Battleship was. It probably would explain a few of his questions but inevitably lead to a whole slew more of them. “And it is not completely out of the realm of Starfleet. Don’t you remember in the first year of the academy where they made you contact home once a week or to someone important to you. Psychologically it helps to build confidence to know you are doing something on your own but also establishes a connection when you need a pep talk. My mom just....well she is a mom.”
Marius historically feared neither brothers or fathers. Mother’s however were an ingrained degree of respect. “Not really,” Marius was an orphan. His adoptive parents and he were pretty estranged when he was younger. Actually, he was on fairly good terms when he went to the academy but he was 30 by then and contact was far less frequent than weekly by then.
He did the math in his head, the delay was so long from Deneva to Earth that they would probably have to record conversations. “And as an aside, she’s going to notice that we are getting further and further away from her… might want to tell her you’re not on Deneva. Unless you’re afraid of your mommy.” He voice took on a notable child-like tone when he said ‘your mommy.’
Marius
“Aw shhh,” she started to speak before the turbo doors sprung open on the desired floor. It blurred the curse word long enough for Vanessa to utter it. Looking up at Marius she bit her lip. “I did not think the Deneva thing through,” she commented in a slow contemplated tone. Letting out a sigh she shook her head. That would be a problem to tackle tomorrow. Reaching the holodeck she keyed in a code and walked in.
“That doesn’t make it any better…” In fact, it made it a little worse, “I know that’s a bad idea, but I’m on board.” He gave a huge thumbs up as a punctuation mark.
The room was a beach but not the lush tropical one most people seemed to replicate. This was more of a city beach. Replacing the palm trees were some tufts of beach grass. Instead of vast expanses of pure white sand touching aquamarine waves, they saw sand speckled with small pebbles bordering on darker water that obscured the depth of the water. The only man carrying drinks was Marius and not some man in a straw hat with pineapples filled with booze and little umbrellas. Moving into the space, Vanessa immediately began to pull off her shoes as she talked.
“You know I left a half a bottle of ‘real’ whiskey in the lounge. You have to believe there are a bunch of ensigns trying to figure out if it worth it to steal my whiskey for the booze and the street cred, or return it for my gratitude.” He shook his head. “I’m never seeing that bottle again.” He could order the bartender to pick it up. It likely hadn’t walked off yet.
“You can put that down there over by the rocks.” Dropping one shoe she then pulled off the other along with her socks dropping them in the sand. “When we get done,” she began to unbutton her jeans and continued to talk as she shimmed her hips out of them, “we can build a fire.” Dropping her jeans in the clothes pile she moved to the edge of the water and began to dig her toes in the sand.
He placed the pail in the location indicated. “You’re wearing a bathing suit under your..” He paused as he watched her gyrate out of her trousers. No… no, she wasn’t. I couldn’t decide if women knew how sensual that body shimmy was. He was sure they knew it was but he doubted they knew who much. It was like an innocent striptease.
Marius waited and watched until she was done.Looking at him she raised an eyebrow. “You know it is really hard to do this wearing your shoes. In fact, I am pretty sure it is impossible to do this in shoes so what are you waiting for?”
Vanessa Slade CNS
“I was just trying to figure out how much you were going to take off. It could have been a nude ‘holographic’ beach for all I know.”
“Nude beaches only come into play once I see how good you are at this. Think you can impress me,” she toyed with him. Her mind raced at all the implications of his comment. It would be remiss to say Vanessa’s mind wasn’t thinking of being anywhere else but here with him. There were far better places for physical tangos. Soft sheets, low music, locked doors: all created a mood much more inductive to recreation ventures but this was the first time she was hanging out with Calvin. No need to scare him this early.
“You’re evaluating me?” Marius wondered what the criteria might be. He usually did pretty well on beaches. “Okay, we’ll see how that goes.”
“He looked out, “Jersey Shore?” Marius guess trying to discern the location. I could have been Boston as well, but it was a little warm for that, but I could be set for any month or weather day that ever occurred and even a day that never occurred.
“Crane beach,” Vanessa replied wiggling her feet more vigorously back and forth in the sand. If her ankles were not submerged in the sand, she would look like she was doing the twist. “This was my stopping grounds as a teen. As a family we went to Carson Beach. It was closer and in my part of town. Crane beach however was far more exclusive. Families there were more well off so they preferred us Southies to stay south. Of course that only made us want to go north,” she explained. “They were far more conservative. Tended to wear more clothes,” she nodded at him. “If you are far more conservative I can close my eyes,” she twisted so she could face the ocean and not look at him. “Look I even turned my back for you.” It took everything for Vanessa not to spin back around. While she was a fan of men in uniform, the only filled the fantasy most of the time covering one like they were space aged Amish instead of strutting around like they were in the latest issue of Galactic Quarterly.
She could have named a crater on the moon for all he knew about specific names. He impressed himself with the Jersey Shore theory. “I’m not that modest.”
He wondered about the beach fixation are a recreation event. He thought it had to do with the comfortable weather, the lack of movement, the water, and the innate need to be scantily clad. Marius hated the sand as a general rule, it got everywhere. But the other things, he did enjoy. He paused looking up and down the beach for a moment as if there was going to be other people here. “Well, you asked for it.” Marius started stripping down. It was a far less sensual activity than Vanessa. He didn’t have the hips to sway… but the shirt removal might have been enjoyable. https://famewatcher.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/terry-crews-shirtless.jpg
Vanessa slowly wiggled down letting her bottom almost touch the lapping waves as she put her hand in the sand. Hearing his taunt, she smiled. Yes I did, she raked her teeth across her lips as she stood back up. “Hit me with your best shot,” she sang as she turned to face him. The expression on her face slowly melted into another. The coy, teasing smile disappeared as her chin dropped opening her mouth in a facial expression of awe. It was clear what she just witnessed was not expected but not the way her eyes zeroed in his body it was absolutely appreciated.
He paused for a moment, “Pants too?” He grimaced slightly, “I’m wearing briefs, not boxers so…” he shrugged many people feel that briefs are unattractive. Marius swimwear were generally board shorts but his undergarments varied.
Marius
Only one thought went through Vanessa’s mind as she saw Marius and it was not an answer to his question. ‘You have eyes?’ instantly popped into her mind. The old joke most often applied to women; however, if someone had asked her any question about Marius physical characteristics she would not be able to accurately describe anything except his abs, chest, and shoulders. That region was burned into her mind with such crystal clarity, she could have picked out his torso in a police line up.
Her hand slowly opened letting some dark, oblong shapes tumble from between her fingers. They hit the wet sand and were swallowed by ensuing wave rolling into shore. “My god you are so…hard,” she let the words roll off her tongue slowly as she continued to look at him standing on the beach without his shirt finally producing an answer to his question. She had thought she had a mental image of what was below the cotton fabric yet this was one time reality was far better than imagination. Every muscle was toned and firm leaving no one to doubt how much time the CO spent in the gym. Vanessa’s eyes trailed each muscle like it was a road map slowly working her way down from north to south.
“Not yet, I’ve had a stressful day.” He couldn’t help but chuckle slightly under his breath. Not to be vain he did get this response often when he took off his shirt. Which was part of the reason he wasn’t to hesitant to take off his clothes in the first place.
OOC: Just let that joke go huh?
OOC: Never :)“Sex is the biggest stress reliever of all time. It releases,” she swallowed in the middle of the sentence breaking the rhythm of her words, “all kinds of endorphins.” Shamlessly, Vanessa could not help but let her mind drift into the thoughts that were HR’s nightmares. Letting her gaze trail back up from noticing Calvin was wearing a nice black leather belt about his hips, she met his eyes for a second. There was something dangerous and exotic behind them. They were like the last piece of a puzzle you held in your hands. Snap it in place and you finally had the complete picture.
“The gym will do that to you if you are consistent enough.”
“Give me abs so hard you could bounce a penny off my stomach,” she replied knowing she had to say something but was drunk enough and daydreaming enough not to care if it was intelligent.
“You’re not far from it.” Marius looked at her with an appraising eye. At her level of body fat it certainly wouldn’t take that long. “I could do it, but why would you want to change? A rose by any other name.” He said honestly, but sometimes one wishes for something that they already possess.
“I don’t really. Women should be soft and men hard. What man wants to run his hand over your body and then say “man your torso is firm and hard.”
As soon as the words slipped from her mouth Vanessa immediately tried to retract them snapping her eyes up with a concerted effort to look at his face. “I mean you’re not hard. How how how,” she began to stammer struggling for a more public thought over the one in her mind. “How would I know if your abs hard? I’m not hard…because I don’t get hard..because I am soft. I don’t work out as hard…vigorously. As vigorously as you. How often do you do you work out? A couple of times a week,” she continued to ramble feeling her own body reacting to what she was seeing and internally thinking about. Her face flushed slightly and a smile seemed to be frozen on her face. She scratched her forehead with a finger still trying to act natural but failing miserably.
“I could work you out, not that you need it. Women are notoriously light with their weights, it is actually counterproductive. Most are worried that they will get overly muscled. But that really doesn’t ever happen.”
Oh my god the kinda working out I am thinking about would make the gym x-rated she thought as a sly smile curled the edges of her mouth. “How would you do it? Work me I mean?” From somewhere in her subconscious a voice let out a deep booming laugh. How would you work me? That was your reply. Are you fifteen years old and in middle school? Step up your game girl. You sound like an idiot Clearing her throat she tried to speak again working hard to look him in the eyes and not sample the landscape. “What is your workout routine?”
“About a 90 minutes of lifting, then I run a 10k… four, five times a week. In and out of the gym in 2, 2 and a half hours. It’s actually surprisingly do-able. You just have to do it. And a mess of dieting, I happen to be cutting right now, so I’m low on carbs. Next week is protein stacking for muscle growth.”
Her mind drifted as he talked making his voice a comforting white noise as she imagined using various mats and equipment in the gym. Marius was spotting her lifting weights. His hands were on her hips, the small of her back, helping steady her core. The feel of his breath slipping down the curve of her neck as he asked about increasing the poundage she was lifting. “More please,” she said having her own voice snap her out of her daydream. Looking at him, Vanessa blinked realizing her more please to ask for weights did not apply to the current conversation. Clearing her throat she went with the first thing that popped into her mind in an attempt to repair the faux pas.
“More than 2 and a half hours?” Marius tilted his head. “That’s a little over kill, I mean I’ve done two a days for month or two, but that’s just to jump start your gains. You really can’t keep that up. In fact it will break down your bodies’ muscles.” He rippled a little when he talked.
“With enough motivation I can keep anything up,” she bit her lip. God please don’t be talking about the gym she thought. Steady girl. You don’t want to scare him.
“That’s a skill that many people would like.” Marius was curious to the depth of her double entendres.
“You are so muscly,” she blurted out snapping a finger and pointing it at him. She held the finger out and started to twirl it at his body almost too slowly as it tracing what she saw versus gesturing to it. “You are like… bulging everywhere… and… hard…firm” she yelled knowing her mouth was only repeating what she was thinking mentally. Bending over she started to laugh at herself as she held up a finger indicating she needed a moment to compose herself. Her long dark hair, covered her face although it was not enough to stifle the embarrassed laughter she was trying to hold back. Oh my god you did not just describe your commanding officer as hard, bulging, and firm Vanessa. I mean yes he is but you could have be less obvious if you just yelled out Take me now I am ready.
He started blinking at her. Her confusion was running long and he could only fake that her conversation was normal for so long. He subconsciously did the pec flex. “You okay?”
“No. No I am not,” she replied with a smile that said she wasn’t but was absolutely fine with the turn of events.
Returning to an upright position she wore an embarrassed smile and she moistened her lips with the tip of her tongue as she again held up a finger hoping he would give her a second to regain some form of self composure. “And this is the exact reason we have the clinical term of Freudian slips. I am just gonna rewind this and start over.” In no way did she want the momentum to slow but Vanessa had just openly oogled her boss for a good five minutes. She had to save face somehow. Wiggling, she completed a circle as if this would somehow erase the last few minutes.
As she spun back around, Vanessa could not wipe the smile off her face. It was eager and happy. Nothing about her indicated she wanted anything to change or to be anywhere else. “Yes, you need to take off your pants. Other than that you will get the hem of your pants wet and no one likes walking around in wet clothes especially pants.”
“Well can’t let the pants I’m going to put through the cleaner get wet.” He wanted ask if she could handle it. She had turned an interesting shade of pink. He started by clicking of his duty boots. If the sand scuffed his shine he would be working on them for hours. https://famewatcher.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/terry-crews-speedo-for-mens-health-magazine.jpg “If I didn’t know better I would think you just want me to strip down.”
“Yes but I am going to need a middle name before we get to the bare essentials,” she shot back finally regaining some composure.
“I don’t have a middle name. So you are going to need to bypass that rule, although my marine buddies sometimes called me Hobbs.” It was a take off from the ancient comic strip Calvin and Hobbs. Where Hobbs was Calvin’s imaginary tiger friend in reality Hobbs was a stuffed animal of a child.
The sound of sea gulls cawing filled the air as a warm breeze rolled off the ocean. “Come here,” she waggled her fingers at Marius. “I want to show you something.” Her tone was soft and sultry. “You said nothing on this ship was probably going to surprise you but I am determined tonight to teach you something only I can…and maybe get a smile,” she cocked her head to the side slightly. “I promise not to push you too hard tonight and get a belly laugh. That will be the next time we hang out. A girl needs to set the pace.” The last sentence ended more like a question than a statement. It was flirty and fun with the cadence of someone enjoying every second of her conversation with him.
Vanessa Slade CNS
“I think you are showing plenty.” Marius caught up to her in the shallow, for now water. “Using the holodeck is cheating.” Marius didn’t like losing, conversely he did like what Vanessa was putting down and it was nice not to have to make all the decisions for a change.
Running her fingertips in the water around her, caused small eddies and waves to swirl about before getting sucked into the waves rolling to shore. “Oh baby you have not even begun to see what I have hidden beneath the surface however again you said,” she cocked her head and put on a quizzical expression, “there was pretty much nothing you haven’t seen on your ship before. Is that still true?”
Oh baby Marius frequently missed signs of women’s interest in him. Part of it was modesty, he didn’t think of himself as overly attractive, well muscled sure, but not that type of guy that women swooned over. But the ‘oh baby’ was something he received clearly. “Does my imagination count?” He was becoming more provocative than previous.
“If we were living in our imaginations I am not sure we would still be this far apart or still talking for that matter,” she countered sending a small splash of water towards him. “I am brave enough to say you have peaked my curiosity at what is running through your mind, Sir.” She used his rank in a way that would definitely raise a few eyebrows.
“Although you do have the old man curious.” He didn’t know what strange new things she could show him on a beach from Earth. He had been on Earth beaches a bunch of times and the Academy was in California, that whole state was just one long beach, although there were several things only a few millimeters of cloth kept from being exposed that certainly would be something he had never seen. He grasped her gesturing hand for a quick second. It was the first time he actually touched her. It didn’t go unnoticed by him. She had led in all of the flirtatiousness for good reason. Him being the aggressor as a superior officer was very much inappropriate. However he didn’t want to leave her out making all the first gestures all the time.
For the second time tonight Vanessa was speechless as he took her hand in his. The first thing she noticed was how small her hand looked in his. If he had placed his other hand over hers it would completely obscure it. His hand was also soft which was completely opposite of what one might think given his height and build. Calvin Marius was a mountain of a man twice her weight and a foot taller, but he also had something hidden just below the surface. It was a softer side that his rank and career probably prevented him from expressing except in rare instances like this. “Curious about what,” she traced the tips of her fingers along the palm of his hand until she could lace them with his.
“About what you propose to show me.” It could have just been the beach they were currently on. “And what you are thinking about next time. I’m already terrified about this time. You have both of us down to our skivvies and we are only about two hours in. I imagine that next time, being naked in the deserts of Africa trying to survive without food or water with only a knife as a tool for 21 days.” He paused. “That would make a good show, “In the Jungle Jiggling”, oh, “Sweating in the Savanna,” maybe, “Naked and Afraid.””
“Not yet naked but definitely not afraid.” Using his hand to steady her, Vanessa jumped up into his arms and kissed him. She had little doubt he would be able to support her and his prior calling as a Marine meant he would have the reflexes to catch her. If however, she was wrong on both accounts, the water and sand would break their fall.
Not yet naked an invitation if he ever heard one and he did like naked as most men did. She had actually tipped him off to the jump as she pulled slightly on his hand to launch herself out of the water. She didn’t carry a great deal of weight and he didn’t even have to change his footing to support her. The kiss was a little more of a surprise and his mind spun, he didn’t actually lean into the kiss as he wasn’t sure what was really going on. He probably should have but it was a dramatic change only an hour ago he was sitting in the lounge kind of bored. This woman was fearless.
Something about the way he was kissing made it far hotter than Vanessa expected. He definitely wasn’t rebuffing her, but he was far more reserved in his participation than she anticipated. Usually the roles were reversed. Women played demure and hard to get. Men tended to state what they wanted in a clear and concise manner. She understood why though. Calvin Marius was the captain. Everyone else was the crew. He had referred to her as a grenade earlier that night. She was bound and determine to make him pull the pin. Biting his lip, she pulled gently before letting it go. Moving her lips to his neck, she inhaled deeply as her fingertips made small circles tracing the base of his neck. “We should get you out of the water,” she whispered in his ear. “I think you are getting goosebumps.”
Calvin looped his free arm across her bottom hoisting her a little higher. His left fore-arm under her rear with a hand grasping just below her opposite hip. He had to raise her up, as his arm would not have been long enough to reach around her and he would have been forced to support her with a handful of her natural bounty… but that was a handful he wasn’t sure she would be comfortable with him grabbing at this moment.
Wrapping her legs around his waist, she moved back to kissing him. Every nerve was on fire and a shiver ran down her spine making her shake in his arms briefly. It had nothing to do with anxiety about what was going to happen. It was more like she felt like a time bomb ready to go off. It had been a long time since someone had made Vanessa feel this way.
He started somewhat surprised as he warmed to the kiss, not so much to the water as he separated from her slightly. “Oh my,” She had walked into the water pretty fearlessly, but Calvin guessed the water couldn’t be warmer than 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Not earth shatteringly cold but not what you wanted to jump into unless it was blazingly hot everywhere else. “I’m very much like cotton, I don’t do well in cold water.” He said with a snarky smile.
Marius
“Then let’s get out of the water and show me what you do well,” she whispered in his ear.
“You should be careful what you ask for.” There was a lot of things he did well, many of which she wasn’t going to see tonight, but her words were like a spark to a chamber of gas and he dove hungrily into her neck. His lips were hot and his goatee was surprisingly soft… almost feather like. There was a low growl in his throat.
“Computer add an eighty by ninety blanket to the beach,” she called out. Biting his ear, she whispered, “no one likes sand. It gets everywhere its not supposed to.”
Where that might be, boggled his imagination. Although it seemed like that it wasn’t going to be imagination too much longer.
He turned and carried her one handed to the shore. He felt the chest tightness that came with adrenaline of arousal. Some how he both gently placed her down on the blanket and held her with firm hands encasing her with just his forearms. She was surrounded by him and could quickly feel his interest. He pulled back from her neck … his chest hovering over her while the rest of his body melded with her. He licked his lips and made eye contact there was a lascivious lustful force behind them. Then he blinked for a moment stopping. “You…” He started. “I just want to be sure that you are okay with this.” He didn’t even know what this is or was going to be but his mind needed consent before his body was going to start making decisions faster than it could keep up. His wife has left without a word for a year about 18 months ago she returned and they were estranged for the next 2 months and again she left. So for all intents and purposes he was alone and single for almost two years. Lifting weights could only burn off so much energy.
Marius
Vanessa looked at him and blinked slightly. It was so hard to concentrate on anything but what she wanted, what she needed. His body was as hard as she imagined as she ran her palm flat against his back and broad shoulders trying to pull him closer to her. The weight of his body forced her into the soft sand. The only thing holding back the majority of his rippled physique was his knee planted firmly between hers. One word from her and this barrier would disappear. She could not move if she wanted to but the only move she wanted was a more rhythmic one matching his. Sliding her hand from lazily tracing an elliptical shape across his back, she reached up towards his cheek. “Get rid of any thoughts in your head that are not about living out everything you have been imagining for the past fifteen minutes. If I did not want this I would not have put you in this situation. Besides I am pretty sure my thoughts have been far more risque that yours.”
“I haven’t been able to process thought since you leapt into my arms.” Well it was one arm but he wasn’t going to nit pick. It was always an odd thing that first anything with a new person added so much adrenaline into your system that it could never be replicated. Perhaps that was the drug high that everyone was chasing after the first hit of heroin or any other hard chemical. Marius didn’t really know since he didn’t do drugs, he did do kissing. Maybe this was the thrill that made the ‘sex addicts.’ If so he could understand it for the moment.
“Excellent. It was the first part of my evil master plan which was obviously to be the one thing you haven’t seen on your ship before,” she let out a laugh and wiggled in the sand with a gesture that would have shown she was pleased with herself. “Want to know the rest of my plan?” Vanessa smiled enjoying the pure energy of the moment. Meeting people was awkward. Sex was easy. The next day could be messy. This moment was the sweet spot. Full of possibilities and no pressure. You had gotten past the point of figuring out how to say your name. At their ages, both of them new the mechanics so it was a matter of experience to define how memorable the sex would be. Marius already stated he could do a causal thing so Vanessa did not have to wonder if he would be there when she woke up or if she would need to make him breakfast. This brief moment in time let them be playful, and intimate, and allow for conversation as if they had been together for years with none of the awkwardness of saying the wrong thing or being beholden to bedroom promises. It was meant to entice and ramp up the endorphins that just made one feel amazing.
“My plan is to be that memory you have as a hundred-year-old man, sitting in some rocking chair somewhere. Out of nowhere a smile crosses your face and you say to the person next to you, there once was a brunette.” Vanessa left the end open for Marius to write the rest of his memory. It was way too early in the memory to define what came next.
A sultry smile spread across her face as she raked her bottom lip with her teeth. Removing her hand from his cheek she slapped him hard enough to feel it and make him focus entirely on her. “Now shut up and kiss me. That’s an order,” she lifted her head kissing him deeply pulling him towards her body.
Vanessa Slade CNS
He actually used her reaching kiss to help support her off the sand. It was the one conscious decision he could make as to be sure her back was lifted off the sand. Unknown, perhaps unremembered in the moment for many men was that if the woman’s back was on the sand/bed/floor it couldn’t be un-clipped and unclip he did. He smiled even before he glanced down, “And you said it wasn’t a nude beach.”
OOC: I’m guessing a fade to black is probably indicated for the pg-13 board rules.
OOC: I will follow your lead :)

“No, I said,” Vanessa felt her comment catch in her breath as he turned that smile her way. Long seconds passed as she was vaguely aware of struggling to try and think clearly. Finally finding a moment to take a deep breath she continued, “that it..wasn’t going to be,” she began to loose track of time again for a few seconds. Marius was making it hard to keep a train of coherent thought. “A nude beach until…I saw how good you were…or if you could,” she finally gave up trying to maintain the sweet spot of flirty banter. They had solidly moved into a different phase of the night. It could have been minutes or hours. Time seemed to blur and neither of the seemed to care.
Sometime later.....
Lying on her back, she wiggled slightly into the typical position of her head nestled against his shoulder with his arm around her shoulders looking up. Even if they were holographic stars, it was better than the typical view of ceiling tiles. “Impress me,” she said after a sigh rolling her head to look him in the eyes. “This only becomes a nude beach when I see how good you are at this and if you can impress me. For the record what was what I was trying to say when you were working particularly hard to not let me finish my sentence.” Vanessa let out a small laugh and let out a deep contented sigh.
“Well,” He paused. “I hope I made muster.” He said in an uniquely marine sort of way.
“I am not one hundred percent clear on what that means,” Vanessa admitted turning her face up to his, “but if it has anything to do with your ability to snap to attention and present arms then you not only made muster but are running the whole darn thing.” Stretching she placed a soft kiss on his lips before setting back into her spot.
“I hope you aren’t too tired.” Marius could be energetic normally, but he had gone quite a while without adult recreation so he was less restrained than normal.
“Nah you did most of the heavy lifting,” she let out a chuckle looking around their small spot on the beach. The myriad of foot prints and body part impressions on the once pristine sand showed they had stopped worrying about sand getting everywhere and only focused on the task at hand somewhere between leaving the water and finding their current position on the blanket.
“Although there are enough footprints around us it looks like we were storming the beach at Normandy.”
It would have been a pure lie if she stated that what had occurred was not somewhere on the list of things to do tonight with Calvin Marius since they left the lounge. It wasn’t however the only thing that had been on the list. Thinking about her mental list of things to do with the captain, she let the chuckle turn into a small bubble of laughter that shook her body slightly and plastered a goofy smile onto her face. She felt too good and too relaxed to try and keep up the mysterious persona of whether or not she was interested in carnal recreation. That ship had sailed the second she and Marius left the bar, booze pail in hand and fielding a conversation from her mother.

Marius was very alert to their whereabouts. “I’m sure we’ve overshot our holodeck allotment.” He slightly rocked her off of him as he collected both of their clothes.
“It’s 2 am so I wasn’t too worried about anyone just strolling in,” Vanessa leaned back on her elbows watching Marius move around the small space picking up what he needed.
He did a confirmation scan of the area. He reached out and grasped her hand, then pursed his lips,
Vanessa took his hand and felt the tingle starting in her tummy as they slipped into the see you around the portion of the night. This was always the most awkward part where you had to manage the goodbye it was fun or the overly excited rush to schedule a second rendezvous because it was amazing. Seeing him purse his lips, Vanessa closed her eyes and rose to her toes. Their encounter was definitely worth a kiss goodbye laced with the promise she wanted to do this again sometime. Unfortunately, the kiss did not happen the way she expected.
=^=Computer execute Marius E.T. 411.=^= The transporter caught them both quickly and in a sparkle they appeared in the Captain’s quarters. Well she had to assume it was his quarters, but the marine awards on the wall and the standing bar tipped it off.
“Oh…okay wow that was different,” Vanessa lowered herself off her tiptoes looking around. It would be a complete understatement to say Slade wasn’t impressed. Normally she and her partner left separately to ensure the tongue-wagging was at a minimum. Using the transporters was far easier and far more discrete. Glancing around the room, her eyes fell on the medals and awards adorning the walls.
“Privileges of being a Captain and a former security chief. I have a half a dozen of these pre-programed protocols. E.T. is for the extraterrestrial who always wanted to phone home.” He gestured about… “Home.”
“So is that in reference to you being an alien or an introvert,” she let out a laugh that was far more vivacious than a semi-witty comment. Running her fingers through her hair and avoiding his eye contact for a second, Vanessa composed herself. “Sorry I just had this image of,” she grew serious for a half a heart beat before continuing. “I had this image of six months from now where we are at some social event. I leave to get us drinks and you ET your butt out and back to your quarters where I find youtwo hours later in sweats, with a beer, watching some sporting event.” It was clear she found the idea amusing somewhere in her subconscious. The moment of uneasiness about if he would read to much into her random comment was gone. She had already jumped hip-deep into the pool of not caring about if Marius thought she was sane or not.
“Six months from now,” Marius started. She was doing some planning. It wasn’t quite out of line of what he wanted. He wasn’t really a one night stand sort of guy, even less so with his own crew and someone so junior to him. So he was pleased and nervous at the same time.
=^=Computer overwrite the transport as ‘Captain Ordered to His Quarters, plus one,’ “=^= Marius didn’t remove the data of the transport, which security protocols and just hard data recording altering would be near impossible for good science officers and impossible for the captain to do. He could however overwrite to easily accessed record to something less obvious than Marius and Slade to the Captains Quarters, which almost screamed… ‘The Captain slept with the ship counselor.’ =^=Notify me if this data file is accessed… oh and deactivate holodeck one.=^=
Still not dressed, Marius walked to his bar and pulled out two rocks glasses - he poured a brown liquor into both. He moved to the couch in the room and sat, holding out the second glass to her. “Now there is no need to rush off… unless you want to.”
Marius
“I don’t have anywhere to be and I don’t have to call my mom unless I am staying out all night.” She cast him a flirty glance making light of his earlier comment about having to call her mommy earlier in the evening. Vanessa grabbed Marius’s t-shirt and slipped it over her shoulders. The shirt hung long enough to barely cover the parts that were the most interesting. She didn’t bother to put on anything but the t-shirt. It would be a waste. Moving across the room, Vanessa moved with the practiced precision to ensure Marius had to pick what was going to hold his attention the most: The pace of her stride, the sway of her hips, the flirty smile on her face, the mop of disheveled hair falling around her face that required it to be placed repeatedly behind on ear or the sound of her barefeet softly stepping in the silent room.
“I guess then it good that you got your call of before the evening started.”
If Marius were a normal man he would have shirts that were more ‘comfortable’ cuts for his oversized frame, but his shirts were taut. Even so, they were clearly spacious enough for a normal sized woman to pretty much wear as a dress. He thought to himself, well I’m not getting that one back. On the other hand, since he hadn’t had a new partner in nearly a decade, one shirt every 10 years was a small price to pay. Not to mention, it did look good on her. He made no effort to conceal his appreciative looks as he scanned her from foot to the top of her head.
“Pfft,” she waved a hand. “I just put them on mute or we would still be standing in knee deep water wondering if my mother would ever come up for a breath of air as she chattered away.”
“That’s a lot of tough talk when your mother can’t hear you.”
Taking the drink from his hand, Vanessa proceeded to sit on his lap with her knees tucked tight around his hips so she could face him. “So per the pre-set rules we established at the bar, my only question is after the second round of calisthenics is there breakfast involved? Normally I am sleeping and not working out all night so I will be ravenous.” Taking a slow sip of her drink, she kept rapt attention on the man in front of her. Vanessa loved toying with the man in front of her because every once in a while his familiar neutral expression slipped into a smile.
“Absolutely, it would be the neighborly thing. Not that I ever did that to my neighbor.” Calvin glanced at her, very close, particularly warm, but not showing too much as the shirt was an unremarkable tee that wasn’t form fitting for her. He shimmed a little underneath her to make himself comfortable. It was inevitable nature would take its course, but both she and he had to know what would eventually occur.
“That is so sad for your neighbor,” Vanessa shot back letting Marius’ hands settle her into a less obvious position. “Although,” she let the word hand in the air, “I am pretty sure you would either run out of replicator credits or money as she came over daily looking for a cup of milk for her morning coffee.”
“Flatterer. I don’t have women knocking down my door for a slice of Marius.” He rolled his shoulders which caused his entire upper body to ripple. It was a visual effect. “I’m certain your football team of brothers had to work much harder than anything I’ve ever experienced to keep your honor intact.”
“Now the question is who makes breakfast… which is a question of the interpretation of the situation. You invited me, so by that theory breakfast should be on you. This happens to be my quarters so then it should be on me, on the other hand I did all the hard work,” He pursed his lips, “but… it was all over that body…” He took a sip of his whiskey and rested the glass on the armrest of his couch. Had he know she’d be sitting on his lap he would have chosen the chair as the armrests would have been closer and forced her legs to be tighter about him.
Leaning forward, Vanessa kissed him softly on the lips. It wasn’t the type of kiss to incite a round of stretching before diving into high aerobic activity. It was more the type to make you start thinking about grabbing your towel and heading towards the gym. Whatever this thing was with Marius, it was easy and comfortable. The awkward after did not seem to be rearing its ugly head; however, it really never had stopped from the fun and flirty banter about the promises of exciting things about to occur. From Vanessa’s vantage point, she did not need to flip to page twenty of the Kama Sutra to know they would be facing off sooner rather than later. The kiss was broken fast enough that Marius would be able to remain at a controlled at ease for the moment. “Don’t worry. She can handle it captain,” Vanessa said softly quoting the famous line of any engineering chief.
Rocking back she settled into the new spot Marius had shifted her into. “I suggest a compromise about breakfast,” Vanessa took a sip of her drink and rested it in the middle of her chest.
“There is a negotiation theory is a compromise is a situation where both parties are unhappy, but what did you have in mind?” Breakfast making was over-rated the replicator could make anything on request so it would not be a difficult process no matter how it turned out.
“I make you breakfast and you make me breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day plus,” she pointed an index finger at his chest indicating what she was about to say held importance. “It will tell us a lot about the other person. What we need to figure out that is more important than what we eat is how we are going to make it.” Shifting slight, she wiggled purposefully on his lap. The evil part of Vanessa wanted to torture Marius just a little. She wanted to see how long he could retain the relaxed calm he was attempting to show relaxing back in the chair with a drink in one hand. Reaching over her head with her arms, she shifted and wiggled again slightly on his lap pretending to stretch. The smile was sly showing she knew exactly what she was doing when she looked back at Marius. “If we use the replicators it will take a whole lot less time than if we bust out the pots and pans....unless you don’t have a pot or a pan?” Vanessa hadn’t even thought about replicating breakfast until this second. “It really doesn’t matter except for the time involved.”
He shook his head, “Cooking, cooking?” He questioned. “Not in my quarters. I have to go to the mess to do anything like that without preparation.” He had cooked in his quarters but that had been a planned even. “I guess if you wanted to really put this to the test. We could go to the Captain’s Yacht.” Which he always kind of thought of as his secret space, that everyone knew about but no one went. “But its an easy task for you, I generally have an omelet, egg white usually, but not always. Sometimes a protein shake, or yogurt. Calvin likes yogurt.”
“I only ask because I have this boss with a hard-line rule about calling out sick after drinking all night. There is no way I am going to be late. I plan on being on duty ten minutes before he shows so I need to account for time so I can be on time.”

Marius shook his head. “I certainly can’t write a sick note for this.” Now with both hands he shifted her to an even more comfortable position. She certainly had him at a disadvantage. “But at your age with enough coffee you should be able to deal with a couple hours loss of sleep. Especially, if you burn enough energy to put you into deep REM.” He thought of an Ice Cube Song, ‘It was a good.’
Marius
“My age,” Vanessa let out a laugh. “You know I am not that young. I just act young and reckless.” Taking her cup she leaned back knowing it would force Marius to put his hands on her waist to prevent her from falling off his lap.
“Thirty is young,” Marius didn’t quite do as planned. One hand went to her waist/lower back, but the second went to her buttocks, both hands pulled her closer to his body. The pressure against her grew. He closed he’s eyes for a moment. The action was strangely pleasurable for him… perhaps a little invasive for her.
Righting herself, she reached over and took the glass from his hand on the armrest and downed the last swallow of his drink. “Maybe you should take an attempt at putting me on the straight and narrow path as the saying goes.” Vanessa leaned down setting his cup on the floor. “Fair warning,” she leaned in kissing his neck until she moved her lips to his ear and whispered, “I am a slow learner. It might take a while.”

He looked hurt as she drank both his drink and hers. “Its a little early in our relationship to show you how insolence is dealt with in the Captain’s quarters. However, taking my drink is something that could lead to severe consequences.” Marius wasn’t joking when he said he had a couple of flags that she would be surprised at. Now to be fair he suspected that she would be more surprised that he had it, not surprised about what it was.
He however tested the waters, he raised his hand from the middle of her back to her hair. He was fairly sensual about it but got a grasped a handful of hair after a while, as he pulled on it slowly, but firmly. “I have ways to teach lessons.” He in turn held her in place as he kissed deeply on her neck. The teasing could go both ways.
