As the young ensign is going to sickbay to work she then realized that she forgot she is also a sub DH for science. She wanted to get things done at sickbay so she can do her job.Ensign Angel
Vanessa walked into sickbay looking for the first doctor available. At a quick glance, she looked absolutely fine. Her color was good. She had no cough or fever. It was only when someone looked at her thumb, the reason for her visit would be apparent. At the base of her right thumb, a large purple-green bruised seemed to encircle her finger like a thumb ring. The area was swelling slightly indicating she had probably sprained it. “Hello,” Vanessa walked up to the nearest doctor. “Do you have time to check this out or should I come back later,” she held up her hand for the doctor to see the injury.

“No come on in Lt. What can I do for you?” Miss Angel asked the CNS. “I am currently available right now. So go ahead and sit on a bio bed and tell me what happened.” She said.

“I was with a client and I am pretty sure I sprained my thumb,” she said moving to a biobed. Vanessa had come to realize early on in her career never to use the word patient. Technically they were her patients under the medical status and her licensure however the term patient implied there was an illness. Many forms of psychiatric and psychological disorders were illnesses but there were so many other reasons to come to a psychologist. Broken hearts, advice, pep talks, or more personal matters that troubled one weren’t disorders. They were conditions. To call everyone a patient misdefined them. To call them all clients, took away the very real issues of mental health disorders. In the end, Vanessa let the individuals refer to themselves the way they wanted but she had settled on the macro term client when talking in public.
Holding out her hand, she showed the doc her thumb. Scans would indicate she had indeed sprained her thumb by hyperextending it.

“Alright Lt. I’ll go ahead and get it taken care of.” As she was taking care of it and started to heal it with a medical tool that she used once. “Lt. I know I have checked in with you before. But uh there was something that I never talked to you about. You have time in your office that I can talk to you about?” As she asked. “There. Good as new.” She said as she finished.

“Absolutely and my air hockey hand is back in use,” Vanessa wiggled her hand smiling at how much better it felt. Sven Jorgenssen was a bit aggressive when they were playing during his session however, Vanessa did have a large competitive streak of her own. She had no qualms about kicking someone’s butt in air hockey during a therapy session. She was still doing therapy and just giving in felt wrong somehow even if that meant having to come to sickbay with a sprained thumb. “Just drop by when you are ready. The door is always open,” she smiled at Ensign Angel.

“Thank you counselor. I’ll drop by after I’m out of here. And hopefully you can help me with it. I hope.” She smiled at the counselor.
