Thomas cast a wary eye on every building they approached. Even for an industrial area, there should be some late workers or at least some security guards somewhere. Someone who may have noticed the brightness and noise of a transporter and decided to investigate. He kept his hand near his phaser pistol.

COS

As they approached each building, there was a security guard post and the tricorder showed the presence of primitive security cameras about the fence.

GM

Thomas hadn’t been the only one paying attention to Security as they were walking. Reia had decided that if planetary security was going to leave them alone, it was best to keep a low profile as Sage had ordered them to do.

Reia, CIO/Comms

“Know any way of wiping our presence off those cameras?” Thomas asked Reia, sotto voce.

Reia shook her head and looked at Thomas.

“It would be too complicated sir. We would basically have to get into the camera control room of each building a run a recorded loop specific to each camera because we can’t do it from the tricorder as we walk by. If I had known this was going to be an issue before hand perhaps we could have worked out something on the Genesis. I think the best thing to do right now is just continue on and stay out of the view of the cameras.

Ben crept closely to Thomas. Ben hushly whispered “Commander McGregor, how long will this recon take?”

Park

“As long as Dr. Brennan says,” Thomas whispered back. “At least you’ve been on the Bridge for this, I have next to no idea what’s even going on.”

OOC: Had a brain fart and answered the wrong post. I’m putting here in the right placer. Sorry!!!

They reached the gate to the park without incident (unless you want to make something happen GM). None of the buildings had lit up as they passed them, so Sage believed they were being quiet enough. She hoped their luck would continue as she turned east once they found the road. “Not much farther along we should come upon the house of one of the people that contributed to their warp engine.” She consulted the small map on the tricorder screen. They wouldn’t have to walk for very long.

They were about 100 metres fr0m the research lab in question. There was one person in the camera control room and another person in the adjoining room seated by a chair. From the tricorder scans, the man in the adjoining room was probably taking a break to have a hot drink.

GM

Thomas considered the situation. They definitely outnumbered the two in the building, the trick would be getting in and subduing both without an alarm being raised.

COS

“Alright, it looks as if only two people are on duty. (GM are there more people in the lab? or just the night guards?) We should make this a two pronged entrance. Shandy, you and I will continue around the building to find another way in while McGregor and Park go in through the front door. Once inside we’ll head for your location. If you have to stun someone, go ahead, but it would be best if no one knew we were here.”

OOC: There are only the two guards in the compound.

Reia nodded and checked that her weapon was on stun and followed Sage.

Thomas nodded, then once the ladies had vanished around the corner, gave a small sigh.

“Alright, Park, let’s get our sneak on,” he whispered, dropping into a crouch and slowly approaching the front door, examining it with both eyes and tricorder to see if a) it was locked and 2) how easy any such lock would be to bypass.

‘This is almost literally the worst possible plan,’ he thought to himself. ‘We might as well knock and say Hi, we’re aliens who’ve already learned how to operate a warp drive, want any tips?‘

He also noted that Dr. Brennan hadn’t given any guidance on what they were to do once they made entry, which also slightly rankled.

COS

The door was not locked and it seemed that the one in the adjoining room was taking a nap. According to the tricorder, he was seated on a chair, drifting off to sleep but was not in deep sleep. The guard in the main room was wide awake. There were two entrances from where the Starfleet officers were: one directly into the main camera room, and the other, around the corner to the adjoining room. The adjoining room had an exit into the main building.

‘Huh,’ Thomas thought. ‘Well, if we’re quiet enough, we might be able to not wake Mr. Snoozy, but the camera-watching man could be trouble…’

He consulted the tricorder again, looking to see 1) if either man was armed, and if so with what, and 2) if their entry via the main door would be seen on the camera, and thus likely to give the Watcher cause to raise an alarm.

OOC: I apologize for my AWOL, I’ve had a really tough several days but I’m finally coming out of it. Also, I thought we were supposed to find the guy who contributed to their warp drive? I might have misunderstood that. :(

IC:
Brennan and Shandy continued around the outside of the building looking for another way in. A two pronged entrance was better than everyone going through the same door and risking immediate discovery. Sage was hoping they would be able to access records and information to tell them more about the population and their development. “Do you see a way in?”

Reia had been using her tricorder to scan as well as taking a thorough visual inspection of her own.

“That’s what I’m looking for Ma’am. I hope you don’t mind climbing thorough a window if necessary.” she whispered.

The two doors had electronic locks that would be easily unlocked once the tricorder can assess the locking mechanism. The mechanism was of rather primitive technology.

Eventually, the women found an opening and entered the building. Just as Sage said they would, they headed towards the front of the building to meet up with Park and McGregor. Shandy’s tricorder said there were only two people monitoring that particular building. With a bit of luck and stealth the landing party would have them under control and would be able to learn something about their situation.

“Apparently the building only has two occupants. I believe we can easily subdue them and learn everything we need.” she whispered to Sage.

Thomas followed their progress on his own tricorder, absolutely astonished that the dual entries into the building hadn’t alerted the guard in the security center. Sure, it was the middle of the night, but this kind of inattention to his duty was inexcusable. What if they’d been there to steal or sabotage the research? They’d have been able to accomplish it easily, if the security was this lax.

COS

Then he caught sight in his tricorder that there was a camera up on one of the lamp posts near the building. This camera makes a sweep of the whole compound every 20 minutes as it rotated on an axis. As the cameras on the fences were supposed to detect illegal entry into the compound, the camera served as an additional layer of security. It was lax by Federation standards, but they were not on a planet bound by Federation standards. The field of vision of the camera would be coming across the away team in 60 seconds.

GM

OOC: If the two groups are already in the building, the camera on the lamp post isn’t anything to worry about, right?

IC:
The women made it to the hallway just outside of the control room where one guard was working. They could see that McGregor and Park were also in the building. Sage hit her combadge and whispered into it. =/\=We’ve got the control room, you two take the break room. On my count we’ll enter at the same time.=/\=
