Valleea smiled and traced her fingers along the silk ribbons that were stitched into the fabric. When she looked up, for a moment there was a genuine contentedness. “You know, I’m starting to think there’s something weird about this ship. I keep talking to people I don’t even know in rather open ways. Trust me, it’s not normal. She smiled more. “Thank you, for listening.”

Marishka smiled and laughed.

“This ship brings out very interesting things in people. For example, I have never had a polite and genuinely enjoyable conversation with another female that’s lasted quite this long. Most women find a reason not to like me.” she said with a mischievous smile.

Valleea smiled and then chuckled. “Well, I know there are supposed to be some sort of stereotypes about Orion women, but you are far more than that and I know what it’s like to be expected to fit into a neat and tidy package. I don’t, so why would I expect it of others? Besides, I too have found it surprisingly enjoyable. We should do it again sometime.”

“But for now I think I should probably try to sleep. I have a nasty tendency to stay up way too late to avoid the inevitable dreams and then I suffer from sleep deprivation and more symptoms from my PTSD,” Valleea said with a slightly sheepish smile.

Marishka smiled in return and set the glasses aside.

“I believe I sleep far less than a lot of other species but it is a rare fleeting commodity which we should all enjoy as often as we can. I’m sorry for your nightmares. Perhaps we should do this again but, for now, good night Doctor.” Marishka said slowly rising to her feet.
