“That sounds marvelously intimate,” he said, earnestly. It was. It was more than anything he could imagine. And that was saying something from a joined Trill. As an engineer he could follow the ‘connectivity’ of everything. As a being, he was a little more hesitant, however, but there was an inner excitement about it all. He could communicate with Thor but that was more a physical and electric connection with his own nervous system. “You are amazing,” he said, honestly. He wondered hat would cause them to opt to not renew their subscription. He pondered back to OP42 with Lisa and how they had chosen to, in effect, do the same. He wasn’t so happy about it himself, but she wasn’t wanting to relocate and he needed to move on to rebuild his life. To this day he has wondered if that was the right thing to do. The heart and the mind were still in a battle. “Is this bond something that can happen with non-Heleen,” he asked.
- Dagen , CE

The blue swirls at her temples pulsed a bit in their color depth. Was this a Heleen blush? “Thank you Dagen.” she sang.
“Yes apparently it is. My half sister, she’s the CNS on the USS Athena, she’s bonded now to a Caitian. A big black hairy Caitian, can you imagine that? I haven’t met him yet, but apparently his fur is very comfy and fluffy.” she sang earnestly.

  • Shalahn, nurse

He caught himself smiling at her coloration change. The way that her skin and frills swirled and changed color was like staring into an interactive holo-painting. For that it was simply intriguing to see what new pattern might appear. With Shalahn it was extremely personal, and, to some degree, at least to Dagen, erotic in its own. She was like a violet sky with wispy clouds that would form and change and captivate the eyes and imagination.

Speaking of imagination, Dagen let out a small cough and blushed on his own. It likely didn’t look nearly as interesting as hers. “I think I can,” he said quietly; he was not a Caitian but he still was rather ‘bushy’ as his sister Deela had described him many years back. He was coming into his teens and felt that he looked shaggy compared to other boys his age; Deela as a child just called him ‘bushy’. He was having trouble just standing at the moment. “Would you care to dance, Shalahn?” he asked. “Something sedate so I don’t trip over my feet?” He set his glass down and gestured for her to join him.

That would give him a moment or three to think. What on Trill was he doing inquiring about ‘mixed’ mating that sent a thrill through him? Did he want to do this again? Did he want to step into something that would have this ‘annual renewal’ and essentially put his life into chaos each year? He knew he would have this ‘triad’ of conversation at some time between his heart, his head and the slug who always had his two credits to toss into things. The little guy was like a spectator sitting on the edge of his seat just waiting for the next dramatic thing to happen. Or, as Dagen had rendered the metaphor, the slug wearing a toque while sitting atop a ‘snow board’ just waiting for Dagen to give him a push.

OOC: haha, great mind-pic

Shalahn nodded in her wobbly way, imitating the human gesture. Then she laid her hand in his. As their skin made contact, he suddenly became strangely more aware of her. Similar to the holodeck, but there was no telepathic connection. It was more like the empathic talent of a half-betazoid. He felt her excitement and her acute interest in him, and yes, that butterfly feeling was there as well.

  • Shalahn, nurse

‘She’s never going to get that right,’ Dagen thought, seeing her head wobble-nod, ‘and,’ he added, ‘in some odd way I hope she never does.’ It wasn’t that he didn’t care that she got ‘right’ but that, in her own way, that was how it was done. And he got it.

Dagen found himself surprised at the kind of connection, but wasn’t averse to it at all. The tingle was there in the contact but it was more emotional than physical, like knowing the look in anothers’ eyes and the feeling that it matched one’s own. “If there was a specific dance style to this music I’m afraid that my attempt will look nothing like it,” he said with a half grin. Lisa had tried to show him some dance steps. As much as he was, or had been, a fair mixed martial artist which required some coordination, dancing eluded him for coordination. “Her excitement was invasive and he felt himself responding to that stimulus, if that was what it was. He himself had his own nervousness, but that was more of his inner pride of looking foolish or stepping on toes. But that said, this was something he wanted to do so when they reached their destination he took a breath and relaxed.

Turning to face Shalahn, he took both her hands and caught her eyes. Thankfully the music, this time, was not upbeat but sedate. He led her in a swaying motion, shuffling back and forth to the music, their arms swaying together in the direction of their shuffle. As he relaxed, Dagen said, “When you like, we’ll do the same but you put your hands on my shoulders.” That thought sent a jolt of excitement through him; he was old enough to not say that much - especially with having three other ‘hosts’’ memories going with him - was new, but for Dagen there were some things that was just .. personal. “Do you have dancing on your world?” he asked. No matter what anyone said, her eyes were hypnotic. Or maybe it was the whiskey. Or both.
- Dagen, Eng

She fell into the swaying motion with him easily. “Yes we do, it is a bit more … acrobatic? I’m not sure what the right word is but I could show you.” she suggested. Then she moved closer to him, wrapping her arms around his neck, laying one hand on his shoulder blade and the other on the back of his neck. This was exactly how Ensigns Lewis and Talyor were dancing next to them. Of course they were a couple, but Shalahn didn’t know that, she just imitated their posture.

“Acrobatic,” he said with a soft grin that was half amusement and half more easily flowing thanks to the whiskey. Well, synthetic stuff anyway. He wasn’t sure whether to be happy with this Ferengi innovation or not. It just seemed like cheating. Why did he have the feeling that he would be thinking ‘I’m getting too old for this’ if he accepted this invitation. Some of the ‘old’ Dagen happy go lucky character came out in him, however, and he said, “I’d like that. Do I need lessons?”

He was caught by surprise as she moved closer and melded herself to him. Rather oblivious to what was going on around him he missed the ‘copycat’ action in the face of a wash of feelings that hit him like a freight train. It was a mix of memory, the sensations of her soft warmth that had him catch his breath, and longings creeping to the surface that he had been holding down, like a beach ball under the water. Before he knew it, with her closer, his arms having more reach, he had slipped his arms more around her to meet lightly, naturally at the small of her back.

With their faces so close to each other, Dagen would see that the more he focused on the fine blue swirling ‘frillings’ on her pale skin, the finer those lines would appear, very unlike an artificial tattoo on human skin, where the lines inevitably bled out after a few years.

  • Shalahn

Later, recalling this moment, he wouldn’t be able to say whether he had done anything by intent or instinct or simply spontaneous. He knew that the instant Shalahn became closer his heart sped up, and the way her ‘frillings’ were it was like looking at the molecular makeup of a gel pack .. the more and closer one looked the more detail one found. “You are amazing,” he said on a breath. When had one of his hands come up to so lightly brush at those swirls? He didn’t know but he had done it, then realized that he had and lifted it away. A blush crept up his cheeks and the concern that he had crossed a line somewhere, but her hand at his neck was hot and he wasn’t moving away.

  • Dagen, Eng

She didn’t shy away from the caress, on the contrary her smile widened and the last bit of stiffness left her posture as she surrendered herself fully to his embrace and his motions. “You as well, just as much, I just think you have forgotten that… both of you.” they swayed for a bit longer and she broke the eye contact and laid her head on his shoulder.

Dagen relaxed; her smile was infectious and he smiled back. Focusing less on his surroundings and his motions he placed his attention on her. Shalahn’s eyes caught him and held him more than his physical hold on her. Her words sunk in and his emotions swelled. He was sure she felt that but then the Trill did not have many filters to his emotions. He himself found he needed the affirmation over the years. It began when he was young with the other ‘men’ of the family. He could get so wrapped up in himself and to see the faults of one close up that it took someone else looking on the outside to speak differently. “Thank you,” he said, quiet and sincere. As her head moved to his shoulder his hand moved every so lightly to her nape and just let his fingertips brush there, lost in the sudden touch of her mind. It was sweet and feather light, like a kiss in the dark.

He felt the touch of her mind and then he and his symbiont heard her thoughts in his mind
* You both feel like two who are one and vice versa and you feel so familiar for some reason, more so than anybody else I’ve met since I left Heel. It must the be the experience of many centuries that draws me so to you. It changes a being. To me those around us are nothing but children in so many ways *

  • Shalahn

He considered her words and smiled, his eyes now scanning the room and touching upon many there. To her they would be children. To him they were … he replied, I’ve known birth. And death. I’ve given birth and sired children. I’ve lived whole lives and carry the weight of their follies and their wisdom. I can look at many here and feel their youth. I am not sure that I can feel your years, Shalahn, but I am a as many. Whole lives looking out. I’ve not had one youth, but four. She could certainly sense his attraction to her. They were different, but had something common too. Thor knows your years and sees as you. And I feel that too when we connect. His head tipped down and his cheek brushed her forehead. Some distance away the music reached his ears; the song would soon end as would this moment. But it was one memory that he knew would last.
- Dagen

Bump :)

She felt herself wishing this moment would last for much longer and she didn’t hide the wish in their lightly linked minds, she knew he felt the same. Why oh why hadn’t she learned to channel in time manipulation. It was a very hard channel to learn for sure, harder than telepathy, but then she could have stopped time for the both of them for a bit. She had a cousin who had learned that channel.
But being able to connect with another mind had always attracted her more than any other channel and now it enabled her to communicate with this marvellous being. She had always told her younger sister Laraan that having a mate from a different species was folly. Especially a hairy one like that big black furry Caitian Laraan had chosen for her mate. But right now Shalahn felt her conviction waver… but then, she had to remind herself… however old he felt, the host would still day while she would still be in her prime. The thoughts dampened her mood somewhat and she realised he’d feel that through their mind link, so she tried to steer them back to the happy place she was in right now.

  • Shalahn

Dagen did not think he was jumping into any relationship. As the song ended his mind swam like he had had considerably more to drink than he had. He hadn’t jumped. Somehow he was feeling he had done a downhill ski into .. something. Yet each touch of her mind was not causing him to crash but to fall into a soft cushion. He sensed what she was thinking, feeling, and a single thought came to his mind. Later he would have no clue what or where or how that thought came to him. Or why he simply spoke it. “One year at a time. One step at a time.”

Her eyes widened at his words but through their link he felt not only her surprise but also her agreement.

His mother would be so thrilled, he thought and hoped. More so he hoped that her son being in a relationship would draw her out of herself and she would be better. He guided her to an ice blue cushioned seat that was against a wall of curved ice. Sitting down next to her, he took a fine, blue hand in his. “He focused on her frills and swirls in her blue skin, admiring her amazing details. She was like a portrait that was complete but still being worked on and each ‘edit’ drew him in more and more. Dagen found Shalahn’s eyes again. She had seemed confused and was not sure what she wanted to do. This Trill had caused that. It caused a pang in him when he remembered his first real flame .. a half Vulcan whose ‘emotions’ were breaking out and threatened to break her too. Shalahn was different in this. It was more ethics than internal. He fought that inside him for many moments as he looked at her, then let out a “Oh hell,” and quickly leaned in and kissed her.
- Dagen, CE

Her lips were… warm. Indeed wherever he touched her skin, it felt warm to the touch. If he had thought that this would be like kissing a virgin, simply because of her alienness, he had guessed wrong. It quickly became apparent that Heleen and Humans shared that form of intimacy and that Shalan was no novice at it. She leaned into the kiss and into him with an eagerness that was not timid at all.

  • Shalahn

After a moment of pleasant surprise, Dagen pressed in, his hand slowly moving to rest at her jaw/neck. It would be so easy to lose himself in this here and now. Past hosts had all seen intimacy as something totally different from one another. One one side of the scale was Thrace who was more of a hedonistic user who tended to attract partners of the same ilk right on through to the other end of the scale - or so he thought. As his mind started in this line of thinking, he thrust it out in favor of the moment now. That moment was shattered in a moment with …

At that moment one of the security Ensigns came by… Mario was his name. He had already had a few drinks, and since the Captain had lifted the alcohol ban for the rest of the evening he was swaggering by more than he was walking. He was still obviously security, with a large and wide built, but he had been on the Genesis since forever, never quite made a promotion and didn’t seem to overly care.

When he saw them kissing he made a clucking sound that sounded oddly vulgar. “Hey hey, finally somebody gets the silent blue nurse all loosened up. Hey my man, you gotta tell me if those blue tattoos are everywhere tomorrow.” he brawled.

  • Mario Gobel, sec

A flash of anger ran through him. It was an entire mix of offense, surprise, rising rage, instinctive male protectionism, and who knows what other kind of evolutionary senses wrapped up in a bundle of him just not being ‘impressed’. Mix that with what he himself had had to drink - albeit modest - he broke off from the kiss and shot a ‘if looks could kill’ glance. In a second he was up. This Mario was younger and no doubt faster than him, but Dagen could hold his own if need be. While one might hear the same thing in a locker room and pass it off as just brash testosterone idiocy, setting was everything. He clutched the front of Mario’s shirt with his left hand to get his attention and drew near. When he spoke it was through clenched teeth. “Now listen and listen good. If you are looking for a fight I’ve done so with Admirals. My guess is you are simply looking for attention. And attention you will get. Tomorrow, Ensign, you will report to engineering for a special assignment. In the meantime you ‘will’ apologize, because we both ‘know’ that you’re not meaning what you are saying. Isn’t that right?” By his tone and his inflection, Dagen was giving him a chance to ‘wise’ up barring more serious implications. What Dagen wanted to do was slug him, and part of him was just holding back on that. As much as he did want to do this, he knew that all the same it wouldn’t look good for one of the ‘hosts’ of the party to get into a brawl. Still, all that logic was in a fuzzy cloud of emotion that held some weight but was just at the edge of a cliff.
