V’Lat had always hated Counsellors, not the people just the profession. He took a quick glimpse at himself to check for anything that would make him look informal, he found nothing.

He raised his hand to knock. He hesitated for a moment before pushing through and delivering a quick two knocks before asking.
“Ensign Morton checking in?”

V’Lath looked up from the PADD on his desk, “Please, come in.” V’Lath was somewhat surprised to see a young Vulcan come through the door. The surname Morton denoted earth origins of some kind. “Please have a seat, let me pull up your records.” V’Lath tapped a few icons on his PADD and extended his hand. “I will understand if you prefer not to shake hands, it is an earth greeting after all. Any way welcome aboard. ” V’Lath glanced at this PADD. “I really don”t see anything here that requires immediate attention. Can I get you anything, the replicator makes a fine cup of Vulcan coffee?” V’lath sat back, sipped his own coffee and studied the young ensign before him.
