Just as quickly as he appeared the young security officer had disappeared “Huh” Magnus looked at the security Chief with a perplexed look “Twenty years in the fleet and I can still be surprised” He said rubbing the back of his neck “Wilkinson… He hasn’t been on the ship long has he” He asked McGregor with a half smile.

XO

“Hardly any time,” Thomas confirmed. “I’ll admit, I’m a bit concerned about the speed at which this seems to have come together.”

COS

Magnus nodded “Oh to be young and in love” He said with a tinge of humor in his voice “You ever been engaged Thomas?” He asked.

XO

“No,” Thomas replied. “Haven’t even really dated since prep school. I’m ace-aro,” he explained.

COS

Magnus gave the other man a confused look and didn’t speak for a moment “Prep school” He said after the short pause “Is that like the junior-senior highschool system they have in the old United States?” the Icelander asked as he returned to the bicycle machine.

“It is that,” Thomas said. “Just a special school aimed at preparing students for the Academy. Live in barracks, extra physical education, wear a uniform, the whole nine yards.”

COS

Magnus immediately started to push up his exercise, getting back at where he was before their interesting interruption “Interesting, I didn’t really aim for the Academy until my cousin convinced me to enlist, although by that time I didn’t have too hard a time getting in. Did you go the Earth Academy?”

XO

“Yeah,” Thomas said, wrapping up the stair machine and moving over to a treadmill, starting with a light jog. “Honestly, before my posting to the Genny-A, I had never really left Earth for more than a month.”

COS

Magnus chuckled at his comment “Funny, before my first assignment to the academy I hadn’t spent more than a week on Earth at a time since the war ended. I try to make it home every chance I get to meet my family but nowadays most of us are spread across the Federation, I’m hoping to visit Oed the next time we go to Black Rock, I have some family there I haven’t seen in a while.”
