Captain Calvin, Ensign Matthys reporting for duty. Ha! duty, sorry captain.

OOC: Welcome aboard <— as you see I put OOC at the beginning of this post meaning out of characters which means this is a note outside of the normal flow of the game. Just a heads up we write in a third person format… kind of like reading a book. Plus some details of where you happened to run into the captain would help me respond. At the end of the post you put your name so in a complex thread we know who’s talking.

Calvin Marius was not usually known for his friendly demeanor, but for young ensigns he had a soft spot. He walked down the corridor to this newly frocked and apparently social ensign with an atypical smile. The over six foot muscular Captain resembled a football linebacker more than a Star-Fleet Captain. “Welcome aboard Ensign.” He paused.

“Have you reported to your department head, medical, and psych departments? If not, in that case while appreciated, Mr. Thor, Dr. Brennan, and Counselor V’Lath might be the people you need to speak to first.”

Matthys saluted the captain and said: “I just did exactly that captain”

“Did you now?” He questioned. Matthys was new, the Captain knew the boarding schedule. He guessed it was possible he had checked in with all the necessary departments. “There wasn’t much in your file ensign. Why don’t you tell me a little about yourself.”

Matthys shrugged, “Um, ok I have South African heritage, my parents are south African, and I grew up in New Zealand and moved to America when I was 16”

“And why did you move from New Zealand?” He paused as he thought. “Are you South African from Africa or from Europe origins?” Sometime descriptions about countries of origin were not particularly informing since of the course of the centuries people melded, merged, and diverged in ways that were inexplicable.

Marius leaned against a bulkhead looking like he was getting comfortable for a long conversation.
