“I like music, and am often playing the guitar. Though I am working on different instruments now, like the piano,” Vora offered. “But I have friends I like to spend time with. And of course, I have my son, so while that isn’t relaxing necessarily, and he doesn’t require constant attention, he does deserve my attention, so I try to make sure I give it where I can. “

What about you, Commander? What do you do…” She was going to say ‘for fun’ but realized that might not apply here. “To relax? When you’re not doing your climbing, of course.”

“I listen to classical music and audiobooks. Not the most exciting thing, but peaceful and increases the mind’s mental capabilities. I also enjoy dissecting a good mystery. From how the author presented it to the logical reasons for the clues, plot points and more. Some of them are a bit too obvious.” Avik explained, relieved they had found a common ground somewhere.

Interesting. Vora would not have guessed the commander to enjoy mysteries, but the whole logical breakdown of them made sense.

“I’ve also listened to books on subjects I’m lacking in, including the Earth classic Peace and War. Sadly, I don’t think I can properly explain the subject.” She added, noting how hard it would’ve been to find the best description and shorten to the easiest meaning.

Some things were just too challenging explaining, even for a Vulcan.

“I can give you an encyclopedic explanation of the themes and characters but that would be my limit on that one,” Zorell said. The stiffness in her shoulder was growing and she tried to roll it a bit but that only served to cause a flash of pain in her arm, igniting another wave of finger-tapping on her thigh. This sort of pain never failed to put her on edge. Intellectually she knew the causes were utterly different, ant yet… try telling that to her brain.

The XO watched Zorell roll her shoulder, the expression of pain and reaction told the prior Medical officer all she needed to. She inhaled. Once she cleansed her mind of the nagging issues within, she pulled back up onto her feet. Her hand lingered over the console before Avik turned to her current companion.

“Perhaps, we can try to communicate with Engineering this time?” Avik wanted Zorell’s opinion, primarily since it might distract her.

She was uncertain the odds were in their favor, but it had been proven they could be beaten from time to time.
