Abrams smiled. “Welcome aboard, ” she said warmly and gestured with her head for the woman to draw closer. Cassidy herself cut a tidy figure and her office was no different. She kept clutter to a minimum, bu aside from the padds on her desk, there were a few plants dotted about the small space, including a couple orchids under growlights on a floating wall shelf.

“We’ve had some transfers in, so you’re not the only new officer,” Cass said. “Why don’t you refresh me on you and what I should know,” she said, gesturing to the desk so they could get more comfortable than just standing there.

Clodagh stepped up, smiling, and took one of the offered chairs. “It’s all right. I wouldn’t expect you to know and remember all the personnel files.”

“Oh, it’s a small enough ship that I try,” Abrams said with a grin as she took her own seat, leaning back into the chair. “Just got sidelined a bit this morning.”

She sat down a bit more stiff and professionally than probably necessary. “Well, I am coming from the Blancett where I earned my JG rank and was third shift supervisor. Raises on earth. Fairly uneventful life, I guess. I’m proficient at energy weapons and hand to hand. I’m great with a knife, as well. Though I admit that’s in a fight, not in the kitchen. No good at cooking.” She laughed. “I think I chose space, sometimes, because without replicators I’d probably starve.”

Cass laughed. “I know a few people who would relate to that statement. Tell me more about your security training. What would you like to learn or improve on?” iN her mind Abrams was always trying to evolve the map of her department and how it was structured. She wanted everyone to be as well rounded as possible but also to do the things they actually enjoyed and were good at.
