“Most cryo equipment has security latches to ensure that nothing accidentally pops open,” the former scientist said, as she moved around the other side, looking for something obvious that might indicate where the releases were.

“Trenton, provide cover when we open this thing. Let’s not take any unnecessary risks,” Abrams said. Even if the occupant was still alive and still in stasis, there were any number of things that could happen and she was proceeding with an abundance of caution.

OOC: The pod is currently powered down. Ens. Fayth is attempting to attached an external power module. Once active, the pod may be able to provide some answers.

OOC: Fayth is waiting for Zarath to make sure she doesn’t blow the power module before she starts it.

“You guys checked to make sure whoever it is doesn’t have like, a virus or something, right?” the Captain asked awkwardly. He definitely seemed a little out of his depth with that question, a trait he did not usually show… well… ever, actually…

The Andorian stopped what he was doing and gave Dvorak a look that was two parts sarcasm and one part bemused. “We’ll set up a contagion field if everyone will kindly step back…” He looked at Fayth and nodded that he alone intended to be inside the field when the pod was opened. Punching in a command, the Doctor set up the field and then took up a connection to the power conduit for sickbay. There was a quiet chime as the field was generated around Zarath and the Pod. Then the Doctor made the connection, and input a command on the pod’s interface. With power connected the Pod should now be able to cycle and then open.

With power restored the stasis pod hummed back to life slowly, each component in a cascade of circuits. The screens both flickered on and resumed displaying their proper data. The larger screen at the bottom and smaller screen at the top. The larger screen displayed data consistent with what the Medical team had ascertained already. That the occupant was in a medically induced coma. It also displayed vitals that the pod was monitoring. Since the pod had powered off, the maintenance of these vitals had ceased. The pod was now attempting to restart. Heartbeat, brainwave patterns, blood pressure and other important vitals began to scroll across the panel.

The smaller screen near the view port displayed the functional info on the pod itself. As it started to resume it’s duties, several red lines started to appear and flash. It seemed the pod had suffered some damage to the internal power core. This could be the reason for the pod decreased power levels.

Despite being internally nervous at the idea of a contagion being inside that pod En. Fayth moved about the main part of sickbay confidently, after Zarath put up his containment field. She collected a various number of medical tools and medications, placing them on a movable table and as close to the containment area as possible. If need be the containment field could be expanded to include the table and allow Zarath to have access to the equipment without putting anyone else at risk. Once the pod was powered back up she had the computer link the information to the main display screen. Sharah made sure, politely, that everyone else had moved back in case Zarath needed to expand the field to access the equipment or to include her if he should need the assistance.

En. Fayth, Doctor

“Dammit.” Muttered the Andorian as he began trying to input a command to the pod. “The pod was damaged somehow and it’s power core seems to be unresponsive. The onboard sensors match my own scans though… I doubt there’s any dangerous or infectious particles in there.” Zarath commanded the pod to cycle and open, hoping the pod still had enough functionality to do that… Otherewise he’d have to take a plasma torch to it. “I don’t like how low his blood pressure has fallen, but otherwise I believe I can stabilize him if I can get him out of the damned thing.”

The pods controls responded to the Open command. The waking cycle would take some time, as the pod had a series of steps to bring the ensure the safety of the occupant during the warming of the body.

Sharah wondered if they could use the transporter to get the person out. She wasn’t familiar with the cyro process so she wasn’t sure would be safe to do that, but would it be safer than a plasma torch?

Once the opening cycle began, the larger screen began to show more activity as the pod ran through its series of steps. While the occupant was still in a coma, warming of the body had begun and thus more physical attributes would start to return to normal.

She glanced at the readings on the main board and began to read them off to Zarath as they registered on the screen.
En. Fayth, Doctor

Ensign Trenton stood at the ready, watching the details of the pod for any sign of hostility. She didn’t really understand enough of that was going on or what may be in the pod, but if anything were to go sideways, she was as ready as she could be to react. Her internal ‘conference’ made note of finer details of the pod, now that it was lit up, they tried to find more identifying markers in the monitoring program, weak points in the damaged pod that may make it easier to open in an emergency, potential traps on the pod to keep whatever was inside in, or invaders out. Unfortunately, due to a lack of experience, she didn’t have enough information on cryo pods to be able to identify model weaknesses. It was at this point that Trenton made slow and systematic circles around the pod to get other angles of vision while still staying safely out of the way of the experts that were working on it.
