(OOC: Apologies to all for stepping in here.)
Unsure what could be inside, Security decided to transport the derelict cyro-pod to the Auxiliary Sickbay on Deck Four.
OOC: Adding the GM’s post so that we are all together…At the Captain’s orders the transporter room successfully brought aboard the escape pod. The pod was extremely cold and had a steam like evaporation pouring off of it. Anyone attempting to gain access to whomever was inside would need protection for their hands or need to wait a bit as the temperature difference equalized.
Once the swirling blue light of Europa’s transport beam completed it’s cycle the pod sat silently.
The pod was extremely cold and had a steam like evaporation pouring off of it. Anyone attempting to gain access to whomever was inside would need protection for their hands or need to wait a bit as the temperature difference equalized.
It was of civilian make, a bare bones model designed to be mass produced and at a relatively low cost. Green stripes highlighted the dull chrome finish. There are two display panels. The largest at the foot of the pod, with a smaller second panel near the translucent ‘window’ on the lid. Both panels were dark, indicating the pods power grid was not operational.
There was also scuffs marks and abrasions engulfing the entire pod.
En Fayth had been in auxiliary sick bay cleaning and restocking when the transporter dropped the cyro-pod into the middle of the main medical bay. She raised a brow when security entered with it. =^=En Fayth to Dr. Zarath, Sir, I need you up on deck 4 in auxiliary sickbay. What appears to be a very old cyro-pod just showed up along with some security officers.=^=
=/\= Acknowledged, On my way./=/\= Came the Doctor’s reply
The Pod had obviously been through quite a journey. There was very little power to it. Fayth checked the equipment and found a back up power pack to attach to it. She’d never worked with anything like this though, and wasn’t sure if the power pack would be compatible though. She flipped open a medical tricorder and took some preliminary scans until Dr. Zarath arrived.
En. Fayth, Doctor
Fayth’s scans would indicate that the ‘occupant’ was a Terran male and that his vitals were very low. He showed all the signs of being in a medically induced coma.Abrams had stepped into the med bay and observed the situation for a moment before she approached cautiously. “Do we have an occupant?” Cassidy asked, her question hopefully implying that she was curious to know their status as well. So far nothing seemed like an immediate hazard and the most danger was to anyone inside.
Abrams, COS
Sharah was still scanning the pod and didn’t have any answers yet. She removed the probe from the tricorder and tried to get a stronger reading.
OOC: Do we have an occupant?
En Fayth, DoctorEnsign Trenton was not far behind Abrams, equipped as per normal for being on shift and responding to a potential security risk. Her neutral mask is well in place, but her Betazoid friend would be more aware of her emotional state. Even the usual internal thoughts reflected the state of her emotions, though there were a number of them that worked to keep up the neutral mask. Trenton closed her eyes briefly and started screaming at herself internally, she didn’t have time to deal with this now while there was work to be done. The young Ensign pulled out a PaDD and began taking notes on every detail she could notice from where she was standing by the door. The shape of the pod, any unusual markings, readings from displays, how much impact the presence of the pod had on the floor, the reactions of the two people already present to the pod and how the pod responds to their influence. Any and every detail that will keep her mind present and with the situation at hand.
- Ensign Ashlyn Trenton
Security, USS Europa
The unopened, powered down stasis pod appeared to imply no threat. The Andorian Doctor entered Sickbay at pace, antennae waving, his cane clicking against the deck plates as he moved. “Fayth, what do we have?” He barked, ignoring Cassidy and Ashlyn for the moment. For a man with a limp and a cane, he could move astonishingly quickly. As he waited for Fayth to bring him up to speed, he moved to his desk and equipped himself with his own scanner, which went to his pocket, and punched in a couple of commands to the computer terminal nearby, attempting to get the Europa’s internal sensors to give him information on the Pod as well.
Then, the Doctor moved closer to the pod and began to examine it. He used a sterile cloth to wipe away the condensation on the outside of the small viewport and looked inside the pod, also glancing at the small terminal interface near the window. He took the scanner from his pocket and tried to get readings from the interface. If the pod was operational, they could just open it… Otherwise, they’d have to power up its grid first.
-Zarath, CMO
Looking inside the ‘window’ Zarath would see the face of a Terran male. From the look of his unkempt, matted, dirty and clearly greying hair and beard, his age was in his late forties to early fifties. His eyes were closed, but the left one was swollen. There was considerable bruising around both ocular cavities and the man’s nose had been broken. His lips were cracked, bleeding, and discolored.
While the ships scanners would be able to give him more information, powering up the stasis pod would give more accurate answers.
“I was working in this area when this pod was transported in. No one has informed me of why or what it is. The power grid on this cyro-pod is almost dead so the interface units are powered down. I can’t get a reading on anything inside. I have a power unit standing by to recharge it. I’ve never worked with anything like this so I wanted to wait before I did anything.”
En Fayth, Doctor
Fayth doubled checked her scans. “Dr. Zarath, I’m showing a Terran male, approx mid 40s. The pod is loosing power fast, and it appears he’s been put into a coma. We’ll have to get power to the pod to maintain his stasis.” Fayth had a power pack and began looking at how to connect it. “Dr. Zarath, I’ve never done this. I’ve never worked with a cyro-pod.” She did NOT want to short circut the thing and kill whoever was inside.
Fayth glanced at Trenton, with a look that said, “so this is what real Star Fleet is like.”
