“Yeah, right,” he muttered under his breath.
She found his reaction curious though not surprising. It was good to know that this was something they need to touch on and work on.
Jerrin surveyed the assembled lasagna that was now cooking in the oven and chewed on the inside of his cheek. What did he want in this instance. It wasn’t like he was going to lash out at his mom or Johann, and he was the better cook between the him and his mom. Maybe it would be okay to share this with her. But anyone more would… what? Make him feel studied and under a microscope? He knew he was already, even if Nox was nice to hang about with.
“You can invite my mom and Johann,” he said at length, his tone completely neutral despite the slight nervousness he felt. Which was silly. How many times had he made dinner? Except that was mostly replicated.

She simply nodded and sent the invitation to both parties for 30 minutes from now then she turned to Jerrin. “So when I said it was up to you, like so many things are, why did you express the way you did?”
Nox, CNS
Jerrin looked down and shrugged slightly. “I guess where I come from, choice isn’t exactly the norm.” An understatement of the year if ever there was one, but Jerrin wasn’t even sure how to express or even think about this strange place of being glad to be off Tenra, and being fiercely upset at having to leave.

“Ah,” She said in understanding. Programmed response from cultural and societal norms could be difficult to get past while living in that space. Perhaps though, Sienna wondered, Jerrin living on the Europa was a good idea for his self growth. “I wonder, if you view the Europa in the same way, or are you open to the possibility that here, there is a lot of choice available to you?”
Nox, CNS
He snorted. “Well, it’s better than going from foster home to foster home, that’s for sure. And my mom, and the captain too, have let me try things here I probably would have never been able to do on Tenra.” Jerrin grimaced. There was just no easy way to explain any of this. “I didn’t ask to come here, but I’m not mad that I’m here.” Did that make any sense? He wasn’t sure.
