The injured officer just glared intently at the adolescent and said nothing for the moment.
For his part, Jerrin looked a bit remorseful as soon as he saw Cassidy. He watched her expressions and knew that yes he was definitely in trouble. “He started it…” he muttered, hoping it didn’t sound as pathetic to her as it did to him.
The officer just shook his head. “You know, I was only asking a question.”
“You were being a jerk,” Jerrin tossed back. “You kept implying that I wasn’t allowed to be in here because I was just some kid. You wouldn’t believe me and like I said you were being a ibav about it.”
“Well most minors aren’t allowed in here,” the officer said.
“I am! During the day this is one of the places I’m allowed to be. It’s not like there are a lot of them, after all,” Jerrin ranted.

Cassidy held her hands up. “Alright, I think I’ve got the gist of what happened.” She leaned to the side and eyed the other crew member whom she recognized as one of the med staff off-duty. “Is Ensign Grant going to be okay, Doc?”
“Yeah, looks that way. Need to get him to Sickbay for a scan, but the blood is clotting pretty quickly so I don’t think it’s anything a dermal regenerator can’t fix,” Doctor Moren replied.
Nodding, Cassidy eyed Jerrin. “Alright Jerrin, you better come with me. Grant, I’ll either come get a statement from you from Sickbay or send someone else to. But you aren’t to leave there till you’ve been cleared by medical and a statement has been taken. Understood?” she said sternly. There was a muttered response. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear you. Can we try that again?”
“Yes, I understand, even if dis whole ding is ridiculous,” Grant grumbled.
Her brows lifted as she considered the man. “Well, the assumption was since you were the adult in this exchange that you’d know when to walk away, but what do I know?” Abrams said sarcastically. For his part, Grant looked sufficiently chastised and so Cassidy began to escort Jerrin out of the lounge.
Jerrin’s gaze was down towards the deck as they moved into the corridor and he sighed. “Is there like any way we can not tell my mom about this?” he asked quietly.
“What do you think?” Cassidy asked in reply.
“Oh, come on Cass! I promise I won’t do it again!” he pleaded, meeting her gaze for a moment before nervously looking away.
“That’s Ensign Abrams to you,” she said sternly. “I’m on duty and you’re in trouble. I can’t be a friend right now Jerrin. Fighting is not acceptable on a Starfleet vessel, from anyone. And you know that.”
“She’s going to be so mad,” he grumbled.
“Yeah, probably.”
A few minutes later, they entered into the security office. Cassidy pointed to a chair on the guest side of the desk and then moved around to sit behind it. She tapped a few keys that would page Commander Range to the office. Then she just sat back in her seat and gazed at Jerrin. “What were you thinking, Jerrin? It’s not like you to pick a fight.”
“I didn’t start it!”
“You escalated it, though. And you threw the punch. There’s only one person in Sickbay, so don’t tell me it was even or whatever excuse you want to throw my way.”
Jerrin looked at her and could easily see the disappointment in her eyes. She might have well just have grabbed a knife and started stabbing him in the gut. He looked away.
“Why, Jerrin?”
He didn’t answer and continued to stare at the wall.

Range was in the office so it was not even a minute before the broad shouldered large framed officer’s salt pepper head poked out to see why he was summoned to the security offices. He took in Abrams, and Jerrin, raised aquestioning eyebrow as he stepped into the room completely. This was not the kids first visit. Range had been planning to teach the kid some discipline and how to fight but things kept piling up. Therewas always something in the way, often that thing had been whiskey but no one really knew that, he figured a few suspected.
“Well?” in that you want me to figure it out or are you gonna tell me kind of way.
