“I’m ready when you are, Commander,” Cassidy said, bracing her stance and lowering her centre of gravity a touch.

The tricirder beeped, the human had stopped about 40 meters away and was now moving quickly in a small area. The sensors could read that he was a Male. The tricorder registered that there was some elevated terrain near his position. Shouts could be heard loudly now. And they sounded angry and scared.

In the immediate area, now that the team was looking, there were many traps, large and small. Most of the larger traps were strategically placed around the perimeter of the camp, however, several, like the one Avik stepped in were in the camp.

“Incoming. Better go now while we,” Cassidy called up, trying to keep her voice down if possible.

Abrams, COS

Avik hit the vine and managed to severe it. She felt her body fall with gravity as she swung to the CoS, landing into her arm. The XO gritted at the impact. Even with the lower drop and less risk, the fall still knocked the wind out of her. It was fortunate that Abrams had been there because she didn’t land on her feet. Instead, it was her back.

Cassidy caught the woman easily, but the force did drive her downwards onto on knee, but she was able to help right Avik easily from there.

Collecting herself, the XO pulled upright. She dusted off the dirt before nodding in agreement. “Thank you and I agree. Abrams, you should lead the way and ensure there are no more traps. I don’t think we can handle another delay. After we get to the shuttle, we should consider following the man from earlier.”

“Agreed,” Abrams replied.

The tricorder beeped. The shouting had stopped, the human males life signs was starting the fluctuate.

Cassidy frowned. “We’re not going to avoid contact here. Our quarry’s life signs are erratic, Commander. I think using a great deal of caution, we should check that out before going to the shuttle. And we should try to check in with the Europa. We’re overdue to try.”

Abrams, COS

“Fair enough assessment. Let’s head that direction and I’ll update the Europa over our situation.” Avik stated as she pressed her comm badge. The moment Abrams moved, the XO wouldn’t be far behind. She didn’t want to get left behind here. At least both the CoS and CMO could pass for normal humans, even in their current attire. A high doubt crossed Avik’s mind that a Vulcan with green blood and pointed ears could so easily escape notice.

Avik waited until she heard an answer from the bridge before she would make a report and share their findings. Through at this point, she felt they had more questions than conclusive answers.

OOC: Not sure if this will get through to the ship, so I didn’t copy and paste. There were prior issues mentioned with interference from the planet and considering the thread with the bridge, I’ll let the GMT decide on this one.

=^= Stand by for the captain, Commander.=^= came the reply from the ship. The signal seemed a little distorted, but readable.

The sensor readings of the human indicated that he wasn’t to far now. The tricorder readings were still a little off from the radiation, but it showed him about 30 meters away now, moving slowly in a small area. His life signs were even more erratic then before.

Avik frowned as she fought not to sigh. She pressed her combage and informed the bridge of their situation. They couldn’t simply stand in place while they attracted more attention.

=^= Right now, we risk contact with the locals. We’re moving to avoid it.=^=

She looked to the CoS to lead the way, pausing to check if the CMO was around. It surprised her a bit he didn’t ask to ensure she hadn’t been injured during the fall and insisted on a check over. Even if she felt fine, muscles could’ve been pulled or other unknown factors.

Zeke was using his tricorder to examine a nearby shrub. “Is there any nearby sign of life, besides our speedy target?” he asked.

CMO

The human had slowed, the shouting heard earlier sounded rougher, almost like a wounded animal, almost desperate. The away team couldn’t see him, but he was close, with in 30 meters. The medical tricorder showed that he was injured now, although the extent of the injuries were not apparent at this time. He was moving slower now, very slowly moving towards the away team.

Avik’s tricorder gave off an alert. Her eyes narrowed and analyzed the data, her eyes widened subtly. She couldn’t wait for the CO to answer her earlier call. Her face turned to Abrams, her expression and expression calm.

“It doesn’t seem like it. I’m getting no readings aside from him and he’s slowed down, but we should be cautious. It seems he’s injured.” She mentioned as she looked to the other two.

“I think that he’s being chased,” Zeke suggested. “Perhaps by a local animal? Maybe we can go to him and see if we can aid him.”

OOC: Is the comm call going to be cross-posted to the bridge so they actually know we’re making contact?

Readying her weapon, Abrams moved ahead at a cautious but brisk pace. “Beats waiting for whatever to come to us,” she said. “We’re not going to figure this out waiting around, and we’ve got a perfectly good shuttle to escape on if need be.” She naturally moved to take point and moved along towards the possibly injured person.

Avik said nothing. Instead, she followed her two officers and carefully monitored her step. Falling into another trap wouldn’t do today. Her tricorder raised to scan for more lifeforms or unexpected complications.

The woods were think in that area, however, after moving about 15 or so meters, it started to clear a little. The Tricorder scans revealed nothing outside of the human, no other animals or other life forms.

They reached a clearing in the woods and they could see him now. He was a little more then 15 meters away, near a small clearing in the woods. He appeared to be in his late twenties to early thirties, he had shaggy brown hair and was tall, with broad shoulders. As the team saw him they could tell he was wounded. He was limping and he was holding a wound on his right side with his left hand. He didn’t notice the away team as they emerged from the woods.

Suddenly he turned around quickly and, in his right hand was a melee weapon. It looked like a Sai. He raised his weapon as if to block an attach. The away team could hear the faint sound of metal on metal. The human parried the invisible blow with difficulty. He then blocked another blow, this time around his chest and sent out what looked like a painful left side kick. He groaned in pain. As his foot landed he tried to spin, as if to block another blow, but he was to slow, something pierced his chest. The away team couldn’t see what had struck him, but they could see that the wound penetrated the center of his chest and came out the other side. Blood flowed from his wound. The Man said nothing as another blow hit him, this time into his ribs. His body jerked, he raised his weapon again, then collapsed on the ground.
