There were two NE’s laying on the ground. They were alive but looked burned, as if from an electrical shock. Along the impluse coolant line was an open panel. Sullivan would recognize it as the access panel to the coolant line sensor. A device, fading into and out of phase was a small silver box that looked like it was placed next to the sensor along the coolant line. There we trace nuclear vibrations coming from the device.

Kayla showed up with two nurses. “Can we approach them?” She asked cautiously.

Mattie nodded “Yes, just don’t touch anything around them.” She said =^=Captain, this thing is phasing in and out. =^= She used the tricorder to send a video of what the device looked like and what it was doing a silver box that was attached to the coolant line and was phasing in and out. She spoke almost too calmly =^=I need to get someone down here with a couple of field enhancers.=^= She said as she moved closer to the device to try and get a better reading off of it without touching it.

She glanced back “Get them out of here as soon as you can and have a medic standing by, on the off chance that this goes south. They need to be on the other side of that bulk head though.” Mattie ordered “Do not transport them from this area, take them out of here before you transport.” She also added.

The video was sent to the bridge with out issue. Getting closer to the device did nothing to improve the scan. Her tricorder was getting no readings from the device, save for some slight nuclear vibrations. As she stepped closer though, the device started to spark.

Mattie stepped back quickly “Okay. That’s not good.” She said =^=Captain, this device is giving off nuclear readings and if you step closer to it, it starts sending out sparks.=^= She said =^=Even getting closer I am not getting any clearer readings. Can you attempt to lock onto the device and transport it away from this area?=^=

The Red Alert alarm started blaring before the Captain’s voice came over the intercom.

=/\= Stand by, Sullivan. =/\=

=^=Standing by.=^= Matty said as the red alert klaxons sounded.

As she waited for the reply, a small engineering team lead by a NJG Ritezer arrived to help. “Commander, Engineering is secure. I have sent NC Jameson to the bridge. He will monitor the impluse readout from the bridge and help relay the status.” He reported to his senior officer. “His suggestion.” He added with a slight shrug. “How can we help?”

The Captain’s voice came back: =/\= Sullivan, we can’t lock on to the device with the transporter. Can you give us precise coordinates to try feeding manually into the transporter? =/\=

It was that or they’d have to try something else.

Matty growled =^=Give me a minute Captain.=^= She said as she fed the exact coordinates into the tricorder and sent the information to the bridge. She began looking at the device again. Natalie tried to get closer to the device without getting killed. She was scanning the device.

Getting closer didn’t reveal to much more. The device was sending out nuclear vibrations, which was making the device too unstable to transport alone. The device was shielded and fading in an out of phase, but with Matty’s keen eye, she could tell it was physically attached to the coolant sensor on the impulse coolant line. As she got closer, the device would phase more into existence, like a self defense response.

Mattie paused for a moment =^=Captain, change of plans. I need you to lock onto the coolant sensor. This device is too unstable, the nuclear vibrations are causing too much interferance. You get too close, it will phase in as a defense mechanism.=^= Mattie said =^=If we can move the sensor, we might be able to dislodge it. =^= She said as she started formulating another plan and closed the comms to the Bridge =^=Main Engineering …bring me the android down here with the remote control.=^= She said as she reassessed the information that she had just gotten on the tricorder.

The Captain’s acknowledgement came back: =/\= We’re giving it a try… =/\=

He didn’t sound very confident.
