“Shuttle has left,” Vora reported, tracking its descent towards the planet’s surface. She knew she wasn’t the only one who probably had tense feelings about the situation, but she was doing her best to keep them under wraps.

“Acknowledged,” the Captain said out of reflex. He was quietly checking long range sensor scan results on his command chair armrest display. He didn’t expect to really find anything but this would be the second most inconvenient moment for someone bad to show up.

There was nothing on the sensors that shouldn’t be there, so it seemed that all was quiet.

For her part, Vora was trying to keep from tapping her fingers on the edge of the console. “Guess it’s our turn to be waiting,” she commented idly. The away team couldn’t get there any faster and even if they had success on the surface, there was not guarantee they would be able to immediately communicate it to the ship.

“Yep,” Johann acknowledged simply.

He continued to watch the sensors over her shoulder. He didn’t have much else to do at the moment.

“They should be touching down any minute now,” he observed after several minutes.

“Yes. Just confirmed that the shuttle has indeed landed. Radiation is still making communications difficult and unless we can ease things on our end, they will probably have a tough time reporting in at all,” Vora said, her brain working on possible options to cut through the thick distortion.

“The Fermi and the Brahe are holding position. They both say they have auxiliary vessels at the ready to help with evacuation if needed,” Vora reported.
