“Radiation poisoning is pretty much a guarantee Doc.” Marsh spun slightly in his chair to direct the comment backwards but never actually made eye contact. They were going at a pretty fast clip for a landing in two minutes and Marsh didn’t want to take his eyes of the window or his sensors for any protracted period of time.
He thought for a moment, and then added, “Which, of course, you should expect me to.” He also used his medical tricorder to pull up that specific radation type. Then he cross checked the symptoms of both short and long term exposure, with the medicine that he had carefully packed for the mission.

Cassidy tried again. =/\=This is Shuttle Bowman from the USS Europa calling any Starfleet crew on the surface. Please respond.=/\=
The static was less and at first there was no response, but then she started to hear something, if indistinct. =/\=This is Shuttle Bowman. We didn’t catch that, please repeat.=/\= Her fingers tapped anxiously on the edge of the console.
=/\=This is Lieu… Mien… people… …surv…=/\=
Cassidy shook her head. =/\=We’re still not catching much of that, but standby, we’re going to land. We’ve got you. Bowman out.=/\= she said firmly, doing her best to keep her emotions in check.
“It doesn’t matter how clear things are for us, but we’re probably not going to be able to get a signal up to the Europa without a lot of amplifying. So I’ll just set us down and we’ll at least get the lay of the situation,” Abrams commented. She knew she was on the edge of starting to ramble and she needed to focus on the task at hand and not her personal stake in it.
As the shuttle banked, people came more into focus and she set the shuttle down not to far from the encampment. The moment the ship touched ground, she immediately switched off the engines and was moving towards the back to finish gearing up. “Full gear. Let’s not take any more risks than necessary,” she said, slipping her helmet over and ensuring the seal was solid.

The minutes move slowly as he used the signal to improve his fix on the best landing site. “Over there,” he nodded to the best clearing nearest to the transmission.
He spun the shuttle nicely turning its aft towards the signal direction. It would be easier and quicker to load this way. There was one thing for certain, that this was not the only trip they would need to take.

Zeke was getting his own Eva suit on. He cursed as he seemed to have a bit of trouble with fastening the cumbersome helmet. “Infernal thing,” he remarked. “They’re impossible no matter what the era of space travel is.”

“You think we really need those?” Marsh looked at the doctor. “I don’t think we are going to be on the ground that long and if the survivors of the Tien Min have been here for weeks should we be have to handle an hour.”

Cassidy stepped over nad helped Zeke adjust his helmet.
“I didn’t realize that i had the helmet facing the wrong way,” Zeke remarked. “I’m just glad that I’m not blind.”“I don’t intend to be leaving right away,” Cassidy said with determination. “Rather not take any unnecessary risks. Besides, never know when it’ll come in handy at the moment.” And with that, she opened the hatch and stepped out into the not-so-forgiving environment.
Marsh shrugged unhappily. He didn’t much like environmental suits, nor did he like the idea that Cassidy wanted to stay on the deck as long as it seemed.
The sun beat down brightly and reflected off the pale compact dirt. She lifted a gloved hand to shield her eyes and squinted as the face shield shifted in tint to block out the harsh light. There, that was better. That alone was good reason to wear the suit.
She could see figures approaching. There was a pair of them, definitely in at least a partial uniform. “We’ve got company. Let’s go be gracious and say hi,’ she said, trying to not hurry over to the Starfleet crewmembers .
It took only a minute for both parties to close the distance. The pair of officers, a Human woman and Human male , in red and blue uniforms respectively, approached, looking beyond exhausted. Cassidy was surprised they were even on their feet. “You folk rang for a pickup?” she said cheerily, doing her best to keep things light, but also even, despite her excitement. They found the survivors!
“For a second I was worried we were having a group hallucination,” the man said, before offering his hand to Cassidy. “Lieutenant Commander Charles Owens, ship’s counsellor. And this is our science officer Lieutenant Bethany Odrix.”
“Cassidy Abrams, Chief of Security, USS Europa.” She gestured to her companions. “And this is Lieutenant Steven Marsh, Chief o Science, and our med chief, Lieutenant Zeke Drake.”
“Well, I’d say welcome, but not sure there is much to welcome you to,” Odrix said, gazing at them with ebony eyes. “Nonetheless, we’re extraordinarily glad to see just about anyone right now.”

Zeke flipped open his medical tricorder. He took some readings on the two. He was particularly scanning for radiation levels, type of radiation exposure, and any symptoms and side effects.

Marsh raised an eyebrow, “Once I report that we have a clear landing zone, we can start the shuttle runs.” He paused, “I can take the most at risk medically right now.” He wondered if the pleasantries implied there no critically injuries. He wondered where was the Captain of the Tien Men.. “also how many survivors do you have and what happened to your ship.”
Marsh
“And the medical status of your people,” Zeke added. “We can also bring more shuttles down.”
