Jerrin was instantly amused and his maroon eyes lit up. “Man, I’d have paid to see that.”

Finishing up with the onion, he set it to the side. “He’s not a bad person, Hass. A little… over-zealous for my liking, which makes him seems bit shady, but, I dunno, I’ve met a lot of not so great people and he does mean well. But I can understand why my mom hasn’t exactly gone out of her way to get to know him. I just find it weird, though. I mean, there’s this whole family there and she’s basically acted like they don’t exist. It’s weird.”

Sienna contemplated that as she chopped fine chunks of the Basil. “I suppose it would be weird, if someone had had a normal life with a normal loving family and normal support.” She tilted her head to one side and paused, biting her lip before continuing. “I don’t think anything about your mother’s history could be considered normal. She was traumatized and has worked to get through and past it to lead a happy and healthy life. I am betting that she isn’t really ready to work on her relationships with her family. Besides, I think she has had her hands full adjusting to being a parent of an almost fully grown young man. In that context, its probably not a shock that she has not been oriented on her extra family. And maybe it is weird, but it’s not a bad thing.”

“I suppose,” Jerrin said uncertainly.

“Do you want to spend more time with them?”

Having finished his initial task, he set down the knife to the side. “I don’t know. I guess it would be interesting to know more about them. I really don’t know anything about any family, aside from Vora and what she’s told me about my father. Other than that, details are a little… sparse,” he said, gritting his jaw slightly in irritation, but trying to seem casual.
