“Wow, that’s… random. Are you very familiar with many of the events from that time?” she asked curiously, snuggling into him a bit. It was rare that she stayed at his place, since because of Jerrin, she normally had to leave after awhile. But as her son got a little bit older and more responsible, they had come to an understanding about some things and he seemed to be comfortable enough with Johann that she could spend the odd night here and there away from her own quarters. After all, she was also just a comm call away.

“Yes, actually,” he said. “I always liked history. And that period was a very decisive one in human history. Also in my family’s history. Several of my ancestors ended up, um… migrating… as a result of how that whole thing turned out. If it played out differently I probably wouldn’t have even been born.” A part of him wondered whether he should actually talk about all of that stuff now or not, but the thought didn’t linger as his mind kept working.

“Well then, I guess I can say I’m just grateful that things worked out the way they did,” Vora said with a grin, running a hand down his arm. Indeed, a lot of the craziness of her life had become rather less-crazy since he had entered her life.

“But none of that explains what a cocktail waitress was doing there.”

Vora just laughed. “Nobody said dreams were ever rational.” She leaned in a bit and smirked. “I hope you tipped her well.”
