“Yeah, I meant the leave you haven’t taken yet. I’m thinking we’ll need more than two days. I probably have two months put away or more.” He actually didn’t know what the limit on banked leave days was now, if there was one.

“I think we should travel somewhere for a vacation. Ideally some nice planet where they don’t have subspace communication.”

Vora grinned widely. “Now that is certainly an idea worth exploring. I am definitely open to discussing what that might look like. Obviously, we’d have to be mindful that Jerrin, while old enough to take care of himself for the most part, might object. On the other hand, he actually might just love the idea of being able to roam the ship without his mother looking over his shoulder,” she said with a laugh. “And I mean, where else could a young person be safer than on a starship with a bunch of people who won’t let him get into too much trouble?” She knew people like Cass and Clint would keep an eye on him. Oh gods, Cass. Maybe that would be asking too much of her, but then again, he’d probably actually listen to her.

“We could take him also,” Johann offered. “I mean I didn’t have some place like Risa in mind.” He didn’t actually have anywhere in mind until two minutes ago. But, everyone was going to have to come to terms with everyone else, if the plan was going to work.

“What do you see his objection actually being?”

“I don’t know. Maybe objection is too strong of a word. I just find us more at odds lately and he seems to like finding fault with almost everything I do. So, if there is something to object, he’ll find it,” Vora said with a touch of weariness. “I’m okay taking him with us. If he’d even want to go, that is.”

Johann seemed to ponder this for a moment. “I predict that by the time we actually go, what to do will be obvious. So we can blow up that bridge when we get to it.”

A brief bemusement seemed to pass over his face as he considered that particular turn of phrase…

She gave a half grin. “So long as we don’t run straight into it, right?”

Vora exhaled slowly. “I want to work on planning this sooner rather than later. You know how things will go- the moment we start to think about it, something will come up and we’ll delay it, or Command will have a new mission, or whatever. I say we set some dates for R&R and figure out where to go later.” Now that they were actively talking about it, she found herself rather excited about it.

“You’re right. Let’s do it right now.“

Johann abruptly turned around, and started walking deeper into Black Rock instead of where the Europa was docked. His pace increased.

“I don’t want any dumb computer communication crap to screw this up. We’ll do it right at the office right now.”
