Rather than go back out to the bridge, Johann instead walked over to his desk. He thought he heard a notification that he had new mail, and now was as good a time as any to read it.

As Cass left, she sighed softly and went back to her reading.

A second after seeing what it was, he let out a particularly loud sigh. Guess I really screwed the pooch with that one, he thought. It was bad enough that he had made that slip up, but he didn’t realize at the time how bad it must have been for Nox. And he still didn’t, not really. Better patch this up before it festers…

He pressed one of the buttons on the desk. =/\= Nox, could you come in here please. =/\=

– Johann Dvorak, CO

She heard his request and closed her eyes for a moment to collect herself. She was a little heart broken. She stood and dutifully walked over to his office, entering as the door opened. She guessed he was likely wanting to talk to her about the Command Course she signed up for. Sienna looked up at him, trying as much as she could to keep her features schooled. “SIr?”

“Have a seat.”

He looked at her for a moment, and then at his computer screen, and then back at her again.

Dutifully, she took a seat in the chair before his desk. She didn’t sit back or really even look comfortable. Her hands came to clasp in her lap, fingers already twirling around the wedding band on her left hand. Simple as it was, it shone and was obviously well cared for.

Wasn’t…? he thought briefly. No-I mean… yet, but that’s not the point right now…

“That was really bad, right?”

– Johann Dvorak, CO

She gave him a small understanding smile though it didn’t quite reach her dark eyes. “You mean treating me as though I were her? I am sure no one noticed.” Again she tried for a smile and found it a little easier. She hated to see him uneasy… in so far as Johann ever really exhibited that emotion. She could tell, like she could with her husband. This was new territory for him and she didn’t blame him as much as it hurt to be erased as a person by the man who looked and acted very much like the man she loved most.

Nox, CNS

“You noticed,” he said simply. “And I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

Her dark eyes lowered to her hands and she nodded. “I … apology accepted sir. I know it was not intentional.” She didn’t want him to see the tears that burned her eyes. If she kept looking down for a moment, they could be blinked away and he would be none the wiser.

He gave the display on his desk a swirl, such that she could read the screen. The contents of it were the application for for command training that she had just submitted. “Is that what this is about?”

– Johann Dvorak, CO

At the sound of his display moving, she looked up to see the screen and her request. She took a deep breath and let it out, sinking a bit further back into the chair to let herself relax some. It was an intentional movement. If she was relaxed, the person she was speaking with would be relaxed, or at least more so than they were before. “Yes sir. I thought that it was wise to put in for it for several reasons. I am often on the bridge in case we run into a situation where diplomacy and counsel are needed.”

“Having that training will also enable me to advise you better, understanding the thought process of a leader.” She was lying through her teeth there since she was well aware already of his leadership style. “As well as Star Fleet regulations concerning certain types of contact. And of course, if we were in such a situation where you did not have time to remember which Siennadye I was and just needed me to do the job, we would not have to try and deal with such awkward situations as we did today during a time that we were better off spending on far more important things. Do you not agree?”

Nox, CNS
