<snip>“That will simply be a matter of having the internal sensors run a sweep of the ship looking for any life form that’s not wearing a comm badge,” Zeke said. “Arachnids, ophidians. The sensors are sensitive enough to pick up anything that they’re designed to detect.”
CMO
As the group was discussing the situation, the comm system keyed up.
=^=Bridge to Captain Dvorak, Commander Bryan Guillhouf from Starbase 51 is requesting to speak to you.=^= the NE at the conn stated.
-GMT
“I’m going to take the call here,” the Captain said to the officers around the room, “but everything I’ve just told you in this briefing is classified by Rear Admiral McGuinness. The Admiral and I have a special communications protocol established. This Commander is not authorized to know anything we just talked about. Watch what you say.”
He pressed a button on the table. =/\= Pipe the Commander down here, Ensign. =/\=
Once the connection was established, he said: =/\= This is Captain Dvorak. =/\=

Avik nodded at Zeke’s sound logic. She felt her self-criticism edged into her core. Even with her excuse of being busy, her pride claimed she should’ve known it and not relied on others to inform her. However, time wasn’t her ally in such endeavors. Often she dealt with the ship’s priorities for her station which left her rather busy.
Not wanting to be weighed down by petty details, her eyes shifted to Dorvak and gave a subtle nod. Again, her way of understanding. Her eyes returned to the rest in the meeting and straightened her posture into the familiar Vulcan stiffness.

The view screen showed a middle aged, well built human male wearing a yellow commanders uniform. He looked to be in his middle to late 40’s, brown hair and eyes with a face that looked harden by his duty.
=^=Captain, This is Commander Guillhouf, Star base 51 security. Several hours after you left, we had a security issue on the station. One of the refugees was found murdered in this quarters.” He explained, getting straight to the point. “Several witnesess have informed us that members of your crew may have spoken to him prior to your departure.=^=
-GMT
=/\= We’re sorry to hear that, Commander, =/\= the Captain said honestly enough, though he felt a bit of caution at the word “witnesses.”
=/\= I believe several members of my crew did mention speaking to refugees, but I would have to ask them about that to be certain. Which refugee was this? =/\=

=^=He was known as Archie, he was an archnid humanoid who liked to wear blue jeans and Hawaiian shirts. Captain, no members of your crew are suspected, but as they were the last known people to speak with him. I would like them to provide a report to me on any conversation they may have had and if there were any incidents that went unreported.=^=

She had always had a good poker face, and Abrams managed to engage it as the man spoke. This, despite the wrenching in her stomach. Oh, Archie. She felt a profound sadness that was a bit unexpected given she had hardly known him. But he had lost everything and fled to what he assumed would be safety. It was beyond tragic and it made her sad, as well as a touch angry.
Abrams, COS
On the other hand, Zeke had never really had a good poker face. He put his hands over his face to hide his dismay. Why hadn’t he taken Archie more seriously?
CMO
=/\= Certainly, Commander. I’ll poll the crew, have any who spoke to Archie write up statements, and transmit the report to your office. Is there any question in particular you’d like them to answer, or any members of the crew you’d especially like to hear from? =/\=
Just as long as we don’t have to turn the ship around, the Captain thought.
