“I actually haven’t had a chance to eat anything yet. I was distracted by the conversation with this being who was here, named Archie. Giant spider looking person,” she said neutrally. “He’s waiting for his asylum petition to be decided on and had a difficult moment. I feel for him, she said as she reached for a menu. Abrams waved it slightly. “But, I really could use a bite to eat. Apparently the burgers are good.”

Sienna looked back towards the entrance as she pulled a menu of her own out for perusal. She had seen the giant spider looking person, as Cassidy had described, and couldn’t say that it had not been rather scary looking. She turned back to her companion and smiled. “OH? I do love a good burger.”
“Well, that’s the word apparently. Won’t know until we try,” Cass said with a slight smirk.
“Asylum requests are tricky things. Lots of paperwork and if you don’t know the legalese, it can be even harder. I hope he feels better. Having a friendly ear probably helped.” She looked at the menu and picked a burger as well as a cup of wine.

“I hope so. It seems a difficult situation and it was hard to know how best to go about the conversation because, well first contact for me and all. Having never encountered one of his species, I had no idea if I would do or say anything offensive. All I know is that I’m damned glad I am not a diplomat.”

Siennadye laughed and nodded. “Diplomacy is a fine art and Counselors must apply it regularly. To be honest, it was something I was less skilled in than I would have liked. Granted, Doctors do work on their bedside manner a lot in school, but it’s not the same when the people you are speaking to are healthy and their lives are rarely in danger. However, thats amusing to me that you are glad you are not a diplomat. Security definitely dips their toes into it more often than Science.”

Abrams gave a lopsided grin. “There’s a difference between mediation and diplomacy. Sure, I will spend most of my security career talking to people and trying to calm down situations, but that’s a far cry from sitting around a table with high level people from other places and trying to negotiate terms for trade or something that will effect entire planets.”
Cass ordered one of the burgers that apparently had two types of cheese and some sort of spicy condiment, along with a small chocolate milkshake. Looking around, she was trying to see if someone was there, but not so far. “You haven’t seen Lieutenant Marsh yet on base, have you?” she asked Nox casually, though there was a sense of anticipation that filled her at the thought of the person she had come to love deeply. They didn’t have plans, but she was hoping their leave shifts would cross at least for a little bit. Security often had to take smaller shifts to handle all the comings and goings and keep the ship’s entry point safe, but she fully intended to make the most of her time off.
