“He was of the opinion that Jerrin could benefit from having more… structure… based upon some… similar experiences from his own past. I agree, so… we were kind of thinking that we might be able to put him to work.”

“Okay…”

“He needs things to do beyond school. He needs to feel useful here. And I think he needs to know that other people think he’s useful here also. So, let’s give him a job. Maybe a kind of work study between departments or something. But the idea is, we’d give him actual work to do, and expect him to do it. Kind of how we do with all the other adults here, given that this isn’t a passenger ship. Maybe apply some adult discipline along the way.”

Vora sat back in her seat, contemplating the idea and how it might work.

“We wouldn’t do this without your consent, of course. And if you have a better idea, I’m all ears.”

“I… think it’s a good idea,” Vora said, actually beginning to smile. “He’s really smart, Johann. And my suspicion of him having some sort of eidetic memory like I do seems to be holding up. He’s probably far enough in his neural development to have some baseline tests done too.” She nodded, mostly to herself before once again looking at Dvorak. “Yeah, I think it’s a worthwhile idea to at least try.”

“Actually, does he know where it is?” he wondered aloud.
