“Is that an offer?” Cassidy said with a tired smile. “Except the phaser- that would just be pushing it. Can you spare a bit of time? I’ll even accept a good cup of coffee. I just need to focus on anything other than grid patterns and expected ping frequencies. I’m seeing them in my dreams now. When I sleep that is.”

Ensign Abrams, Sciences

“Of course.” He smiled. “Why wouldn’t it be. ” He and Abrams hadn’t a lot of recreation time, especially after all the missing ship and parents hub bub. He leaned over and lifted her by her elbow. “Food first, alcohol second, drugs last.” He raised his eyebrows twice…

Cassidy laughed and shook her head. “How about some food and coffee first?” she said with a wink as they moved to the turbolift. “You pick the place.” Truth be told, she was quite happy with the idea of having a bite to eat and just curling up with him. If she dozed briefly, well that would be a nice perk, but so would anything else they got up to.

“Why don’t you head to my quarters… I’ll pick up something for the dining room and bring it back.” He wandered ahead of her for a moment. “Is there something in particular you want to eat?” He questioned even after all this time he wasn’t certain about what foods she might like to eat. He paused as he thought to himself. Perhaps he should know her a little better.

OOC: I’m going to split this thread and if the bridge action moves far enough ahead, we can always be in two places at once if needed.

She had shared some of parents interesting mix of cuisine with him on occasion and it was usually what she wanted when she was upset. Today was no exception but she wanted something she hadn’t had in awhile. “Boxty with roast beef and gravy. Trust me, it’s amazing. Good comfort food.”

Gazing at the data, Cass sighed and rose to her feet, giving Steven a grin as they moved to the turbolift. “You know, when I said I was seeing stuff in my dreams? It was like this weird pseudo reality of real data inserted into crazy scenarios. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the TAM poofs into existence and communicates with our computer in some made up language.”

Ensign Abrams, Security

OOC: Continuing this (finally), with permission. Anyone who can reasonably join in at anytime are welcome to.
IC:
A couple hours later, Vora was sitting on the Bridge pouring over the data for Cassidy and Steven. When she had seen her friend earlier she was tempted to pull rank and order Cass to bed, but she also knew the woman well enough to know it wouldn’t do any good. So Vora had been relieved to know she finally taken a break.

A frown graced the pale yellow face of the Tenraith before her maroon eyes widened and she uttered a sudden expletive in her native tongue, which might draw some raised eyebrows when the UT translated it for her fellow crewmates on the bridge.

The expletive certainly got the Captain’s attention, and resulted in a swivel towards the Science station.

Rising swiftly, the scientist moved to another station and began furiously entering commands to analyze some data points that just came in. “Wow… okay.” She looked over her shoulder at Johann. “I think I found something.”

He got up and walked over to where she was working, looking over her shoulder at whatever was on her screen. “What is it?”

As the data from the edge of their current search grid flowed, it began to change into smaller pieces that the computer was then analyzing. It was clear that it was detecting something. She pointed to one section and froze the screen. “There,” she said softly. “It’s a ping. The sensors have pinged something, but I’m just waiting for the computer to confirm what it was. It’s big enough to get past the filter Cass and I used to ignore normal space debris and aim for anything that would indicate a starship.”

A few tense moments later, the screen displayed a set of numbers that looked unmistakably like a subspace signature. They had been specifically including that as an option. “Computer, identify the starship subspace signature displayed.”

“The subspace signature belongs to the USS Tian An Men, Registry code-“

“End Inquiry, we got it.” She looked wide -eyed at Johann. “We found them,” she whispered. “According to the positioning, the ping originates one and half lightyears from here.” They were practically on top of it, and she knew that that meant that there was no more than nominal power on the vessel, otherwise they would have detected the power usage ages ago. It also wasn’t the most positive piece of information, but it was a direction.
