Vora moved through the ship feeling an unease settle into her body as moved through the corridors towards the dwelling space she shared with her son. Why wouldn’t he just tell me what the problem was? she wondered. But musing about her son’s summons was pointless as she was about to find out in a matter of moments. The door to their quarters slid upon at her approach and she found her son sitting on the couch with his arms folded over his legs and his head forward as he stared at the floor.

“Jerrin?” she said softly.

He didn’t look up at first but it was clear he had heard her. “I screwed up,” he said quietly, though the anger in his tone was very clear to her.

Vora moved over to the sofa and sat down next to him, making sure to give him some space. “Okay. Tell me about it.” His head snapped up and the darkness in Jerrin’s maroon eyes was so familiar to her that Vora had to suppress a shudder and control her breath.

“I was in the lounge, studying, like I do a lot of times and some jerk ensign was bugging me about being there. He didn’t believe I was allowed and wouldn’t take my word for it. Things got heated and… I punched him in the nose.” He looked away from his mother as her expression shifted to one of dismay.

“Oh Jerrin,” she sighed. “What happened then?”

“Security came. Cass, actually. And there was a doc in the lounge who tended to the guy and they went to Sickbay. Cass took me to the security office and then the Chief showed up. It was then a discussion about whether I go to the brig and who gets involved and what to do with me.” His voice got even quieter. “It never occurred to me that you could get into trouble and like lose your job or something because of something I did. I… I’m really sorry.”

Vora stayed quiet for a moment and breathed in and out slowly, keeping herself as calm as she could. “What did they decide?”

“I’m… not exactly sure. But Commander Range said he had something in mind that he needed to get approval for or something. It didn’t seem like it would actually be a problem for you. It was suggested though that I tell you before they did.”

She nodded. “Okay. Well, they were right and I appreciate it.” Vora sighed. “But Jerrin. What happened? Why did you let him get to you? Why didn’t you jsut walk away?”

“I don’t know! Afterwards, of course, it seemed like the smart thing to do. But he just made me so… angry.”

“I know,” she told her son softly. “Alright, well, regardless of what the commander believes is a good next step for you, I have my own for us. I’m going to make us an appointment with the counsellor.”

“The counsellor? Not again! Do we have to?”

“You tell me,” she said sternly. “I wasn’t the one who lost me temper yet again and almost ended up in the brig. I get the anger Jerrin. I’ve had a lot of it myself over the years, but you’ve got to find a better way to deal with it or we all lose. So you’re going with me whether you like it or not.”

He knew better to argue and just got to his feet. “Fine,” he muttered. “I’m going to my room now, unless you object.”

She gestured to the door. “Go ahead. I’m sure you have school work that could require your attention and if you don’t I’ll find some.”

Jerrin didn’t say anything more and a moment later Vora was alone in their living space. She sighed heavily and leaned back on the sofa. It was one thing for him to direct his anger at her (even if she didn’t always understand why), but it was another for him to inflict it on the crew. All she knew was that they needed to get a handle on it as soon as possible before something worse happens. She tapped her combadge. =/\=Zorell to Counsellor Nox. Do you have room for an appointment today?=/\=

~Vora & Jerrin

Siennadye looked up from her computer display at the comm click and Vora’s voice coming through seeming perhaps… resigned? Frowning, she wondered what Zorell could have issue with when Commander Range’s message popped up on her screen about Jerrin’s incident. Due to this interruption, it took her a long moment before she could respond to the woman. =/\=OH. Yes Lt. Zorell, I have time in about two hours to receive you and I am guessing your son?=/\=
