“I’ve enjoyed my study of the DNA of various reptilian species, both similarities and variations, and from there extrapolating likely appearances and biology of potiential undiscovered reptilian species,” Taban said. “I tend to spend most of my time in one lab or another. If I’m actually off work, I enjoy reading various literature from across the Federation, plus sometimes Klingon or Romulan books.”

“And what are your bad at? Your weaknesses,” Marsh leaned back in his seat and looked at the officer across from him. People always wanted to share their strengths but tended to be a little hesitant in where they needed work.

Taban pressed his lips together at the corner of his mouth. “I overinvest and overload myself with things, then burn out and have a hard time getting it all done. I’ve been working on it since the academy,” he admitted, his fingers tracing little circles over each other. ” He sat, waiting tensely to see how his superior responded.

“You are ENTP then,” Marsh commented before explaining. ” ENTPs are people that can take things to excess because they enjoy the deep dive into their passions. You don’t do anything halfway but this drive to excellence can lead to anxiety or burnout. Its not a bad trait in an officer but you do tend to work harder to achieve a good work-life balance. How do you handle the burnout?”

“Mostly just dialing back what I can if I hit burnout or pushing through it until I can rest,” Taban said, the slight dark circles under his eyes seemingly confirming his statement. “There’s not much else I’m generally able to do. Do you have any suggestions, sir?”

OOC: Sorry my posts aren’t very full at the moment, dealing with some burnout of my own.

“It’s tough,” Marsh confided. “On a ship you are stuck in your quarters or the office most of the time so people tend to throw themselves into the job. Been there plenty of times. My suggestion is find a hobby and make a routine just like a duty schedule. It will make you break the cycle of work and the monotony of ship life.”

“Alright,” Taban said, nodding. “Do you have any orders for me right now? Is there anyone else in the department I should check in with?” he asked, sitting up somewhat in his chair.

“No not right now.. Have you met Vora? She is another officer in the department. Make yourself at home and if you need anything my door is always open,” Marsh replied.

“I haven’t yet,” Taban said, staring to rise, “But I’m sure I’ll meet her over the next few days. If there isn’t anything else, sir, I think I’m going to go get settled into my new quarters.”
