A small silence etched between them as they placed on their gear, securing them in place. Avik was the first to break it again as she began to reveal her personal opinions.

“It has been… difficult. Especially after a mission with Officer Zorell.”

Lucius paused, then studied Avik for a moment. He tightened the last of his gear before he replied, farther questioning her.

“What happened? It sounds bad.”

“During an investigation of a distress signal, we found a ship. It turned it was taken over by hostiles. Before capture, Zorell lost composure and it…” Avik trailed off, letting Lucius piece together the reason for her discomfort.

“I see. Let’s get this exercise done before we talk some more. It might be therpetic for you,” he suggested in a kindness, then ordered the computer to begin.

Avik didn’t reply, but simply nodded. She was thankfully not to dwell on the past, the incident drew up uneased feelings and caused her to struggle to push them away. As the holodeck finished up, it signaled for them to begin. They both anchored themselves into a single point then took off into their separate ways.

Avik started off the right. Her foot gently kicked off the gravelly surface causing dust to fly into the air, scattered into the low gravity atmosphere. It all reminded her Earth’s moon’s cratered scenery. Her pale skin become drowned in the bluish tint of light that surrounded them. She scraped the landscape for any red, possibly hinting toward the flag’s location.

Nothing showed up at first.

Meanwhile her sharp ears caught Lucius’ more clumsy efforts behind her. Her eyes turned over her shoulder, spotting his feet hopped wide across the terrain and landed hard to cover large distances. The rope went taunt when he got to the end of it causing him to search that area first then fall backwards.
