Jerrin shifted slightly uncomfortably as his thoughts turned to his own father, who had an apparent penchant of violence and subverting the law. He seemed to listen to Range’s comments but didn’t comment other than to say, “the drink is actually pretty nice.”

Range nodded, “My daughters loved it” Range shrugged, “There are many things that life brings you, and they are all choices. You are not him, nor are you her, you are you. We just need to figure that part out kid.” Range settled back, “I got an idea, you want a job?”

Range CoS

Jerrin wasn’t dense- he knew the COS was referring to his parents. He wasn’t them. Nope, definitely not. But then again it was hard to know how much he was or wasn’t like his father because someone wouldn’t talk about him. And he had agreed to back off if she told him she couldn’t. So here they were.

After a long moment, Jerrin nodded. “Yeah, sure. As long as it doesn’t interfere with my studies, I bet my mom wouldn’t object.”

Range laughed, “Its not your mom I have to convinve,” Range stated as he finished his drink. “Go on keep your nose clean, give me a day or two to make arrangements, and umm this will not interfere with your studies persay.” Range was an accreditted academy instructor, a Marine DI, and had an idea, likely a good bad idea.

The door opened to admit Cassidy again. “The situation seems contained, Sir,” she reported and eyed Jerrin, wondering what would happen from here. In truth, she felt for him. He didn’t exactly have any peers and the closest were going to be newly graduated ensigns who were still quite a bit older in age and maturity. Well, definitely the first. And she knew Vora had her hands full with the boy but they seemed to be working things out most of the time.
