As they entered the banquet hall, there was a magnificent feast set out in front of them of delicacies from around the galaxy. There was a sense of luxury and extravagance about the room with grand chandeliers and plush velvet furniture. The waiting staff ushered the team to their table and began to fill their glasses with wine.

Mother Hen

James whistled at the sight of the grand hall “Well this sure is Pedro” He exclaimed looking around as he was led to the table “You know maybe I did leave Vulcan at the right time, Four years of hot air and hidden ego’s but the wait was well worth it”

CSO

As the team began filling their plates, Ki’Jalla proudly took centre stage with a smile. “Jadan & T’Kal…at the festival of Lotan!” he announced as Aaliyah, having changed into a stunning purple dress, strutted onto the stage and took position in front of a microphone as a small band assembled behind her, ready for a performance. As the band burst into action, the young Orion began to sing with a beautiful sultry voice.

‘I’m in a little bit of trouble, and I’m in real deep. From the beginning…’ she began. Just as she was getting into the swing, the band promptly stopped as the lights went out and the computer began chiming an alarm. =/\= Power failure in grid 472, emergency shutdown activated. =/\= as the loud announcement rang out through the room, emergency bulkheads slid firmly shut on all exits. Aaliyah gave a panicked look to Justin who bit his lip nervously and shrugged his shoulders as he joined her on the stage.

“Apologies ladies and gentleman, we seem to have had a slight technical fault…!” he hollered over the sound of the computer. A couple of baffled looking engineers shuffled over to the console and began to examine it, muttering to each other as they shook their heads in confusion. As they began prodding things, Justin made his way over to Michaels. “Um…I think our boys could use some help sir?” he asked hopefully as the hapless engineers scratched their heads.

Mother Hen

Michael stood up. “Um, I’m the ship’s Chief Engineer. If I can help at all…” he turned to the engineers. “Do you have tricorders, scanners, anything?”

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson

The two engineers looked at each other blankly for a moment and muttered something quietly to each other before turning back to Jameson and sheepishly shaking their heads. “It’s our night off sir…we didn’t think we’d need any equipment…” one of them replied.

James calmly took a sip from his drink “Well I guess somebody didn’t like her singing” He joked “I have some X-ray specs in my bag Leftenant if you need ‘em” He called out with a big grin on his face.

CSO

“Jameson, you and I have Engineering experience, let’s see what we can un-break, shall we?” Aaron said to Michael, as he stood up as well.

Aaron Michaels, XO

After a few moments, the emergency generators kicked in and gave the room at least a dull light to work from. Justin paced around the back of the stage in a flap as Aaliyah sighed and picked up a drink, somewhat disgruntled at the rude interruption.

Mother Hen

Michael nodded at the XO and stepped over to the console that was previously being examined. “Power failure in grid 472. Where exactly is the actual fault?” he tapped at the console, hoping emergency power had restored computer function. Shore leave…

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson, CE

The computer bleeped in annoyance but reluctantly displayed the fault. There appeared to be a cascade failure in the computer system although the cause was not evident. There were sporadic failures across the resort, as well as the lighting failure in the banquet hall, the outdoor lagoon had turned fluorescent green, the water temperature in the hot tubs had tripled in the last few minutes and was still rising. The communications system was sending a distress signal which appeared to be a drunken rendition of Buck singing ’Show me the way to go home…’

As Jameson studied the system, the more astute members of the team would hear a faint hissing coming from the ventilation system.

Mother Hen

After a few minutes, Justin burst out laughing as he started hugging everyone he could find. Aaliyah made her way back over to Michaels and promptly sat on his lap, nibbling his ear.

As Jameson began working on the console, a young exotic dancer approached him from behind and wrapped her arms around his waist. “That looks really boring…why don’t you come and have some fun with me instead?” She asked seductively.

Falz and Grey found themselves pinned in by a trio of waitresses, one waving a bottle of champagne at Falz and beckoning him to follow, another running her fingers through Grey’s hair.

The whole team suddenly felt in a much better mood, almost ecstatic, clearly something was affecting the whole room as the panic that had been gripping the room turned into laughter and pleasurable thoughts.

Mother Hen

Falz’s grinned as his eyes spied the champagne, and much like a carrot with the donkey on the stick… or was it the donkey with the carrot?? He followed the waitress holding it without a second thought. The combination of the alcohol he had been consuming and the change in atmosphere, forcing him to forget he was an officer and should probably find out what was going on first.

Aaron tried to keep his head, but Aaliyah was quite alluring. “You want to get away to somewhere…private?”

Aaron Michaels, XO

As Aaliyah ran her hand up Aaron’s thigh she shook her head. “Privacy is for wimps…” she whispered in his ear before kissing him passionately. On the stage, Ki’Jalla suddenly broke out into an energetic tap dance, despite his advancing years.

As more of the mysterious gas seeped into the room, the air took on a mild pink hue as the merriment continued. Justin staggered over to the team and pointed at the pink swirl above their heads. Between giggles he asked, “…should we…be worried…about that?”

Mother Hen

James cocked his head to the side as he looked at the pink swirl, nay cloud above them. Somewhere in the back of his mind, the rational scientist yelled at him to grab his scanner and find out what was going on, things don’t get this relaxed without aid. Another part of his less developed mind reminded him that head massages were entirely much too pleasant to interrupt with such square thinking. He closed his eyes “Probably” He took another sip from his drink “If I had to guess we’re going to get mugged in a few, perhaps even fed to a giant Cthulu monster in the basement” He said without any worry “Commander Snoggington, should I scan the flying elephant” his left hand lazily pointed to the ceiling.

CSO

Bump

Aaron blinked at the sudden, passionate kiss from Aaliyah, before giving in to the flurry of hormones and returning it. The Starfleet training in the back of his mind yelled at him that he had to stay focused, but his hormones had a different idea.

Aaron Michaels, XO

James turned his head slightly towards the direction of the First officer “I guess not” He shrugged lazily and closed his eyes again. Why couldn’t every mission be like this. Drinks, massages and women paying great amounts of attention to you.

CSO

Michael rubbed his eyes. His head was… foggy. Something in the back of his mind told him he should be repairing the controls, instead he turned around and agreed with the dancer’s earlier statement. “I’m here on shore leave, not for work.”

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson, CE

The young dancer grinned as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “My thoughts exactly…” she whispered and then kissed him passionately.

As the room turned into something akin to Sodom & Gomorrah, the console Jameson had been working on began sparking violently, sending a shower of sparks over anyone unlucky enough to be close to it.

Mother Hen

The sound of the sparks startled James, his left hand went up to his ear immediately as if protecting it from the distant sound. “Damn, Jameson what the devil is going on” He called a little louder than necessary, his sensitive hearing greatly disturbing his enjoyment.

CSO

Justin cried out as a shower of sparks hit him in the face. He began running circles around the outside of the room, switching from screeching in pain to manically giggling every few seconds. After several laps he finally ran up to James babbling incoherently about not being able to see, wanting another drink and seeing if anyone wanted a dip in the pool.

Mother Hen

OOC: Edits

“Nothing we can’t handle.” Michael said to Grey. He looked at the dancer. “Right?” He thought for a moment. “Sparks are generally considered bad. Does your computer have voice control?” He didn’t wait for an answer. =Oh computer? Emergency shut down power supply to this console.= “Now. I’m not sure what’s making everyone act this way. And… I’m not sure I want to stop.” The Starfleet Officer in the back of his mind barked at him to straighten his uniform and get to work. But he really didn’t feel like doing that.

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson, CE

James looked first at Jameson then at Justin “No thank you I don’t like to get my hair wet unless I have to” He said shaking his head politely “However I am curious” He put his hand in his bag and rummaged around. After a moment he yelped in pain and raised his hand holding a tricorder… and a mousetrap that was stuck on his hand. He dropped the scanner in his lap and carefully removed the trap “I thought I didn’t set this one up yet” He growled as he rubbed his pained fingers “ALrighty, Mr Corder, let’s see what you see” He said opening the device and setting it on a wide set scan, at least that’s what he thought he was doing. He was mostly certain that’s what he was doing.

CSO

Scans quickly came back indicating that the pretty pink substance swirling through the room was a combination of Impedrezene and Hupyrian Beetle Snuff, both narcotic substances designed to stimulate euphoria and lower inhibitions. The concentration was steadily rising and would soon be approaching toxic levels.

Aaron looked at the sparks, smirking. “Now, now, gentlemen. If you wanted a disco ball, I could’ve requested one.”

Aaron Michaels, XO

The sudden lack of liquid from the wine bottle Falz had been chugging indicated he had finished another one. Was it his third? Or second? Or fourth? He wasn’t really sure. An annoying niggling thought in the back of his mind whispered that he probably shouldn’t been this intoxicated, that it was going to be harder to stay sober, but he ignored it. Sobriety was boring. This was much more enjoyable. The waitress on his lap must have sensed that he had finished his drink as she removed the bottle she’d been holding down his throat. Already she had another bottle of champagne opened and ready at his lips for him to chug back, but he pushed her arm away. “M’dear, we must not haste ourselves. Like this wine this day is made to have its flavour savoured.” He slurred, pushing her off his lap, a little more roughly than he intended and snared the bottle from her grasp.

He stood up, swaying slightly and looked around for the rest of the officers. Hegush grinned when he saw that they were under a shower of brilliant lights, where the pink smoke was thickest. That must be where the parties at he thought to himself as he approached, “Friends!” he called, stumbled, and regained his footing. “What a splended display you have put on for our gregarious hosts. I have never seen such beauty as these shooting stars. But then none love the light like a blind man, or beauty like an ugly one!” He rambled merrily and took a generous swig from the bottle in his hands.

Lt. (j.g.) Hegush Falz
COO

Justin wandered up, still rubbing his sore eyes. “Is anyone else starting to feel funny…?” he asked as he promptly passed out on the floor in front of the team.

Mother Hen

“Oh you have got to be” James said in a decidedly annoyed voice. He finally recognized the feeling of the Beetle snuff. Annoyed that he didn’t realize it earlier. “We’re being drugged” He said trying to shake himself out of his narcotic influenced stupor. He knew that in his bag he had nothing that could counter the effect of the drugs, or at least he thought he knew. Right now knowing stuff was hard. It was his luck that he’d spent a considerable amount of time experimenting with various narcotics throughout his life so he knew how to at least shake himself temporarily out of a stupor but that would probably not be enough. He stood up and almost immediately fell down, he hadn’t noticed that his legs no longer responded to his commands “Drugs are almost at toxic levels, can someone shut of the pink mist” He shouted as he tried to get his legs to obey him.

cSO

=Oh Computer? It’s me again.= Michael said. He would later hope there were no records of this. =Ventilate the air from this room into the great outdoors.= he looked again at the dancer on his lap and said “I hate all these interruptions.”

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson, CE

The computer bleeped in annoyance but after a few seconds dutifully obeyed and began venting the room.

“Heh, my blood levels are always at toxic,” Falz muttered to himself, “What’s the big deal? I haven’t died yet…” he laughed to himself and took another swig of his wine. Some vague little voice in the back of his head was telling him that he should be more concerned but he felt too jouvial to care. He swayed and stumbled forward. His head felt thick and foggy beneath the euphoria, and the niggley voice kept bothering him. Perhaps he should try to do something if it meant that voice would let him go back to having fun.

Taking another gulp of his wine, he stumbled over towards a consol and pulled the panel covering it off. If he just fiddled around, perhaps it would be enough to… to… do something. He shook his head, unsure just what he was meant to be doing, but the little voice said it was important.

Lt. (j.g.) Hegush
COO

“Heeeey.” Michael said. “What if we needed that?” He ‘thought’ for a moment. “Not our planet, not our problem.”

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson, CE

As the gas slowly dispersed from the room, the team’s thoughts began to clear.

Mother Hen

As his thoughts turned more clear James returned to his bag. After rummaging for a bit he grabbed a small vial filled with dark blue liquid. He opened it and took a little sip and coughed a great deal. Then shook his head and slapped his cheeks repeatedly. “Well that was bracing, can someone explain what the devil just happened?” He asked the room.

CSO

“The sweet breath of Beetle Stuff and Imbedprezen…” Falz slurred, his mind still a little dull from the alcohol he’d consumed. He glanced down at the bottle in his hand. “I suppose I should probably stop drinking this,” he said, then, before anyone could stop him, drank the remains of the wine in the bottle before tossing it to the side.

Lt. (j.g.) Hegush
COO

James leaned back in his seat and exhaled “Now I like to party as much as the next guy but this was absurd” He coughed a little again, whatever it was he drank he seemed to be slightly more sober than a few moments ago “Tomorrow is not going to be a fun day, do you realise how much hangovers suck at my age?”

CSO

“Don’t stop drinking,” Falz joked, “You can’t get a hangover if you’re still drunk,”

“Your age? They suck at all ages, Lieutenant.” Aaron said, suddenly more clear headed. “What is going on and why do I smell like beer?”

Aaron Michaels, XO

Michael looked at the dancer on his lap. “Um. Hello. I don’t think anyone introduced us.”

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson, CE

James laughed at the Commander’s comment “Very true sir” He answered “Well first we had some lovely company then we had some drinks and then we were drugged and almost killed” He slid his tricorder to the Commander to show him the result of the scan he took “Not a bad mixture to have fun with but entirely too strong, except maybe if you don’t need oxygen or higher brain functions.”

CSO

Aaron chuckled. “Well then. That explains why I remember nothing. It doesn’t explain why I smell like I bathed in beer. Speaking of beer, I want another one.”

Aaron Michaels, XO

“There’s a nice lady who can get you some,” Falz added helpfully, pointing vaguly in the direction of the table, “Would you mind fetching me more wine while you’re at it? I could use something to clear my head up. Do the ventalation systems always try to poison it’s honoured guests with narcotics? Not that I’m complaining, but he might,” the Bajoran pointed at the still form of Justin, “He doesn’t look too good.”

Lt. (j.g.) Hegush, COO

“As much as I enjoy a good time gentlemen” JAmes stood up and fell back into his seat immediately, the narcotic was still in his system even though he’d managed to clear his mind somewhat “Damn” He swore as he decided to get comfortable “I think a few liters of water would do us some good, I’d rather find out if someone was intentionally trying to kill us before anything else” He of course didn’t listen to his own warnings as he took another sip of his drink, something he was certain wasn’t water.

CSO

Aaron grabbed another beer, popping it open. “Water? I’m getting the good stuff finally and you want me to drink water? What are you, a doctor?”

Aaron Michaels, XO

James gave the commander an odd expression, looked at his hand and raised a few fingers as if he was counting and having some difficulty with “Well yes, seven times over by now although I probably should have grabbed a few more doctorates in the past five years” He said quite seriously.

CSO

Michael was feeling his head clear up and it was distinctly unpleasant. “So we were drugged. But does anyone know exactly what happened?”

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson, CE

The COO rubbed his temple, just thinking about the past hour made his head hurt. It was all just a blur of alcohol, pretty pink mist and shooting stars for him. Then he grinned a bright idea striking him. “Lets ask the only person not affected by the drugs,” he said brightly, “The culprit themselves.” =^= Computer what just happened? =^= Hegush asked, his words still slurring slightly.

Lt. (j.g) Hegush Falz, COO

The computer paused for a moment before replying in the usual monotone voice. =^= Please specify parameters. No unusual activity detected. =^=

“If it starts singing Daisy Daisy then I’m out of here” He said in a half-serious half-joking tone as he waited for the computer’s response. He thought on the wording of the COO, did he indeed consider the Computer a person?

CSO

“Sure,” the Bajoran agreed, not entirely sure if he was familiar with the terran song or not, but there couldn’t be anything more worse than a computer trying to sing terran music. He shuddered, unless it was singing Klingon opera maybe.

Lt. (j.g.) Hegush Falz, COO

Justin staggered back over to the group still holding the burn on his face gingerly. “Um…this really hurts…did someone hit me?” He whimpered.

As the gas was finally dispersed a small door at the end of the hallway slid open.
