It had taken the two a few minutes to travel along the winding corridors of the Constellation but they had finally found themselves in the Machine Shop. “Yelchin if you isolate console J-32 over in the left-hand corner and wire the machine in we can begin a series of soft scans to determine the devices composition and possible origin” the captain ordered in a polite yet hesitant manner the captains priority was to determine what the purpose of this device was on board and how it may indeed affect the ship.

“Right sir!” Said an enthusiastic Yelchin.

Within a few moments, Cross entered the machine shop and approached the Captain and the Engineer where they stood looking at a small mechanical device on one of the table tops. Listening to the Captain’s orders to the Engineer Cross peered curiously at the device. He had no mechanical training other then the normal training a Starfleet officer was given to operate a ship’s computer so was clueless though curious.
“What’s that, Captain?” He asked.

Cross COS

“This is alien device.” Yelchin said as he finished up his wiring. “It was connected bad in holodeck and there was a zapping of Ensign. I think is override device, but is hard to tell because computer has no record of device or who makes it.”

-NE Yelchin

“Hmm,”Cross said as he considered the problem. Pulling out his padd he typed in a query to Starfleet Security about such nefarious devices being recorded in use. It was a nice database that kept Security officers up to date on criminal technical enterprises.

Cross COS

OOC: Sorry, missed this first time round!

IC: There was no record of the specific device in the Starfleet Security database. There had been various attempts to circumnavigate security measures with a variety of devices but nothing that came close to what they had in front of them.

“An unknown device indeed,” the captain said aloud pacing around the console where the device was located. “If you wouldn’t mind Cross please let me know if you get any hits on the security device” he went on to say. “It would be interesting to know where the device came from and what brought it on board,” he concluded by saying as he moved towards a large table like console in the centre of the room. =^= Computer isolate and display all systems connected to holodeck 2 and run a diagnostic=^= the captain went on to command the computer intrigued to what the computers diagnostic would show.

The computer bleeped rudely at the Captain and displayed the screen saver of the gerbil riding a bicycle again.

Mother Hen

The Captain remained silent for several seconds startled by the consoles swift change to a picture of a small mammal riding a bicycle. “Well this has certainly developed into an interesting investigation” spoke the commanding officer in a heightened and intrigued manner.

“Ah! Is bicycle gerbil again! Delightful, da?” =Computer is bicycle gerbil connected to holodeck system or central computer terminal?=

-NE Yelchin

“Wonderful another file for us to isolate and purge from the system I wonder what file were going to be introduced to next maybe a kitten dancing to disco fever. ” the captain went onto say before turning to the ship’s chief of security. “Chief can you pull the transporter logs so we can cover all bases and make sure that no one has beamed on or off around the time the device was integrated to the ship’s systems,” he concluded by saying in an authoritative manner.

The transporter logs showed that the last people to beam aboard the ship, other than the newest crew members were Oshi & Ryalla, a few weeks ago. There were no unauthorised transports.

The computer bleeped again and brought up a picture of a hedgehog in a miniature shopping trolley wearing a top hat.

Mother Hen

“Ah! Will it never stop, eh?” =^= Computer; are any other foreign devices installed? =^= “What is that, hedgehog? Ay…”

Cross shook his head as he completed his check of the Security database,”Sorry, Captain nothing like it in the database. “Is there anyway we can run a diagnostic on the device separate from the computer?” He asked looking at Yelchin.

Cross COS

“Possibly it is a rather intriguing concept in regard to recent events,” the captain said in an intrigued manner turning from the COS to the NE. “Yelchin any ideas,” he said contemplating the COS idea.

“Perhaps if we connect tricorder, it can scan for faults independent of computer.” Withdrawing one from his engineering toolkit, he started working.

“Let’s do it. I guess its worth a try,” he said remaining silent as he observed Yelchin as he began the procedure. “Maybe we should take a trip to the primary and secondary computer cores and run diagnostics from there” he went onto say moving over to one of the vacant terminals to study the ships specs.

“I think it would be advisable to keep a closed system so we don’t infect anymore of our computer core with this, sir.” Cross said quickly.

Cross COS

“That is why we use tricorder. If it is virus, when I make inquiry, virus go to tricorder, not computer terminal. Smart, da?”

-NE Yelchin

“Sure thing, Go for it” the captain replied remaining silent.

Cross watched curiously to see what the results were.

As Yelchin began to work, a notification popped up on his tricorder. ‘Are you enjoying my game?’ it read simply.

Mother Hen

“Someone has a damnable sense of humor.” Cross muttered.”Captain, I feel like someone is toying with us. What do they want?”

Cross COS

“I agree Mr Cross, has anyone come across something like this in the past.” he enquired.

“Not as far as I have been to find in the database.” Cross muttered obviously put out by this trick.

“I would like to know rules of game before I play. Maybe is just me.”

“How intriguing” spoke Chris in a manner that made him sound some what similar to that of a Vulcan. “I do love a good game though much like our young Mr Yelchin I would like to know the rules of this game as the message is calling it” he went on to say baffled by the concept of all of this been some individuals way of taunting people for there own enjoyment.
