Michael paced outside the Captain’s door, getting strange looks from passers by. Just procedure. Go to sickbay, get a psych evaluation, meet with the appropriate commanding officer. He pressed the door chime. Christ. I’m not ready. Now he knows I’m here. There was a pause. Crap. Look like an officer. Michael posed, like someone on a ‘Join Starfleet Today!’ brochure.

“Enter” came the stern response from a tired and hungry starfleet officer whom was seated behind his desk. “Who could this be this close to dinner time.” he inquired speaking over the sound of his stomach growling like a klingon targ.

Michael came in, looking around the office. “Um, sir. I’m Michael Jameson. I was… uh, transferred to be your new Chief.” There was a pause. “Chief Engineer that is.”
