IC: Ryalla’s lip quivered as she realised she had been caught out. She started to sob quietly as she shook her head. “Please don’t lock me up…” she whimpered. “He begged me to do it, he said it wasn’t proper training unless we took the safeties off. My brother showed me how to reprogram the computer…” she said sheepishly. She watched as Harry tried to save her friend’s life and put her hand to her mouth as she realised what she’d done. “My father’s going to kill me…” she whispered to herself.

Cross’ heart strings pulled at the girl’s obvious distress but this was a lesson that had almost cost Du’Ralle his life. She needed to understand that the safeties were on the holodeck for a reason.”I understand that, Ryalla and I am not going to lock you up but you need to realize how serious this is. Du’Ralle’s life is in jeopardy because you two made the choice to circumvent the holodeck safeties. They are there to prevent exactly this situation. Now, I am going to inform your father, not to punish you, but because you need him right now. You should not be alone at this time. What is your father’s name?” He asked and while he waited he decided he needed to contact Engineering and let them know what had happened and to get an engineer to look at the hack the two teenagers had used and to fix it so they could not do so again. Two teens should have been able to get passed the rank requirement to undo safeties.

Ryalla sniffed and nodded, she knew her father would go crazy but there was no way she could keep this from him. She had never expected that the hack would work and had just thought they had got lucky. She wiped a tear from her eye and sniffed again. “My father’s name is Oshi....” she said quietly. “He’s a Lt in the science department…” she added in a barely audible whisper.

“Just Oshi?” Cross asked sympathetically.

Ryalla sniffed and wiped her nose on her sleeve in a very unladylike fashion. “Just Oshi…um, I mean Lt Ossian but everyone calls him Oshi…” Ryalla gulped as she looked back at the pool of blood left by her friend. “I swear I didn’t mean for him to get hurt…” she added, tears gently rolling down her cheeks.

Cross smiled as he reached out and patted her arm,”I know you didn’t, Ryalla. I hope you will remember this and realize that we have safeties and rules on the ship for a reason. It is for your own safety.” Tapping his combadge he called her father.

Emily heard the call for an engineer and arrived at the holosuite “What’s going on Cross?” She asked as she took out her tricorder and began scanning the holoprogram.
