She laid still, quiet, her breath remaining even, smooth, and deep as if asleep. But her mind was awake and processing everything. She could hear breathing and feel the rhythm and impact of familiar foot falls. Despite the flooring being one she had never heard them stomp against. The hollow thud of carpet covered tritainium bulkheads. What was Ch’otok doing on a Federation starship? Because this was not the sound of Klingon combat boots against the metal grating of the Opaka. This was the sound of standard issue Fleet leather and rubber uniform boots. The sound of steps paused and then approached her. She expected to hear the creak of leather and slither of metal as he knelt in his Klingon armor but it was simply the whisper of cotton/polyester cloth. A warm callused familiar hand rested gently against her side, but still she did not allow herself to ‘wake up.’ There was a sigh, she knew that sigh, he was worried. And then the whisper of cotton and air as he stood and then the swish and clunk as the doors opened and then closed and his foot steps receding.
She waited several long moments to ensure he was not returning before her eyes snapped open. She didn’t move right away, just incase someone else was in the room. She tried to reach to ‘feel’ the room with her telepathy, only to find that it didn’t work....she was drugged! She tested the sounds and smells in the room and was certain she was alone after long moments. She looked around and did not recognize the room. Oh she knew what it was but she had never been here before. It was another illusion, or maybe…no not an illusion. The illusions were always her memories, but altered slightly. This was…a trap. She moved silently around the room, moving first to the desk where a hypo sat with a note on a PaDD to take it at 0930 hours. It was her telepathic inhibitor. Not a chance. How stupid did they think she was?
“Computer, do you recognize my voice print?” =/\=VOICE PRINT OF CASSANDRA KLRIN OF HOUSE KE’DASS RECOGNIZED.=/\= The name sent tremors of terror racing down her spine and she breathed it away. They had managed to get far too much information from her in order to create that name. “What is my position on board?” =/\=YOU ARE A CIVILIAN PASSANGER ON BOARD. CLEARED AS PART OF THE CREW DUE TO MARRIAGE TO CAPTAIN CH’OTOK KLRIN OF HOUSE KE’DASS=/\= “And what do I do all day?” The computer trilled, =/\=YOU SPEND 65% OF YOUR DAY WITH CPT CH’OTOK AND 35% OF YOUR DAY WITH LT CMDR BRENNA ATODED.=/\= She paused, Brenna? How did they know about Brenna? Ice cold water started at the crown of her head and spread out. She had made major mistakes. She had to get off this ship, or building or whatever it was. She had to get a message out and she was sure they would be monitoring whatever she did. “Computer show me a layout of the ship please.” She spent several long minutes studying, this was a mythology class ship, it was huge, and lots of places to ‘get lost.’
She spent the remaining time till 0930 going through everything in the quarters. At 0930 she picked up the hypo, and for anyone watching it would appear she’d given it to herself, she even discharged it, but it harmlessly dispersed into her hair. She took an ice cold shower, to disburse some of her body heat, braided her hair back, and pulled out her old tactical uniform. It was lined in blue rather than in eng yellow, but it would have to do. She walked back into the main room, her eyes falling on the wall of weapons. Oh that was a mistake. She walked over to the replicator and began tapping a request, but it really was just a ruse. She was hacking the room’s systems and turning off the video feeds. Then a bottle of red wine appeared. She set it on the desk and set the civilian combadge next to it. “If it’s really you Ch’otok, I know you’ll understand. I’ll come back for you.”
She walked over, took the mek’leth and slipped it into special straps on the inside of the back of her jacket and then she moved to the far wall, popped the panel off and grinned. A look that froze the blood in those who knew her and encouraged them to flee. She slipped into the crawl space, replaced the panel and disappeared.
