Lt. Sharvi took the dermal re-generator and applied it to the ensign’s wound. After a few minutes it was sealed up. “There you go, you are all better now. Not the greatest patient I’ve had in here, but I like your spirit to getting back to work. As a Klingon, when I was in security, I hated being here as a patient.” He told her. “But, before you leave, I noticed you saw how Nakuto was acting on the shuttle on the way back as well. I was planning on attempting to talk to her, and see if my services would help.” he told her, not knowing about the conversation she had with LT. Stone.
LT Sharvi, CMOKristi frowned. “I haven’t known her well enough to know what ‘normal’ is. But I can tell you she appeared to be withdrawn and almost in shock most of the trip after the storm began. It’s why I piloted the shuttle. I don’t know, but I think, now that me doing that is what upset her. I don’t know.” She glanced at Mike. “I swear. If that’s what upset her, I didn’t know. The storm was coming. I panicked and was already doing preflights so I just took us out of there when someone in the back yelled ‘Go’.” She wasn’t sure, but it would trouble her to no end if she was the reason Kara was upset.
Kristi
Eng“Well you did the right thing. The shuttle and everyone on board are safely back on the Viking.” Mike said. Though just how safe they actually were was another matter. Many simply disappeared or got unusual injuries some even died. Teleportation itself was like playing a Russian roulette.
“If Nakuto’s ego was hurt in the process, that’s the least of our worries. She’ll get over it, so don’t take it too personal.”
Lt. Mike Stone, CE
Kristi waited till the Doc cleared her and joined Mike as they headed where he needed her help. “Maybe I can find Nakuto later and apologize. I just don’t want the angst between us if we’re gonna be together on this ship for years.” She laughed and followed Mike. “Anything else going on right now I need to know about? And where are we going, anyway?” She laughed realizing she had no clue what had happened while she was gone.
Kristi
EngMike nodded and said thanks to Lt. Sharvi as well. As they walked with Kristi he replied “Well you said you wanted to take a shower, so I thought I’d escort you to your quarters. After that if you feel like it, you can join us in the hangar room. We’re low on shuttles as it is. So we need to check Naglfar that it doesn’t have any ‘leaks’. “
He was still holding onto her toolbox, so he added. ” Um, I can carry your tools there already or leave them in engineering....”Lt. Mike Stone, CE
Realizing the tool box she reached out for it, her cheeks blushing. “Sorry, I can take it. And yes, I need a shower. I can meet you in the hanger if you want. Or you’re welcome to come to my quarters and get a drink. I won’t be a moment.” She smiled and nodded towards her quarters.

“I’d… love to wait for you.” Mike expressed. His intention was just to escort her to her room, not to actually wait in it while she takes a shower. He was glad he was American and not Japanese, or he was sure he would get nose bleed just from the thought of her, showering in the next room…
A bit reluctant he let go of the toolbox he carried when Kristi took it. Didn’t he offer to carry it for her? He remembered boys carrying school bags for their crushes in school.
But knowing Kristi, that she loves to do everything on her own, he didn’t express any objection.“I’ve never been in your quarters before… do you have it to yourself?” While it was normal for senior crew to have the biggest quarters to themselves, others weren’t that fortunate. But on Viking… a lot of rooms were vacant. Most of those who had a roommate only had it because they were a couple or didn’t like to be alone in a room.
Lt. Mike Stone, CE
She smiled and headed for her room. “Yes, it’s mine alone. Apparently my originally assigned roommate was one of those who ‘disappeared’ a year ago. Her things are in storage in one of the usable cargo bays. It’s not as lavish as Department Head rooms, but it serves it’s purpose.” She moved into the room and set the toolbox by the bed. The top bunk was lifted to afford Kristi the extra headroom. And there were two desks, with chairs. She had spread herself across both desks, one seemed less cluttered, more personal. The other was covered in broken tools, PaDDs, and actual flim sheet of various and assorted systems on the ship that weren’t classified.
Seeing him pause at the door, she laughed. “I promise no one will bite you, Mike. Come on in. I won’t be long.” She grabbed up a spare uniform from the back of one of the chairs and moved to the bathroom as she saw him still in the doorway. “It’s all right.” She smiled softly with a nod. “I promise.”
She then disappeared into the refresher and closed the panel between them. He could either come in or he would have to step back out of the field that kept the corridor door open.
Kristi
EngMike entered and took a sat behind the desk with spare parts. Quite a few things, he wasn’t even sure what they were, but he did recognize some at least.
“Nice room you have here.” He said, though he wasn’t sure if she even heard him. While he did take a look around, he was still careful not to touch or move anything.
He noticed there was still one of her bras on the other chair and simply said to himself “Nice indeed.” rather quietly. * Simple design, but oh so important job.* He thought and grinned.
To occupy his mind with something else, he instead looked at the table of spare parts and try to at least figure out where they belonged.
Stone, CE
Upon closer inspection, Stone would recognize the parts. They were the last three generations of warp core flush transfer pieces. If he looked, she seemed to be trying to suss out what the next step in its evolution would be. The PaDDs had specs going back to the first warp core, as well as drawings, both technical and doodle style, of overlapping generations.
Less than 5 minutes later, Kristi came out in a fresh uniform, barefooted, drying her hair with a towel. “Give me a minute more and I’m set to go.” She winced slightly as the towel rubbed her sore spot. She moved to set the towel on the back of the chair, covering up the lingerie piece sticking out, and grabbed her hairbrush from the coffee table where it was from her shower the night before. “So what do you think? Figured it out yet?” She moved towards the desk smiling and nodding to the hodgepodge of pieces and schematics before him.
Kristi
Eng“This part is connected to that one, and both fit into the thingy over there…” He pointed and half joked. Although he wasn’t really trained as an engineer, there were still some things he knew and identified. Mostly because when he just started, he spent a lot of time studying diagrams and schematics of their ship. “Are you trying to improve our current warp core? Also if you haven’t noticed, you forgot your shoes.” He teased slightly.
Mike Stone, CE
“Not forgotten, just more comfortable till we leave.” She moved over to stand beside him on the desk. “And in answer to your query, yes. We need ways to vent faster, stabilize quicker and make it so ‘blow up’ or ‘eject’ aren’t always the only two options available in a crisis.” She moved a couple pieces around and showed him. “If I can get these to match up and work as a single unit,” she pointed to three obvious gaps where generations of change had left them unconnectable, “then I think I can make the core vent itself at a predescribed limit. This will save us the trouble of programming and or manually doing it after the point of ‘oh no it’s happening!’.” She laughed.
“I know it can do a lot now, but if I can add to that in some way, even a little, it will help. Just something to do.” She kissed his cheek and stood up, heading for the back room once more. This time she took the towel and the bra disappeared with it. “Be right back… with shoes this time.” She laughed.
Kristi
EngMike waited for her to finally get ready. While he did think about her words, he thought more about a different thing he’d like to ‘eject’.
“Keep it together, man.” He said and stood up. He escorted her to make sure she was fine, and now that he was here, only thought that it was a mistake for him to come here. While she was getting ready to leave… he didn’t want to. Instead he’d loved nothing more then to barricade the door and never leave. He could actually feel his heart racing more and more.
At long last, he looked out of her window. The stars raced past. Indeed like she said, they were going in the opposite direction. That managed to occupy his mind until Kristi returned.
“Ready to leave?” He managed to say, standing still. He didn’t even dare to breath too deeply, or his heart might start racing again.
Lt. Mike Stone, CE
She came out and glanced where he had been in the chair. Turning to see him at the window, she paused. They had kissed, and realized they cared for one another and even managed to eek out a single date. Seeing him standing there, she smiled and wished that, once again, work wasn’t coming between them. She took a moment to watch him as he responded, then moved up to stand in front of him. “Mike… what is it?” Her hand rose to rest on his chest as she smiled.
“I think we need a break, this evening. How about dinner here after we are done? Nothing fancy, just food and maybe some video. How’s that sound?” She looked at him and smiled. They were close in size and height, but his form and that extra inch or so made a difference to her. She loved feeling him ‘over’ her when she looked at him like this. Somehow it was a comforting, protective, feeling.

“Nothing is wrong, I was just observing the stars.” He smiled. “Dinner sounds great. Will you prepair something or should I come up with something?”
He really liked cooking, though it was a bit frustrating to find ingredients on the ship. But he wouldn’t mind finding out what she’s capable of. With Vikings crazy replicators anything was possible.
Knowing he’ll get to see her later calmed him down a bit. But he made a mental note, to take a long, cold shower before he comes. As boys are, movies wasn’t the only thing on his mind.
