Codem frowned, smacked Alera on the arm and pointed to the sky. “Captain? We need to get going, the storm could start any minute and I’d fancy not getting caught in another one.” The Trill said, a sort of urgency in his voice.GMT Munchlax
Glancing upwards at the gathering clouds, Nakuto nodded, then slid quickly into her piloting seat and fired up the craft. Perhaps the steady hum of the engines warming would alert the rest of the away team to the urgency of departure.

OOC: Thanks for moving the thread in my absence, I apologise for my disappearance
IC:Upon returning to the Doctor, Peter looked at the incoming clouds “Doc we ready?” He asked in a raised voice.
CIO
OOC: No worries.
Lucas knelt down opposite of the doctor to look over the wounded. He didn’t intend to interfere or get in the way, but sometimes another pair of eyes could help move things along.
“Hmm… some bio-foam over the more exposed burns. A minor dose of stimulant to stabilize blood pressure. Painkillers too. What do you think Doctor?”
Kristi glanced at Kara as she took the pilot seat next to her. “Diagnostics clear. But I think we have a storm coming. Should I button her up? Or we getting out of here soon?” She was looking at the skies with a bit of nervousness.

OOC: Just to say I was here ..
IC:
The cloudless sky crackled with lightning shower that branched horizontally in a widening chain of bluish red flashes. Thunder rumbled as though from far away but the effect could be felt in waves of wind that felt like a shove that formed electrified dust devils. The smell of ozone was in the air. Then .. it was past, though smaller high elevation lightning erupted every minute or so.Sensors from the shuttle would show the quickly forming effects of atmospheric disturbance in the forward wake of an ion storm. It may make things bumpy at this point getting off planet. The battle would be in space.
- WookieeKristi had been admiring the lightning show when the warning of the coming storm front set off her sensors. She glanced back at Kara. “Um.... Ma’aam… we need to go. Soon. Or we need to button her up and dig in.” There was an edge of urgency to her voice that surprised even her. Too long in space… a storm is setting you off? Her inner voice was almost laughing at her.

EngAt the controls, Kara’s hands gripped at the edge of her seat as she continued to study the sky above them.
“I know, Ensign,” she replied to Kristi through clenched teeth. “But it is not me holding up our departure.”
She glanced sideways at the remainder of the away team, still not yet returned to the shuttle. Then added to the engineer, “Whatever additional power you can give to the shields without weakening the engines and thrusters would be of great help once we finally take off.”
- Kara Nakuto (Consultant)
Codem hovered near Rivers as they moved him to the shuttle, though his eyes flashed worry toward S’Dan. “Can you give him something for that?” he asked. “I mean, he’s delirious. Isn’t there a shot you heroes have for that?” He took a breath. “My apologies. I’ve been watching him get worse for days. It’s difficult to see.”
- Wookiee as standing“He’ll get all the assistance we can provide him when we reach the Viking, for now, let’s focus on getting off this rock.” Peter gave the man an assuring nod. The sooner they got away from there the better… or at least less bad.
CIO
“Yes, your suggestions will do fine to get him back to the Viking, and then we can get him to sickbay and do more. I don’t want to stay here any longer than you guys do.” Lt. Sharvi responded. They treated his wounds, and carried him to the shuttle.
Lt. Sharvi, CMOLucas moved from the recently deposited wounded person back to the hatch controls and slapped the close button. “Go!” He shouted to the people up front before rushing to secure himself into a seat.

Kristi took control, seeking Kara in obvious distress. She murmured reassuringly to the woman. “I got you…” She pulled the shuttle off the ground, calling back to the other passengers. “We’re gonna be tossed here a bit. Make sure everyone’s secure. She waited another heartbeat and took off at as sharp an angle as she dared with wounded and others in not so secure positions. Her eyes forward and intent as she adjusted the shields to forward and aft to draw extra to the two main sections, hoping they would overlap enough to get them out of the storm. “Going up…” She murmured. As long as the storm didn’t get worse, her basic Academy flight training would be sufficient. After that…
Kristi
EngCodem took a seat near to S’Dan who looked at the Vulcan concerned whenever he shifted off into a delirious babble.
Kristi’s flight was stable until they reached an ionized portion of the atmosphere. Breaking through it resulted in an exchange of ionic lightning that battered the craft. A secondary panel sparked and went dead and her engine power sunk to 41% when a blast coursed through the shielding and overloaded the primary energy conduits from the impulse engine. Secondaries kicked in but the power level was challenged.
This caused the shuttle to do a stomach wrenching hiccup of dropping then re-engaging in altitude to break out of the atmosphere.
- WookieeKristi growled, white knuckled as she struggled to keep it steady. Her fist banging the dead panel in frustration. Her mind whispering prayers to whatever deities were listening, that they would make it.
As the ship dropped, she let out a small scream of surprise before fighting to retch them thru the cacophony of the storm to drive them up into the dead of space. As they broke free, so did her long held breath. “We’re clear… everyone ok?” She called back over her shoulder without taking her eyes off the front view. She could see the ship and she was shaking her head. “We shouldn’t have survived that,” she whispered under her breath. “Thank you whoever you are…”
Kristi
EngineerLucas unstrapped and moved back to check on the wounded. Their condition was bad and they needed treatment as soon as possible. He tapped his badge:
=/\=Mackenzie to the Viking, as soon as we’re in transporter range beam the two injured we have aboard and the doctor straight to sickbay. We’re on our return now and will meet the rest in the shuttle bay. Have engineering note that the shuttle is likely damaged. Mackenzie out.=/\=

Discharged from her role by the engineer, Kara simply relinquished the controls and gazed out of the front viewscreen, waiting for that nauseating moment when the Viking would lurch once more into view.
- Kara Nakuto (Consultant)
With them being in space, and no longer tossed about by the storm, Kristi looked at Kara. Her voice was full of concern, “Ma’am… are you all right?” She looked at the old CO and bit her lip. She was no doctor, or even a Counselor, but she knew something wasn’t sitting right with her cockpit companion.
Kristi
EngineerThe slight distraction of seeing his friend distracted almost made him miss the security chiefs order to the Viking. He quickly hit the comm button on the shuttle =^=Belay that Viking=^= He looked at MacKenzie and raised his left hand slightly, shaking it to the sides =^=We’ll use the shuttles transporters=^= He moved closer to the Security chief in the cramped shuttle, it wasn’t exactly the best place to have a private conversation but it would have to work “Let’s not use the Vikings transporters, trust me on this” He said quietly.
CIO
Lucas nods slowly, “I hadn’t considered their particular… quirk in my rush. Thank you for the reminder. Would hate to have anything happen to our doctor.”
