Kristi joined those walking in last. Mike had asked her to join the team at the last minute. She had no idea what she would be needed for. But Chief Stone said she had to take a tool box, grab the shuttle hit, and join the team So she did just that. Once in the shuttle, strapping in after stowing the kits, she nodded with generalized murmurs of hello to everyone then settled back to see what was gonna happen.
“Indeed we are ready,” Kara replied, the shuttle’s door beginning to slide to a close even as the final medic was still clambering inside. From the helm, the half-Klingon turned to view her passengers. “Strap yourselves in. This will be a bumpy ride.”
Seconds later and the shuttle rose into the air, bobbing from one side to the other as if caught in a violent air current. Before them the massive shuttle bay door juddered open and they were greeted by the black void of space beyond.
“Heghlu’meH QaQ jajvam (today is a good day to die)!” Nakuto roared, then without further warning the craft shot forwards and they found themselves plummeting down towards the planet below.

Peter, who had taken the copilots seat, instinctively grabbed the console with a massive hand as they flew away “No it really isn’t” He said in answer to the common Klingon phrase, he could understand much more of the Klingon Language than he could speak but that was a phrase common enough to most people to recognize “Flying down to Planet deathtrap is not my ideal deathday.” He was only half-joking.

At Peter’s side, Nakuto emitted another roar of laughter.
“Look at it this way, Commander. At least you are away from the Viking. And for that I would submit to a thousand away missions.”As the shuttle continued in its rapid descent, the atmosphere from the planet was hurriedly rushing up to meet them. Turning over her shoulder to glance at the other passengers, Kara called out, “I trust we are all well back there? I hope that nobody suffers from motion sickness.”

Lucas was snugly tucked against the bulkhead with his hand cradling his head and his eyes closed. Soft breathing couldn’t be heard over the atmospheric friction buffeting the ship’s shields, but a casual looker would think he was asleep.
COS Mackenzie
As the shuttle began to breach the atmosphere, it would begin to violently move, being buffeted by the ion storm that was brewing.

Kristi bit her lip as she tried not to yelp. This was her first shuttle mission since the Mirror Verse incident a while ago. She was white knuckled on the edge of her seat and looked around with embarrassment wondering if she was the only one feeling this unsettled.
Kristi
EngineerAs the first wave of the ion storm hit their craft like a thousand, magnetic bullets, Kara found herself losing control of the shuttle’s stability. Her hands moving rapidly across the buttons and switches before her, she turned off automatic guidance and brought navigation fully under manual control in an attempt to gain tighter precision. Their current entry angle was such that almost the entire underside of the craft was vulnerable to the incoming particles so she quickly keyed in an increase, pitching the vessel so sharply that the crew in the rear might find themselves almost tipping out of their seats.
“Peter,” she addressed the CIO with her eyes still locked on her own monitor, “can you use the maneuvering jets to smooth out our trajectory a little? I do not wish to see our team injured before we have even arrived.”
- Kara Nakuto (Consultant)
Peter simply nodded as his hands flew across the panel, activating the maneuvering jets manually. His feet tensed and pressed against the curved floor under his console, one of the several reasons he never attempted to become a pilot was his distaste for accelerated flying, fast ground vehicles were fine but something like this was far too uncomfortable.

Lucas opened his eyes and gave an easy grin to the engineer, “This isn’t that bad so far. Just you wait until we have to leave.”
COS Mackenzie
Kristi nodded to Mackenzie, “Oh, Lords…” she murmured as her knuckles whitened and she clenched her jaw trying not to panic herself into an attack.

((changed doctor to Engineer… missigned my last post lol))OOC: I see, my bad! I thought you were an engineer at first too.
((but, I’m going to insert myself as we don’t have a medical in this))
Lt. Tath’ihl Sharvi sat at the back of the shuttle, checking his equipment. He wanted to make sure non of it was affected by the ion storm. This was his first away mission since joining the ship, and he hoped as the new CMO, it would not be his last.
LT. Sharvi, CMOOOC: The more, the merrier :)
IC: After several further, long, moments of extreme turbulence, during which time every man and woman onboard would have done well to remain fully in their seats, the clouds began to dissipate and below them, the team could make out the hard ground of the planet rushing up to meet them.
“We are on our final approach. Crew, prepare for landing,” Nakuto announced, only seconds before a violent shudder indicated they had made contact with the ground. “Turning in her seat to view the shuttle’s other occupants, the half-Klingon grinned at the away team. “There. That was not so difficult. Now let us depart as quickly as possible and locate these stranded activists.”
- Kara Nakuto (Consultant)
It wouldn’t be hard to locate them, Izzin, a Trill who was wearing a sort of hodge-podge medical case slung over one shoulder with a makeshift strap, was waiting close by. “Over here!” He called, “I’ve got two injured in that cave! A human named Kyle Rivers and a Vulcan named S’Dan.” He said, pointing to a nearby cave, as Codem and Alera came running up to the away team. “Let’s get them and go, we’re running out of time before the next ion storm hits us.”

Lucas stepped in front of the away team to essentially be a meat shield and impress upon the stranded that he was being protective of his charges.
COS Mackenzie
OOC: Meat shield, lol. I love it! hands Lucas a red shirt
IC: Kara slipped into place slightly behind, and to the left of, the CoS. A competent warrior in her own right, the half-Klingon had always respected the tactical and strategic opinions of those actually trained in security and looked now for Mackenzie to take the lead. However, as she discreetly placed a hand on the phaser tucked away in her own pocket, she whispered to the rest of the away team, “Be cautious. We still have no real idea what we are walking into here.”
