“I’m not going to leave you,” David promised, wrapping his arms around the child and holding her tight, not so much that it hurt her, but that she felt he was there. “The shadows aren’t going to take me, like they’ve done to Harry, your father, or the previous Captain. So it’s okay.” He looked around wondering how he was going to get Luna with Cerenity clinging on to him like this.

“I’ll go, I used to work in security before my promotion, I’ll go get Ensign Luna for you.” Tath said, as he walked out the doors of sickbay and headed down the hallway toward the brig and security’s section.

As Tath turned a corner he ran into a overly tired ensign Luna who was just getting off shift. “ oh I’m sorry are you ok. I gess I should watch where I’m going” she said. The usual jump and on edge ensign was to tired that she sounds like any one else just coming off shift.

“Thank you,” David sighed, “You hear that? Your mum is on her way, Dr Sharvi is going to go get her for us. We can wait for her here. I’m not going anywhere.” he said to Luna. “I promise. I’m not. And one day, they’re going to come back. Everybody that went missing on the Viking will come back. We’ll find out what happened to them and bring them home.” At least, he hoped they would. Harrington swallowed, hoping he hadn’t just unwittingly made a liar out of himself.

Dr Harrington

“ I miss dad, mommy dose not understand me. “ she muttered. The sobbed some more into Dr. Harrington’s shoulder. “ why do the shadows keep saying I’m not human and that there going to take every one I love” she whimpered the hysterics of earlier finally starting to calm. She was starting to think again witch was a good thing. Though it was becoming more and more apparent that the child would need to be told the truth sooner rather then later.
Ensign Luna

“It’s ok, ensign. I need you to come with me to sickbay. There’s something going on with your daughter, the doctor and the shadows, I figured you would know how to help, from our short time in security together.”

“ not Again, waght why is she in sick bay? Is she hurt” luna asked almost paniced.

In Sickbay, David rubbed at Cerenity’s back, “Your mummy loves you, and she means well. Our mums can’t understand us all the time, but the love us anyway. As for the shadows you can’t listen to them. They’re just trying to scare you.” just like they’re trying to scare me he thought quietly to himself. “Your mother won’t let them take her away from you, nor will she let them take anyone else you love away. She’s one of the best security officers on the Viking. It doesn’t matter what the shadows say, you will be safe.”

Cerenity relaxed and barred her face into his shoulder.” Thank you, I like you Doctor” she said.

Ensign Luna

David smiled, “I like you too,” he said and felt, a deep sense of affirmation and satisfaction in the knowledge of how true his words were. In many ways Cerenity was like a daughter to him, in other ways she reminded him of Harry when they had been little and nothing more than ‘Bree and Davie’ as opposed to ‘Harry and the Golden Boy’. It reminded him of when life was simple and all that had mattered had been playing on the hill and sneaking into the kitchen to steal the last ice-cream.

Cerenity relaxed falling to sleep in his armed. Just then Luna entered sick bay to find them.” What happened” she asked. Concern written all over her face.
Ensign Luna

David looked up, his eyes meeting Dr Sharvi’s, Thank you he mouthed to the other doctor who had somehow managed to get swept up in this whole mess. “There was a…” he paused and blinked, “I don’t really know. She came in to give me a drawing of Harry and then she just…” he shrugged unsure just how to describe the bizzare event, “She started yelling at the corner, saying how the shadows were going to take me, you… everyone really away from her. She was really freaked out, Dr Sharvi came in and offered to get you since we couldn’t get her to calm down. She’s only just calmed now.” Harrington blinked, rubbing Cerenity’s shoulders between her wings carefuly.

Lina shook her head a sad look on her face. “ she has been having episodes like that since her father returned. He disappeared again but we have been unable to figure our why she is having these episodes. “ Luna said.

“Poor child,” he whispered, “This ship hasn’t been the kindest to her has it?”

Dr Harrington

“ no it has not but it’s the safest place for her. Out here not may in the federation know she is here” Luna said shaking her head. She wished Loki were here to help. “ I do wish her father were here He was always stronger and braver then I was” she said.

OOC: I do apologize in the delay on posting I got stick last week and life was a bit crazy before that.

“I wish Loki were here too,” came a voice from somewhere in the corridor outside of sickbay. Nanoseconds later and the towering form of Kara Nakuto appeared, her face drawn and weary, despite only being back on the Viking for less than a week. But seeing her friend, Luna, again, brought the semblance of a smile to the half-Klingon’s face.

“It’s good to see you again, Luna,” she told the other, pulling the security officer into a hug as she spoke. “How have you been?”

The smile quickly diminished, however, as she continued. “I…I do not know of Loki’s current whereabouts. I have been under questioning at Starfleet for the past year and…I presumed that Loki would have remained on the ship? But I take it he has not?”

Luna burst into tears. Though she made not sound knowing her Daughter was still asleep in David’s arms. “ I don’t know where he went I need him. I can’t do this alone anymore” crystal she muttered between sobs. She was her wits end between protecting the ship and raising a child who’s was far smarter then she was on her own. “ I still love him I wish he would come back his daughter needs him.” She said.

Lt. Sharvi hadn’t met Loki, but even as a klingon, he wanted to give Luna a hug. Working with her in security, he knew she went through a lot with the job and raising Cerenity as well.

Kara took gentle hold of Luna’s shoulders, her own tormented brown eyes meeting with Luna’s terrified own. So much suffering had been shared between these two women, so much adversity. But so much triumph as well.
“Luna,” the half-Klingon spoke forcefully, “I promise you, we will find Loki. Just as we will find every other member of crew who has been swallowed by this damned ship! But it will not be easy and…I will need you to be strong, Luna. For Loki and for your daughter. Can you do that?”

Even as she spoke, Nakuto became aware of an unmistakable presence in the room. Perhaps the Viking’s lot had improved in her absence, if the Empire was sending its sons and daughters to assist. Turning, she came to face Lt Sharvi, her delight at discovering a fellow Klingon onboard unbounded.
“nuqneH!” she roared, thrusting a powerful hand in the CMO’s direction. “bIpIv’a’!”

Lt. Sharvi shook her hand. “qaleghqa’neS jIpIv. bIpIv’a’” he responded to her. He was happy to see her again.

Luna simply nodded. She did not have the strength to argue at this point. She moved to join David and her sleeping child.
Ensign Luna

Kara ran a hand through her raven-black hair. It was painful to see Luna so desolate. The young woman had been through so much and had found an anchor in Loki. But the loyal security officer had followed his then-Captain, Nakuto, into the abyss and returned a year later, a hollow man.

“Luna, when did you see Loki last?” she asked, glancing at Sharvi as if to silently inquire whether Luna could withstand such questioning right now, or whether it would be better for her, the half-Klingon bringer of doom, to give the other some space.

Lt. Sharvi saw Kara look at him, he somewhat knew what she was thinking, and he nodded as if to say, no, Luna should probably rest.
