Ensign Stein, is most assuredly not the senior officer present at the CO’s bedside, is he? He clears his throat though and nods towards Ninki and Lila, “Ah well that would be the executive officer, I should think.” He looks around again, “No other doctor has been by that would have notified him? Seems like the first thing I would have done.”

“Maybe someone should call this Executive Officer?” Lila asked curiously as to who this man or woman was.

“Oh come on Vik dammit. Wake up.” Kaylia gave a look, “She wasn’t put in the coma by medical terms.” Giving a huff also, holding Vik’s hand. The other tapping her comm badge. “Strenvale to Commander Nevin. We have a situation in sickbay. Its the Captain. You should get down here so you may be apprised of the situation.”

Stein lets the engineering ensign make the report, his own attention turned to making sure the woman on the slab, er, table is still very much not as alive as she probably could be, given the circumstances.

Nevin entered sickbay after just a few moments. It was clear that he had hurried as quick as he could. His hair was ruffled and untidy and he was slightly out of breath. Despite this, he fastened his grey uniform waistcoat as he entered the room. Instinctively, Nevin made a visual assesment of the CO and the readouts on the display, but knew that the doctors present would have already be aware of much more than the sumary display showed.

“Doctor, report please,” he said addressing the doctor that was tending to the CO.

Kalika had been overseeing the third shift reports before morning shift change when one report stood out like a super nova against the background of a black hole.

The CO was in medical… And not fairing well at last report.

As she passed the shift change to another, she found herself stealing the corridor towards medical. Her past slamming into her with every stride she took.

Her fiance dieing on the last mission on her former ship… Her parents dieing while she was at Academy… The deaths during her childhood of old friends…

As she turned a corner towards the turbo lift, her former lover’s ghost blocked her path. Another death, Kalika… You aren’t fit to protect anyone! It faded in a moment and she continued on to medical.

As she arrived, it was evident from the swift rub of her eyes that she was fighting her emotions. She stepped in and paused. The door swooshed shut behind her as she looked at those in the room and the glimpse of the body on the medical bed she caught between people’s movements.

Lila cocked her head slightly as she noticed Kalika enter as she did the woman seemed close to tears. Lila stood and though she had yet to be released while they tend to the Captain she remained in sickbay for now. Moving to Kalika’s side though she did not know the officer that entered she gave the officer a hug. “The Captain is not dying she will be just fine once she has been given some blood.” Lila told her gently.
