Taking another moment he came back to the group and leaned against his desk. “Commander, I need the Viking to take over the investigation,” he concluded with a bitter resignation. “I will order my crew to comply with you fully but you will meet some resistance. This has been a labour of love for many of my staff, a lot of them were instrumental in getting this colony up and running and some may not relinquish control easily…” he paused as he looked back through the window. “But I see no other alternative…” he said solemnly.

Mother Hen

Peter looked between the admiral and the Commander “Has there been any empirical evidence gathered during the courses of the investigations?” He asked already knowing the answer.

Aldridge sighed and shook his head. “None really, just the accounts from Captain Ries and Lt Lazoh, neither of which make a lot of sense. They both reported seeing and hearing our deceased engineer Lt Cal Malia but the scanner logs show no signs of intruders and there were no transporter signals detected. The week preceeding his death, the Captain reported several occasions where he had seen his deceased friend but the counselor put it down to stress surrounding Lt Malia’s death.” The Admiral paused as he took a deep sigh. “Lt Malia committed suicide 10 days ago…” he added, almost in a whisper. “…at least, we think he did…” Aldridge added carefully with a solemn grimace. It had only just occurred to him that perhaps there was more to the young engineer’s death than they had initially thought.

Nevin could feel for the man. It was not good to know who to trust and who not to. Nevin nhad been caught on the wrong side of that situation himself in his past.

“This data? Was this established from the raw log data or analysed by your intelligence engine. Nevin’s recent experience in the turbolift had left him wary of the colony’s IE.

-Nevin

As the Admiral was about to speak, the door chime buzzed and he held up a hand to cease the conversation, wary of any of his staff overhearing. He rose to his feet and went over to the door, opening it to reveal Luna & Jacquard. He beckoned Luna in to join the rest of the team but put a gentle hand on Jacquard’s shoulder as he attempted to follow. “Thank you Lt Cmdr, that will be all,” he added firmly, despite Jacquard’s confused look. Jacquard opened his mouth to protest but as he saw the steely gaze from him commanding officer he backed down. Aldridge took a quick look around the command centre and noticed that the Captain’s away team had not appeared yet. He quickly pulled up a transporter log which showed they had beamed over but not arrived in the command centre. He curtly passed the PaDD to Jacquard and stepped back inside his office. “It seems the transporter has deposited Captain Ravenfall’s team somewhere in the colony, perhaps you should go and retrieve them?” he suggested as the doors slid closed on Jacquard.

Aldridge retook his seat and smiled at Luna. “Welcome Ensign,” he said warmly as she came to join them, then turned back to Nevin. “That’s all the information we have gathered, raw files and sensor logs,” he replied as he wearily rubbed the back of his stiff neck.

Mother Hen

“ Admiral if I may there is more to this situation then meets the eye Jacquard and I both saw the long sense gone cat of Lt Lazoh “ she said.
Ensign Luna

The Admiral blinked a couple of times in bewilderment as he raised an eyebrow. “A cat?” he asked, somewhat baffled as he sighed. “Strange as that is, we may have to leave that for later investigation…” he mused as he handed another PaDD to Akorem. “Here are your security clearances Commander, you can set up next door in Captain Ries’ office…” he said with a hint of distress in his voice at the mention of his recently departed XO. “If you have any problems with any of the colony crew, just let me know…” he added as he wearily took a seat at his desk again.

Mother Hen

“ excuse me admiral but what do you mean later investigation from what I’ve heard there linked to the murder investigation. Let’s think about this sir Captain Ries started exsperinceing sapped holusinations before he died. Now your consular is exsperinsing them and so have your Chife of security and I. I am not from this station nor have I been her long enough to show symptoms of any kind of vires based on that I think they are related sir” Luna said she saw he was bothered by the previous CO’s office however they did not have time for hurt feelings.
Ensign Luna

“Let’s get an space setup next door and we can map this out, Ensign,” Nevin said seeing that this was clearly something that the Admiral wasn’t comfortable discussing at the moment.

Once the others had exited and been directed to Ries’ office and Nevin was alone.

“Admiral, may I offer you some personal advice based upon my own experience?” he asked not wanting to overstep his own bounds and rank.

-Nevin

The Admiral ran his fingers through his wispy white hair and nodded wearily. “Of course Commander…” he replied with a sigh.

Mother Hen

“Grab a couple of hours rest. Freshen up,” Nevin said. He had been going to suggest a shave, but that would have been hypocritcal given that Nevin hadn’t had one for several days due to the treatment for the burns he experienced on his last away mission.

“You’ve got a good team here, but if they can see visibly how this is affecting you, they may begin to doubt themselves,” Nevin said warmly. He knew full well that the Admiral had all the same command training and had a lot more experience under his belt. But sometimes the simplest part of motivating your staff were the first to get overlooked in a crisis.

-Akorem

The Admiral sighed and thought about what he was saying, he knew that Nevin was right but he had yet to meet with the Captain. “I will Commander, as soon as I have spoken to your Captain…” he said wearily as he instinctively rubbed his eyes at the mention of sleep.

Mother Hen

Peter scratched his chin “Which reminds me, wasn’t the Captain supposed to join us by now?” He asked the first officer. He knew she had requisitioned two of his own officers as an escort to leave more security personnel on the Viking, he wondered why he hadn’t recieved a report yet. Probably nothing to be concerned about.

CIO

As if on cue, Mike’s head popped up from the open doorway. “Ah there you are…” He said as he saw his XO, “Mike Stone reporting in.”
As the rest of his body followed the head, it became apparent that he wasn’t wearing the standard Federation uniform. Instead it was a slightly too small black tracksuit with white lines at the side.

“I apologise for the lack of uniform. There was a slight accident with my arrival here. Um, where’s the CO and the rest of the officers that were with him?” He added, as he noticed CO wasn’t here already. Until now he though only he was beamed off target. Now he realised others were probably beamed to wrong location as well.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

“If you’re here, they can’t be that far away,” Nevin replied. He tapped his comm badge, =/\=Akorem to away team, please akcnowledge.=/\=
