As the shuttle craft moved closer to the Starship hovering over a planet, the Berbers started to set in for Ryzc. With his request to transfer to closer to home on DS9 being denied, it seemed like Star-Fleet needed him here, The USS Viking.

He got his comm to let the ship know he was coming in. It had been a long trip from Bajor to here, and ultimately he was the only one left in a shuttle with supplies and provisions.

After being granted aboard, Ryzc piloted the shuttle into one of the hanger bays. A few NEs were there, unloading everything including his personal items. His rank as LT (jg) has some perks. The NEs would take care of his stuff while he reports in. His first stop would be the Chief Science Officer. He looked on his PaDD, a saw the name LT Sanx and his location.

Ryzc was curious about whether or not they allowed him to be able to wear his Bajoran ear ring. He left it in because his last duty station was ok with him having it, but then decided it would be best to ask first. He took it out, and headed to the office located from his PaDD.

He pressed the chime on the doorplate, hoping someone was in there.

Ryzc Ocet - Science Officer

“Come in.” came a response form inside and the door slid open. Seated behind the desk in the office was a Denobulan wearing a white lab coat over a blue uniform. He looked up and smiled and said “Yes? May I help you, Lieutenant?”

The Bajoran walked in, stood at attention in front of the COS. “LTJG Ryzc Ocet reporting for duty as ordered.”

Ryzc handed LT Sanx his PaDD, and stood there at attention.

LT (jg) Ryzc Ocet - Science

Sanx took the PaDD and said “Please relax. Have a seat.” and he reviewed the orders. After a few moments, Sanx said “So. Tell me about yourself and what brings you to the Viking.”

Ryzc didn’t really know where to start. He sat down and seemed conflicted, but maintained his composure.

“I was born into Cardassian war, and became an orphan not too long after. I was adopted by a Cardassian widow, who raised me in the ways of both Cardassian and Bajor. She was my mother, and was treated with respect throughout both the Cardassians and Bajorans society. After the treaty, she stayed on Bajor.” Ryzc took a breath.

“After my graduation from the Academy, I was stationed on Earth. I got a call that my mother was very ill, and she passed not too long after. I had requested to be stationed on DS9, but it was denied and I was ordered here.”

Ryzc still misses his mother. And then remembered.

“Sir, before I forget, would it be ok if I wear my traditional ear peice?”

Sanx gave the young man a consoling look and said “My condolences on your loss. Family is a very important part of my culture, and the loss of a loved one is momentous for us. As far as the ear piece goes, I have no issue with it. One should strive to keep one’s culture close as we travel far from our homes.” He paused and then said “Do you specialize in any particular scientific field, Mr. Ocet?”
