IC: “James’ official record shows he died on the bridge of this ship. I know that not to be true. John’s record of the post mortem and the surveillance footage from the bridge have all been classified. John cannot access his own notes of the incident, so that tells me that there is something to hide.”

Junior folded his arms, “You find me James, and you get John. Safe and unharmed as agreed.”

Peter put his head down in resignation “Fine, I’ll find your Operative uncle who is presumed dead and whose death was probably covered up by his organization. People that don’t leave trails.” His left hand twitched slightly but with significant effort, he did not draw “You need to decide what you want, do you want James or do you want your life back?” He moved closer and looked down at the man “But the moment this risks any member of this crew I will end this, John or no John”

“I don’t intend to put anyone on this ship in any danger that they would not find themselves in,” Junior replied, “You really think I could live with myself if anything happened to Antos?”

With his knowledge of Bajaran culture and ettiquette, Peter would almost certainly have noted the use of the child’s given name indicating close familiarity.

Peter took a pause longer than any in their conversation so far. He still disliked and mistrusted the man and was fairly certain in his earlier judgement of him but so far he’d shown at least a degree of humanity the intelligence chief hadn’t expected from him “What is your relationship with Commander Akorem’s son?” He asked shifting the tone and contents of their conversation.

“I’m sure that you have done your research and are likely to know that Nevin and I were…” Junior paused as if choosing his words carefully, “… Close. Antos is like a son to me. What happened between Nevin and I is not the boy’s fault.”

“Alright, then before I en this tell me about the Commander, what’s his role in all of this? Do you know why he wanted us to contact you?” Peter asked calmly, things were becoming clearer but opaque still. He would take the next opportunity he could to bug the Commander’s room and office and set up a surveillance center somewhere.
