That was exciting,” Nevin said, “Before attending the Academy, the furthest I had travelled from home was Deep Space Nine for my entrance examinations. Earth is so bright and warm compared to where I lived on Bajor. Even the run down areas of the cities are clean. I thought it was a dream, I never realised such a place was possible. No homelessness, no poverty, no starvation. Before living on Earth, I thought that these things were just ‘hidden from the brochures’ so to speak.”
He paused momentarily, “There were a lot of firsts for me too. I guess I kind of grew up late.”

Peter understood the man’s meaning “It’s sometimes difficult to imagine pain and suffering of that sorts when you grow up in a fairly literal Paradise” He emptied his glass, there was a slight twitch but not much else. “I didn’t leave really leave Sol until After Graduation. I uh.. My father Captained a Civilian Cargo ship, He’d planned to take my to Alpha Centauri During my First summer break at the Academy.” He smiled somberly as he poured into his glass.
Peter
Nevin sensed there was something that Peter was avoiding mentioning.
“You know Antos was born on the Olympic and has been ship-hopping with me ever since. He’s only ever been groundside for holidays,” Nevin said, “Makes me wonder what memories he’ll have of ‘home’ when he grows up. Will he even have somewhere he considers ‘home’?”
-Akorem
“Yes, a Starfleet brat has a different Idea of what home is than others I guess. I once met this kid in the Academy who said that he considered space his true home” He laughed slightly at the thought. He took another sip “Before I was stationed on the Viking originally, oh maybe seven years ago, I was a fill-in assistant Security Chief on the Olympic, Summer of ‘86 I think. Nice ship. How old is Antos?” He asked politely, already knowing the answer.
Peter
“Eight, in Earth years,” Nevin replied, “It seems to have flown by. Win’t be long before he starts really growing up.”
-Akorem
“It never is” Peter smiled softly at the thought, “I think we might have served around the same time then on the Olympic. I wasn’t there long enough to learn anyone other than my immediate superiors and coworkers. what did you do there?”
Peter
Nevin had joined the Olympic at a time when a group of officers (including his department head) were in the final stages of planning a mutiny. What happened on the Olympic that week was never officially described as mutiny, but those who were there at time knew better.
“I joined her fresh out of the Academy,” he said, “Due to… circumstances, I found myself elevated to Chief Medical Officer within a few days. Amidst the death and dessertion, I stepped up. As an ensign, I expected a new chief would come in and take over, but instead, I received a promotion.”

Peter nodded slowly, he remembered the air on the ship when he first joined. He’d never learned what happened but he gathered it was truly something “Yes I recall something about that unusual situation but I left before I had a chance to learn anything. Was in a relationship with the former Chief Medical Officer from the Curie, when she was decommissioned we transferred together to the Olympic. We were transferred to different ships afterwards.”

Certainly giggled she opened her wings and took off flying around the are her mom was in. Luna had a pad and was working she would look up every now and then to check on the baby. The ensign has long sence given up on trying to keep the baby’s ability to fly a secret.
Ensign LunaNevin looked around and smiled at the flying child. “You know toddlers are difficult enough to keep an eye on when all they can do is… todddle. How, in the universe, do you manage so well?” he asked Luna.
-Akorem
Luna looked up at him with an almost tired smile. “ I don’t, it’s a wonder she has not broken anything yet. Are bones are hollow so it’s not like it’s hard to brake them. How’s you sun doing” Luna asked. Carenity took several powerfully wing strokes and shot up twards the sealing. The child came within inches of snaking her head on the ciling. Panic and worry danced across Luna’s face for a second disappointing before the child could see.
Ensign Luna“He’s not doing too bad, starting to grow up,” Nevin replied with a smile.
-Akorem
“ that’s good I wish there were more children on this ship. I’m worryed Certainly won’t learn Schoshal skills” Luna said. She studded the CIO. “ your the Chife intelligence officer right” Luna asked.

Peter took a moment before looking over to the Winged security officer “Yes, indeed I am” He raised his glass slightly and gave her a polite smile “Lieutenant Commander Peter Sigmundsson, I didn’t get to introduce myself when we last met.”
