CNS Check in - Elia Lenka

Last stop on her initial tour was to report for her psychological review by the ship’s counsellor.

She didn’t mind psych evaluations; she tolerated them, as they were part of protocol, but she saw them as little more than a formality. She had often had debates on whether psychology was indeed a match for neurology and biological psychology. Lenka believed anything could be explained with firing neurons and changes in brain chemistry.

Her psychological report had been sent to her new ship as per protocol, which read:

‘Lieutenant Elias Lenka can be summarised in many words, and a few I would use would be efficient, to the point, and somewhat disdainful.

‘When asked, she was candid in her opinion that she did not put much stock into the discipline of psychology, but conceded that it was necessary. I admit that did not endear her to me initially, but after a few meetings, I did come to know her a little better.

‘Yes, she could be somewhat distant from her fellow officers, and sometimes quite abrupt, but she is professional and is not hostile in any way.

‘For my fellow professional on her posting on the Viking, I would hope they would encourage her to use her off-duty time to try and socialise and spend less time in the labs, alone.’

“Hmm..” Tal muled over the PaDD, reaching over to grasp the cup of black coffee beside her, raising it to her lips, she was disappointed to find it was cold, nearly empty. Frowning, she rose to her feet with that poor mug in one hand and the PaDD in the other. Unfortunately, her office didn’t have a working replicator, so she was forced to retreat to the mess hall to get a cup of what she liked to call: the drink of the gods.

She rang the door chime of the Counsellor’s office, and waited.

Startled by the incredible screech of the chime, dropping both her device and the mug, she quickly retreated to the ground. “Uh, just a minute!” She shouted, gathering herself. Standing up, she attempted to cover the newfound coffee stain that dressed her uniform. “Come in,” she called, wearing an awkwardly calm smile.

As the door swooshed open, the Ktarian scientist stepped through, her cat-like eyes taking in the woman before her, her eyes travelling to the stain on her uniform and her somewhat awkward stance. “Lieutenant, Junior Grade Elia Lenka,” she said, by way of introduction. Her hands remain clasped behind her back, though she did give a slight nod of respect towards an officer of superior rank. “Have I come an an inconvenient time, Counsellor?” She asked, her gaze once again flicking to the stain, then back to the human woman’s face.
